  1. If this was to be done completely including locks and other mechanical devices then it would require more descriptions and illustrations. With all the checks and modifiers this would be a substantial undertaken this late in the game. Suggestion start by removing xp bonus on them. figure to be for expanse and work out more details.
  2. (just conversation at this time, maybe to late at this time) maybe for future projects?
  3. I'd encourage you to take a deep breath, Sheikh. I feel that there is a language barrier here. It seems like he's saying that it might be cool if you focused on the lore/knowledge aspect of bonuses with traps, instead of XP. So, disarming traps that may have been optional will help you disarm similar traps in the future. I don't know why he didn't post this in the backer beta discussion forum. Maybe he isn't playing the beta at all? I'm not sure why the conclusion you would jump to is "oh, are you a pirate?!", when he hasn't even cited any direct gameplay. He's merely referencing conceptual design information that has been made known via updates and such. I'm am not doing the baker beta. I have been reading post and thought this might be a idea worth discussing. thanks lephys for straighten this out. Do you have an opinion on this?
  4. Lore represents a character's accumulated miscellaneous knowledge and trivia, often of occult or esoteric topics. In combat, it helps characters learn about enemy defenses and capabilities. Each time a character attacks an enemy, their Lore skill helps contribute to revealing their defenses and, for common enemies, filling in their Bestiary entries. Like Bestiary text box but text on the trap mechanics damage delt damage type how to set which leads to how to disable.
  5. you disarm a trap and it fills in lore like the beast lore explains type and weakness. After coming across the same type of trap you fill in it's best way to dis arm giving you a greater chance to do so. there had been talk of giving xp for this like NWN but a lore bonus would stay in line with the style of the game
  6. Sorry Trap lore bonus not xp is title.
  7. each time you come across a similar trap fill in a lore on that type. When complete it gives a percent bonus to disarm say 10% on top of your skill. BG and Ice wind dale did not give xp so in keeping with that use the lore. Just an idea to make them interesting and in line with the old style. (just conversation at this time, maybe to late at this time)
  8. http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Stronghold they have been updating. There are also guest hirelings and visitors who have much more dramatic effects on the stronghold's Security and Prestige so Dr Frankenstein coulf be a soul researcher visting:) You can begin collecting taxes from your populace as soon as you gain the stronghold. Special offers – Sometimes visitors to your stronghold will have rare items for sale, or perhaps they will offer you items in return for something else(ransom prisoner).
  9. how about Dr Frankenstein as a special hireling?
  10. Thanks I missed that. Looks like a good balance.
  11. Can you hold them for ransom?
  12. Can someone beta testing show what skill points will be rewarded with background choice during character creation ?
  13. For defense of the stronghold will we be able to place traps outside the walls. What defense's will be available, are there cannons? Will the stronghold be able to have secret passages. Does anyone have other questions?
  14. Revised Skill Progression You can no longer spend points to upgrade skills during level up. All skill advancement is now done through Talents, and thematically grouped Talents will award additional skill points if chosen during level up. Your background choice during character creation will also reward additional skill points Could a tester show us what the additional skill points are? Thank You
  15. Sorry up late one night and a old wish list on steam for this was update. Since then it has been removed. Chaos Chronicles was a Baldur's gate like rpg kick starter that was supposed to come out in 2013. At ninety percent finished finished ran into legal problem and was pulled. The German company looked to be doing it right and I've noticed others pointing to games as reference of interest.
  16. Chaos chronicles showed up on steam as century of chaos
  17. Currently there is no role clear definition of what backgrounds do for role playing other than the beginning dialog. I'm trying to flush out backgrounds discussing attributes, skills, beginning reputation, dialog options or some aspect to make it a valuable role-playing tool. Background is the start of a characters development, and influenced by the culture they grew up in. You can change but you still retain your skills to some percent and what ever reputation you once had. Work it into dialog npc interaction or skill set. What do you think/
  18. yes like background clergy reputation say benevolent, background raider rep Cruel. list of rep from wiki Aggressive – can be interpreted as hot-headed, bold, or impatient. Some character will think that you provoke fight and make only trouble, but others admire you for taking charge, being decisive or not letting people push you around.[7] Benevolent – may be viewed as charitable and kind but others may consider the player weak or assume he or she will do things for free.[3] Clever – gained for being sassy/witty in dialog options.[2] May be well received by some as a sick master of burns, but other characters will assume that you are not to be taken seriously.[3] Cruel – gained for cruel/merciless actions. It doesn't typically earn you a lot of friends, but there are people who respect (and/or fear) brutality.[3] Stoic – gained for being unmoved/quiet in dialog options.[2] Passionate Diplomatic – for example gained by remaining silent when two people are arguing and you choose to not interject.[8] Honest – gained for being faithfully. e.g. telling a guard that you broke in the house.[9] Deceptive[9] Rational[10]
  19. plan b Take attributes from culture and give to background. Give culture skill bonus and change starting equipment to gold. use background for starting rep.

  21. just wondering if this caught any of the dev.'s attention?
  22. There has been many good thoughts on how to flush out your character so it is relevant in game, thank you everyone for your constitutions.
  23. If your Culture and Background each gave one of those, I'd be glad to give up the existing bonus attribute point altogether, just for the flavor of it. Agreed gkathellar. Not doing beta I missed the mention to coming from living lands gave a reputation as badass. so along with skills take out attributes and give starting rep for where you came from.
