  1. Erm - maybe you can explain to me how ingesting something without calories can "put you on weight"? If - of course - I'm correct in my understanding of what you mean by that odd little turn of phrase. My mother's drunk nothing but Diet Rite for twenty-odd years and has yet to exceed 140 lbs or so. Edit: No, I'm not kidding - or I'm only barely kidding. She doesn't drink water or milk or orange juice or anything except: (1) Diet Rite at home (2) Diet Pepsi while out (3) Diet Coke if out and the place doesn't serve Pepsi products
  2. I'm not sure gasoline and a match would do it very well. I doubt those discs are very flammable by themselves, though I suppose you could toss them into an open flame already going. But no - the best thing to do if you want to "burn" a DVD or CD is place it in the microwave. It'll crisp up nicely. (I've done so, for kicks. You should too.) If you want to pirate games, well .... it's a pain in the ass. If you have to ask, here, how to do it, then you're better off just forgetting the whole thing. Buy used.
  3. So - how're your coworkers doin'? I think it's pretty obvious that there are significant advantages to console gaming over PC gaming, for reasons that have been stated here and elsewhere a gazillion times; there's no reason for me to go over it again. Three things will contribute to what I believe will be PC gamings final destruction: (1) Widespread adoption of broadband internet appears to be occurring, and about the same time that consoles are taking advantage of what this offers. (2) The next generation consoles will have graphics far above the capabilities of computers that most people can afford, including the tech savy (e.g. me). (3) Hi, Opal. About the only sort of game that I doubt I'll ever be able to play effectively on a console is interactive fiction. And even then, there're programs available for at least the Dreamcast to play them, and I suppose I could finagle an XBox into doing the same thing.
  4. My secondary wallpaper, which I'm rather fond of: Edit: it doesn'ts eem to want me to attach the wallpaper. Shrug. It's just a screenshot of some timecube ramblings.
  5. I switch off. Natalie from Scary Go Round (www.scarygoround.com) is my current wallpaper; the wisdom of the timecube guy (www.timecube.com) is my secondary wallpaper.
  6. I don't understand why anybody rents games. It's - what - five bucks at blockbuster for a few days, and no average non-obsessive joe could finish most games in that time. No, the best thing to do is limit yourself to older titles and buy 'em cheap - 15 - 20 bucks. There are many great games for the gamecube in that price range - wind waker, viewtiful joe, metroid prime, eternal darkness, animal crossing, and so on. I'm guessing it's even more so for the Playstation 2, with its huge library. As to which console to get ... I dunno. I wish I'd gotten an x-box, because it has more games that interest me than the cube, and what I've seen of playstation exclusives don't do much for me. But the gamecube was _cheap_.
  7. There's been a rumor for some time that the next-gen consoles for Microsoft and Nintendo would be the same. If so, I'm cool with that - I can only afford one console at a time. More games = happier me!
  8. I was looking forward to it, hoping it'd be playable for me, but: I tried playing previous Resident Evil games, but I simply could not get used to that moronic control scheme. Frustrating. The game looks beautiful, though; the Gamecube needs more games like this. I just wish I had any desire to play it now. Darn you, Capcom!
  9. Maybe my opinion doesn't count, since I'm a lurker, but I'd _really_ appreciate not having any extra clutter or idiotic flashiness. There's absolutely no gain to having bigger avatars. Heck, I'd go so far as to advocate removal of pictures embedded in posts. I hate hate hate hate hate those banners that people use as sigs - especially if they post numerous times to the same thread. Why is that necessary? It just looks stupid and takes up display space and bandwidth.
  10. I'd be interested in hearing what proof there is that Deleware is KOTOR2, other than the circumstantial facts that the project's using previously fabricated IP and has something to do with Bioware? Oh, sure, it's probably KOTOR2. But is there really any proof?
