  1. Sure, a toolset would be nice but they won't make one. This has been pretty clear. As for those tools I was talking about, you will find them here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think your misunderstanding me. I looked at those tools. They appear to be all stuff for editing and bascially Haking current content in KOTOR. I'm not asking for ways to modify KOTOR. I can see though that I posted this thread in the wrong forums. I should have posted them in the NWN forums. I just thought there was some Star Wars fans in here that could appreciate my interest in a more powerful Star Wars gaming tool. KOTOR is a single player "console" game. It doesn't have the possibility of doing what I am describing here.
  2. There's a game coming out that I believe uses the NWN engine, and looks really nice despite being tilebased. Tile based does not necessarily mean NWN style. If someone can remember the name of that game for me I would really appreciate it. I think it had "witch" in it or something like that. Or they have played them. The vast majority of those mods suck ass. And for joe-schmoe user, using the toolset is not exactly great fun. Sure the adventures you can create are almost limitless....unfortunately most the people out there cannot design a module worth crap. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I believe the "Witch" game your talking about is "The Witches Wake". It's an "official" Neverwinter Nights mod. So for all purposes it IS Neverwinter Nights. As far as the majority of the downloadable mods "sucking ass"... You may be right. But when you have thousands of people building them, of course you will get some crap. If you want to play a quality one, then you should to to a web site that rates them according to quality and download a good one. If you ask me, there are mods out there that are better than the official Neverwinter Nights campaign game.
  3. The only thing I can think of that they wouldn't like about this idea is that they may lose some sort of control over things being created. But, they already allow a d20 Star Wars RPG. I don't see what the difference would be. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd guess that most of the people voting no have never played a NWN mod or created one using the toolset. It's somewhat hard to get people excited about something they don't understand. Basically the adventures you can create using the toolset and scripting language are almost limitless.
  4. I think NWN has created a huge following because of all the custom content and creativity that it allows. I ran a persistant world server using NWN that allowed up to 30 people to log in and play at the same time. There was a lot of adventuring, role playing, player vs player duels, and much more. When things were going good, I would add new content and places to explore almost weekly. When we didn't have new content or quests we would have PvP tournaments and offer prizes to the winners. It's a lot of fun. I just wish I could do the same with a Star Wars game. Btw, players on my server also had their own homes installed that they could design themselves. Imagine having your little jedi hovel hidden in some forest someplace that you designed and decorated yourself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WLle then design a NEW engine for KOTOR 3 jsut add tiddbits of NWN but dont go aroudn modleign a Starwars engine that works adn is oproven around another game's <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, the problem with that is the limitations of the KOTOR engine. The NWN engine and toolset is already made. It wouldn't be hard to convert it to a Star Wars game. Btw, I'm not trying to take KOTOR away from you guys. What I'm suggesting is another game. I just wanted to see how many people here would be interested in it.
  5. There are other games from LA that are moddable. I think it has something to see with the xbox too. They want the same product on both platforms. This has been discussed various times in the past: See these posts per example: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...indpost&p=25967 and http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...indpost&p=19954 About the format, we have this info: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=1564&hl= I don't have a problem with the devs not releasing a toolset: it is time and $ and we can make our own tools. Kotor 1 tools are getting better every day but there is still a lot to do. What would be nice and helpful, would be to have some documentation or information, even very informal, such as on the model format. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't have a problem with KOTOR being release the way they plan for it to be released. But, there is no reason why a Star Wars game can't be release like I described above. Star Wars Galaxies isn't available on the Xbox... I'm sure there are other Star Wars games that came out on the PC only or the Xbox only. There is also no reason why they can't build a game that is available on both xbox and PC which has a toolset shipped with the PC version. I don't really know what your talking about as far as KOTOR 1 tools. I'm guessing your talking about people making mods for it. This isn't at all what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a full on toolset with scripting abilities and such like the Aurora toolset for NWN. I can't imagine someone creating entire new cities using some sort of mod tool created for KOTOR 1.
