  1. To obsidian,

It's a shame if these forums get closed, this is the best place to discuss TSL. Info will always be available for those who ask. It's easy to just notice the complaints and whines and so on, but what about the good stuff this forum has? Look at the class comparison sticky for instance, a great example of what this forum has to offer at it's best. Also people have a lot of interesting and good conversations in this community, it would be waste to deny those because of random crap that people post.

The community is currently so large that the bad stuff just can't be avoided, but the situation will calm down, it always does. Nobody can continue to bitch forever, in time most of the out-of-line stuff will disappear (the people will).

The situation is right now the worst it can be and that may give you a reason to close these forums, but I'd still recommend you to reconsider and see how the things play out a little longer. Alas, I do not know the whole story and have no true knowledge of how things are from your point of view.

Also I would like to say that, like most people, I really liked TSL and I think it's a great game. It must not have been easy to to make a sequel to a game like Kotor. A job well done. Thank you, Obsidian.

As conclusion I'd like to say that most people would accept strict rules, if that would keep the forums alive. You do what you got to do and I respect your decision. After all, these forums effect your personal lives too.

  2. Now I'm playing a DS female and I'm having some difficulties with influence. I want those characters turned to Jedis, but most of them just don't approve of my evil deeds. Give me some advice on this, do I have to do LS acts, or is there better ways?

Also, I've tried using the Nar shaddaa speeder bug, but It doesn't work, I just don't get those options again. Maybe it's fixed.

    Any Ideas?

Be a jerk and lose influence whenever possible. I just turned Bao-Dur and Atton on Nar Shaddaa. That planet (or moon) is perfect for losing influence all over the place. So right now, my PC has dark side mastery and those two are about 75% in the blue.

I'm not sure of the logic behind it but if you're consistent in either winning or losing, you can train them.

Really? How does this work? You just lose influence and then you just get a conversation option?

  4. Dantooine has one important advantage: the Personal Chrystal.

It is also an extremely fast planet to build your lightsabre on.

Get Part 1 from the hammerhead on Telos. Get part 2 from the trapped salvager. Get part 3 by claiming the loot. Sure it nets you a little DSP, but that loot doesn't belong in salvager hands anyway.

And to make a sweet deal sweeter, Comrade Vrook gives you another sabre.

That's exactly the same I did (read the first post), and yes the personal crystal is nice too.

  5. I have crafted my pretty fast on Dantooine...

First Piece taken from the Ithorian on Telos...

Second buyed from the trapped scavenger...

Third from Master I Don't Remember The Name But Hate He Deeply...

Ah, I got it faster from Dantoiine, before getting to Master Vrook, (check first post) (was in K1 too btw.)

Anyone who has got the first saber from Korriban? It's the shortest planet so...

And getting a part from Visas means you need to be fast on alignment maxing, I've always had my saber before that. (+if you already have one, you get a double-bladed from her)

  6. Okay, a lightsaber is what everyone wants and wants it fast. So I want to know which planet would be the fastest.

I've noticed that there are certain quests from which you get rewarded with a lightsaber and if you don't yet have one you get a part from these.

I'm currently on my second playthrough, first time I got it on Dxun and I think it took pretty long.

Second time I'm on Dantoiine and got it pretty fast. 1st part from Jorran and the second I got from the dead guys body by modifying the will. I think this was pretty fast, but are there faster ways? Maybe from two different planets?

    So what do you think?

  7. Yeah you can't say it's too short if you comlete it too fast.

It's true there SEEMS to be less quests and stuff to do, but still I managed to spend 7 hours more on TSL than I did with KotOR.

So if people on average use more then 30 hours on this game, not even counting additional playthroughs, it's a lot more to play then the standard 10 hours that most of the games take to complete.

And this is an RPG, if you wan't to have a manual controlled battle, play an FPS. Or deus ex invisible war... which sucks.

