  1. Whoa. That's a very good point, really. But it's hard to make such a game. Writing one really exciting storyline is a big deal itself, but writing five or six of them at the same time?.. That can be done, actually, I think Obsidian is one of the very few studios that can really do such a thing, but it would require far more time and much bigger budget to make different content for each storyline. I doubt such a project could be funded on Kickstarter. And even more I doubt that there is game publisher on our planet willing to sponsor one. As for me, I miss well written stories with narrowed characters and a dose of philosophy. I know I'm not the first saying this and not even the one thousand first but it really would be great if game not only gave you some fun but made you think about something... spiritually important. Well, I think everybody understood which specific game I'm referring to.
  2. What's so special about full voice-over? It's not the main advantage of a good game, not even close to it. Why bother? Just for clarity, I've played a game once which had full voice-over done only by amateurs. Trust me, such a things should NEVER be done in our world if we want it to survive a little longer. Leave voice-acting to professionals! P.S. Don't know about other people, but personally I learned to read this funny little things they call "letters" when I was 4 years old. And I damn proud of it!

Nothing special, really Actually I'm pretty sure that proper (or at least close to it) translation will be provided by fan communities in about half of an year after game's release, and guys from Obsidian hardly have something to do with it. Officially localized version very likely will turn out a trash. Due to my membership in one of such communities I think I'll have to deal with a little piece of PoE's texts too, sooner or later. In that case it would help me a little to know localizer's name and according to that prepare myself morally for... uh, never mind.
  4. IMHO, that would be good for tactical slasher, but totally wrong for game with some role playing inside. Premade companions won't have their own story or quests, won't speak to you or to each other, won't do any of that stuff people loved in BG2 or P:T. Generally they won't seem to be alive. It just like you start with six guys (gals, whatever) instead of one, convenient, but not interesting. Which one of them would be YOUR character if you create them all by yourself? I think it's all just about different playing styles, but it's rather difficult to put them both in one game. Adventurer's Hall could do the trick, but it must have its restrictions. That would be somewhat unfair to game balance if you could walk through the dungeons you supposed to beat alone with five more folks at your side, crushing everything to dust with that big nasty boots of yours... Oops. Sorry, lost my point. Anyway, some people would prefer it your way, some other wouldn't, and PoE supposed to mix it up.
  5. Hi, everyone! I'm sorry if there already was such question here, didn't find any though. I heard PoE is going to be released on several languages including Russian. But who will do the translation? "Official localizers" in Russia can translate shooters and race simulators, maybe even RTS if they press themselves a little. But when there's some significant amount of in-game text, poor folks become completely frustrated by the amount of difficult words. No, seriously, "official" Russian versions of EVERY good cRPG had terrible translation. BG, BG2, VtM:Bloodlines, Arcanum and both KotORs aren't translated normally yet, fans still working (mostly revising though) on them. Not to mention Fallout 2 and especially Planescape:Torment. It will be very sad if PoE will get killed for Russian gamers because of the poor localization. So, is there any news about that?