  6. It has a dvd PLAYER, but i do not think it has teh cabailiteis to play DVD-ROMs as games seeing aas how u need to buy a special attachment in order to play them, and even so its primative at best. Nevertheless KOTOR is better on Xbox, ive played it for both PC and Xbox and i must admit, while msot games ARE better on the PC, Xbox is the way to go with kotor. If you have one that is; no sense in runnign out and buying the Xbox just for KOTOR, but given the choice, i suggest teh Xbox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've played KOTOR on both systems as well. I still think it was better on the PC. But, there was still the console feel when I played on the PC which I think Bioware could have improved. I also think that the xbox could play a game that was made on DVD. If you buy the Trilogy boxed set you will see that it came with a special feature DVD that also has a demo of the new Battlefront game. It's on a DVD and you can play it using your regular game controller.

  9. Well, even Neverwinter Nights came with an official campaign when it was released. But, there was a lot of replay ability due to player created mods that were free to download. It's the best of both worlds because not only does everyone have a new game to play, they also have the ability to create their own.
  10. I understand. Getting everyones opinion is the whole reason for the poll. Btw, I meant to put this thread in the "Suggestions" area. I apologize.
  11. They needed a better bowcaster. If he could have done some serious harm with a bowcaster I would have found him a bit more cool to have along. Overall I thought the ranged weapons in the game were somewhat lacking... Granted they shouldn't have been much help against force wielders... But, they should have been very effective against tuskens and such.
  12. Maybe the double bladed lightsaber should have more crystal slots? I personally like a single saber with the dueling feat. I found that with this setup if I could stop spamming specials and I would last a bit longer so that my support NPC's could heal me. But, then I guess with more offense I may not need to last so long. I guess it's a trade off and that's how it should be.
  13. I wished Bioware had created the original KOTOR in this way. But, unfortunately I think they didn't because it was most likely originally intended for the XBox. But, I have heard of some plans for multi-player games that will be able to support console gamers and computer gamers joining each other on the same servers. I think this would be fantastic. It is also totally possible.
  14. I agree. I think Star Wars Galaxies used actual motion capture for their character animations... I wonder if LucasArts has these or if Sony created them?
  15. I just didn't like the "power attack" animation. I stopped even taking that feat just because I thought it looked so inappropriate. I mean, come on, who does a flip in the air like that when they are in a sword duel? I did like most of the rest of the animations though. I think my favorite animations were when you did no special moves at all and your character would parry and throw kicks in once in a while.
  16. This is kind of what I had in mind, except I was just thinking of showing a few movies of you as a child in training. But, I like your idea of actually participating in the childhood a bit. btw, I like the picture if Bariss.
  17. I personally would like to see more characters that start out with a history of growing up in the academy.
  18. I agree. I don't think it would be all that difficult to let people wander the country a bit. Even when playing KOTOR on a PC it gives you a very closed in feeling much like most of the games available for the consoles. Even the movement screams console game. That was my only complaint with KOTOR. Atleast that was the only complaint once I accepted the fact that it was single player and had no toolset. Oh, and only one race available for the PC. Considering how great of a game it was even without this other stuff. I can't imagine how great it would have been if Bioware HAD including these other things and still maintained the same quality.
  19. I would be more pissed at Microsoft than anyone. They are evil empire at the moment. The bottom line is that Money talks and Microsoft has a lot power. If they want a game released for their platform first then so be it. I bought an xbox and I think it's a piece of junk. I mostly use it to watch DVD's now and it doesn't even do that well. I'll never buy another xbox game. Infact I wouldn't even use Microsoft windows if that wasn't basically the only option for running mainstream software.
  20. I think your right about the KOTOR engine not supporting a toolset. That is why I originally doubted the first idea would work. But, it wouldn't be all that difficult to use the NWN2 engine for the creation of a KOTOR3. I personally don't like the engine bioware used to create KOTOR. I guess that's what happens when they create a game for the xbox and then port it to the PC later. I don't think LucasArts is necessarily against expansions... I think it's just a difficult process because of the license and getting content approved or some such nonsense that big corporations bring to the table. Although, I do agree that LucasArts do need to keep a handle on content.
  21. Toolset for creation of custom content! How hard could it be to convert the NWN or NWN2 toolset/engine for use on a Star Wars game? Btw, give the guy a break. The developers may even be thinking of a sequel already. Who knows...
  22. I have two possible suggestions. The first is that KOTOR2 be designed with a toolset like the original NWN. I think this would greatly increase the interest in this game. But, since I believe that this option is most likely not possible, I
  23. I think the best character customization that I've ever seen to date was in Star Wars Galaxies. People there would still like more hair options... But, over all it's very easy to create a character that looks unlike anyone elses.