  8. Haha, I'm a little confused now...

I think when they were all together, and I use Mind Trick on them, they fought each other for a little while. But when I had one of them on their own, it just floated in air, allowing to slap it down with my lightsaber

Ah, okay. Well there is no point destroying those lightsabers anyway, Trayas the one that we want. I guess it's possible to kill her while the sabers are hitting you but your character would have to make a couple of criticals i think. Otherwise you would get beat down pretty fast.

  9. Yeah, I agree about the lightsabers at the end....didn't see that coming! I manage to cheat a little a get all three by themselves, and Mind Trick them. It was still quite difficult though.

    You can mindtrick the sabers?...odd.

Oh and I remember reading from somewhere that you can force crush these guys (the sith lords), don't know for certain, my DS character isn't finished yet. If that is true, than they're really easy.

  10. Ah btw. dropping the difficulty to easy makes the skill tasks easier, if you really want everything done (I switched with my consular a couple of times so I could open a few containers, since I want every possible piece of equipment). Though the battles will be worthless then, luckily it can be switched right back after the task is done. Some people would say this is cheating, but it works.

  11. Really?? when i played DS he just escaped into the unknown world jungle... I killed Juhani and Jolee... and i forced Zaalbar to kill Mission... but Carth ALWAYS ESCAPED, is there a way to kill him??

    DK

If you've got him in love with you he'll show up in the end and try to redeem you, if I remember correctly. Check from some walkthrough or sth. I'm not entirely sure.

  12. I just finished this game this morning and I must say that the game was fun. Very good story indeed.

Now I add myself to the minority by saying that i actually liked the ending. Sure it had some unfinished stuff about it, but in overall the ending was a satisfactory and made perfect sense to me.

I really liked the "this was all training for something bigger"-thing, really elevated the exile in my eyes= a true master force user.

There are some problems with the game mechanics, like low framerates from time to time and a couple of crashes. However these are secondary to the core of the game which is the story and the rich characters. The technic issues were a little annoying but easily forgotten once I passed the next corner.

Now that my lightside character is finished I can go on with being a bad guy. I'm excited to see what I missed the first time.

So thanks Obsidian! Keep up the good work! :(

  13. Before I got the game I heard a lot of people saying that the random loot generator is really bad. Well based on my experience now, it has some weird habits but still gives nice items.

I admit there are some things it messes up, but in general it keeps up a decent item give away.

I've got a truckload of good stuff, although the weird thing is that a lot of it is the same items. For example i've got 4 mandalorian heavy armors and a lot of other stuff that I've got more then one piece. Also the loot gen seems to have a habit of giving the same item right or almost after the last container.

On overall I like the fact that it does give good stuff, but it just seems to give them from odd places. For example I could get some good robe from a animal corpse, while blowing up a mandalorian cache with imported explosives from Korriban gives me just some basic items.

The loot I get is still a satisfactory and you never know what you'll get, which is fun.

    Any opinions on this?

  14. You get Viasa's when your aligned strongly... so you have to.

Well you don't actually need her, she just shows up once you go back to Ebon Hawk. You can just switch Kreia to your party and talk to her, before you go to Ebon Hawk. So tecnically Visas has nothing to do with gaining a prestige class.

I was a weapon master before Visas showed up.

  15. Thank you for the suggestion, but I think you got the wrong place. I'm already done with the actual academy and I went to the cave outside the acadamy. In there I entered a place called 'The Secret Chamber'. I have cleared the place and I'm in the last room (or so I think) where in the middle you find Sith Lord Ludo's stuff. In that room there are three doors that just say 'locked' and I just can't figure out a way to open them..

So still asking, has anyone got the doors open that I'm talking about?

Ah I just opened the middle one last and it opened to me just fine.

  16. 16 hours and still no lightsaber? Ouch. Got mine after about 6; nevertheless, you need the lens unit, not an actual lens upgrade. Head to Onderon; I won't say anymore in an effort to prevent spoilers.

16 hours ain't that much took me 22 hours. (Still, it is the same part of the game, some people just take their time before moving on). I'm currently on the beginning of my last planet Dantoiine and have spent over 40 hours playing time.
