Yeah, the discovery aspect of Morrowind is quite nice in the beginning. Though I wonder, isn't it a bit too much odd, special, magic caverns, that none of the caverns become special anymore?

I got it now. Thanks for the tutoring (sorry for my english, not sure if that was correct.) Well put, I wasn't sure how it was in detail myself about steampunk. And yeah, it's sad that many replys doesn't contain a decription of their world. Seems many missed I asked for at least some info of their world, and why they like it. NOT these, in my opinion, (no offence everybody!) pointless lists. " Please, if you feel guilty, then TELL us what we want to hear! , some info of the world, AND what YOU like about it. And hey, Musopticon, if you want to talk about your world, in greater detail, then I wouldn't mind the least! You have one devoted reader here at least! Doesn't has to be a computer or console gameworld. But please describe the worlds you're talking about. Perhaps not necessarily the planescape setting, but the other world you speak about. And some personal reflections of why you like them

Yeah I havet to agree. Morrowind's history and all that is really interesting. Especially the dwemers But the game itself is not very involving at all..
-
Aahh right, so any -punk themes cannot involve magic then in the sense of fantasy/magician-magic, is that correct? edit: Oohh, and The Great Phantom, drag up your brainstorming papers! Not only lists please, info! Your own reflections, and things like that!

Thanks Ender, and a good and consistent explanation of each world. Have to agree with you what you say, on the games that I know anything about. Couldn't you say that Shadowrun is a bit cyberpunk, and Arcanum a bit steampunk?
-
I'm sure they are, but you should also tell us WHY you think so, and tell us a bit of the world. Not just make a list please.. Same goes to you Weiser_Cain, tell us a bit at least about your own world

Beautifully told I must say though, I prefer the bit of the older WoD. And before the great chaos begins. You know, when "scary" guys and such begins waking up  and whole clans starts frenzying and all.. It's typical, but some of the clans that I really really like, becomes extinct very early.
-
Aahh, but of course Kaftan Barlast, how could I've forgotten WoD!? From the first time I came in contact with that world, I was HOOKED! That world has really got a feeling of that great things could happen, allthough it is a very dark place. And there's just so many secrets to be uncovered that I'd take several lifetimes just to find a few "

Aahh yes, if I remember it right,(mind, long time ago) the gods had already left Krynn in Dragonlance Chronicles, mostly anyways. So that's probably what I'm most familiar to. Edit: Aahh thanks Musopticon? Have to say I most often prefer a less magic heavy world, but the old Dragonlane sure sounds interesting. "a polis-like feel", that sounds.. lovely Hehe, just can't keep my hands off something that feels very obscure. Or as it sounds to me what you're saying. something of a more totalitarian society, or on the edge to become one?
-
Something like that Dragon Lance has changed a lot though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Really? I've only read the Dragonlance Chronicles.. the other series after that, and perhaps one other book. I think(?) the Dragonlance Chronicles have at least several couple of years to it, so what books would you say would symbol the "old" Dragonlance world around 92... and Which would symbol the present world of Dragonlance? You know of any examples?

Boy, that sure sounds interesting, have to check it out I think! That just leaves you with one big question. What's outside the citywalls if only one city can be that chaotic?
-
Haha allright, sure missed something there! Thanks.

Jupp, I know it's a part of the FR, but still. Isn't FR more like a universe, and Planescape just a part of it, with its own realm? And yes, FF8 had quite an interesting world. But I'm a bit biased(?) there, because I truly love the characters in the game. I don't think you really had too much of a view of the world in general in FF8. Did ya? Don't exactly remember. But hey, don't forget the most important part. The explanation. Why did you choose Forgotten Realms as your favourite gameworld? Excuse my english..

As it says. What gameworld would you like to experience again? Not asking which game is the best. Not which game has the greatest characters either. But the world in general. Which one has the most unique feeling to it, and why is that? Personally I would prefer the world of Arcanum, as it is a quite "simple" world and... yet not? I like the clash of magicians, knights and inventors. The world seems to function just about as it did in our world some houndred years ago. At the same time there's a revolution of science opposing the good old system existing of magic and weapons, a clash of opinions. Should we really go farther with this new knowledge, what will the consequences be? It's a really interesting world, in the process of creating a new one. Please share your opinions of the gameworld you've fallen in love with and the reason to it! Tell us a bit of how the world is.

Aahh yes.. while for example FF8 and Morrowind certainly has some great sounds, Arcanum's music has an almost unique feeling to it. For me, the music from Arcanum feels magical, and very old.. Outdated a few hundred years ago..

Haha okay Can't say I usually like his acting, but somehow he seems so very.. different from his usual self in Gladiator. Don't you agree?
-
Aahh yes, I've played Rome: Total war, and it's a really great game! Still playing actually, haven't finished it yet. Whats that all about feeding Russell Crowe to the crabs he's truly a great gladiator!
-
Gaaah, I'm not talking about any damn TES game! I wan't to be able to meet Brutus, kill Julius, and free Russell Crowe!
-
Haha you're disgusting Volourn. I was getting ready for dinner, until you made me loose my appetite!

I have longed for a long long time after a rpg based around ancient rome. May not be the best looking game I've ever seen, a bit empty at places. But as we all know, graphics ain't everything. I'm a bit worried though, my biggest wish would have been some sort of political rpg. Not a questing hack&slash game as I get feeling it will be. And it's going to have fantasy monsters and such, wich may work, but doesn't seem fit to me. What do you guys think? Anyone ever played that game "Teudogar and the alliance with Rome": http://www.teudogar.com/home.htm That was such a great game and it felt like you could change everything around you. Great executed, and it was only made by 2 people I think. What are game developers up to nowadays?
-
Aahh yes, I can understand your worries. IF TES is the best they can do at creating atmosphere and characters, this coming falloutgame would probably be doomed in my opinion. But.. have faith my friend and I shall listen to thy prayers. I wouldn't say that they can't create an atmosphere, because I think in some areas of Morrowind, they have proven to be great at it, but in many parts they have failed. The biggest problem with TES is just the characters. Or the lack of character. I though can't believe that they would see the fallout-project in the same view as TES, and I sure hope they won't. Best wishes, God. edit: Haha, yes. That would be terrible But they have hopefully learned by now(or will most companies ever?) that it's not something wanted in a game.

Seems like most of you guys are really scared for changes and everything that isn't BlackIsle..? I would have to say it feels great with some renewal. New thoughts, new plot and probably a really great (looking) engine to boost. I mean, okay it isn't BIS as it was supposed to be, but that's how it is now. Fallout was never about top-down view, not in my opinion at least. It's about the atmosphere and characters, right? If they pull this off, and just not tries to make it to much like morrowind(shallow and boring) I think it has the possibility to become great. I love top-down, but I would really like to see the Fallout world in it's full "glory" and would welcome changes, as long as they don't prove to be too negative compared to the positive changes. Just my thoughts, don't flame me please Anyone here a scaper btw?
