NASA's Advanced Solar Sail Has Successfully Deployed in Space
QuoteOn Tuesday a RocketLab Electron rocket launched NASA's new Advanced Composite Solar Sail System. It aims to test the deployment of large solar sails in low-earth orbit and on Wednesday, NASA confirmed they had successfully deployed a 9 metre sail. It is made from flexible polymer and carbon fibre materials to create a stiffer, lighter alternative to existing support structure designs.

It's pretty much a miracle that Andor turned out the way it did. I have no idea how the hell that could happen, considering the quality of everything else Star Wars.
Yes, easily the best of their live action series, although their animated series were decent at times.

You make some good points here Wormie, especially " It seems Sven has a vision that he wants to reach one day and BG3 was just a stepping stone toward it. They took BG3 IP as they needed money and profile to evolve beyond D:OS2. Now they have both and they can do the next thing. "
Maybe we will see D:OS3 because I assume they want to have control of what IP they create
The risk with creating your own IP is it doesnt have the same global footprint as an established IP like D&D but look at games like Dark Souls or other JRPG, they have there own IP and they do very well
I can only hope they learned a few things about more realistic character level advancement, because spending points on attributes every level seems like a poor way to do it. You end up with very asymmetrical characters.

It has ups and downs. It runs more into Season 5 of Rebels as it pulls back most of that crew in one form or another. And you do get a fairly nice performance from Thrawn, but not until the last couple of episodes of the season.
Edit: Also, Ray Stevenson has a standout performance in it as it goes. Which since it's his final performance, adds a certain emotion to watching it.
Yeah, you pretty much need to binge the Rebels series first just for the character development. I've been catching up on the new Bad Batch episodes and it seems like the series has taken a much darker turn (and not just from all the night scenes). But the graphics are quite nice for an animated show.

Is it just me, or does this make it look like a comedy? I mean there's funny stuff in FO's, sure, but ...
That said, Walton Goggins is the main reason I might try the show. That and it's on Prime, which I have. The Fallout setting seems to be on the satirical side. Plus a little humor doesn't hurt, even in a post-apocalyptic setting. Just look at the first few Terminator movies.

I have heard very good things about Underrail, is it a good party based RPG? Has anyone got any views
I've played it several times, but never really got into it. It's not party-based and you seem to spend a lot of time with your character walking from place to place. The character building process seems unbalanced, but the game has a lot of unique detail. For me, a comparable game play-style-wise would be Divine Divinity, although I enjoyed DD much more.

I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I still find the Dune (2000) mini-series was the most faithful to the actual novels. It doesn't have the visual fireworks you see in the films, of course, but a longer TV series can cover the more mental aspects that made the books work.

Started watching Extraordinary on Hulu. It's effing hilarious. British humour. Rated MA.

I finished up the Loki series on Disney.
For a god of mischief, that outcome sure seems like a less than desirable day job. But okay...
Why do fantasy stories (almost) always seem so utterly random? They're basically "random sh*t happens", the end.

Picked up the physical dvd set of Dollhouse, so having a slow binge of that over the weekend.
It's a little interesting to have the commentary of Eliza Dushku and Joss Whedon having a jokey banter over it all and Joss apologising for going too Michael Bay with camera shots between motorbikes and focusing on short skirts and that mix of occasional OTT byplay.
Funny, I used to really enjoy the stuff that Whedon put out on screen. But now, knowing what we know, it's all got a creepy edge to it. But yeah, Dollhouse was a pretty good series. I wouldn't mind a remake with a longer run.

Personally I prefer not to shoot up the tanks. Just let the fish swim in peace.

So excellent game and Im really disappointed there wont be a PoE3
At the time I had a sense that the game suffered a lot of criticism on release and didn't sell as well as expected. That may be why we didn't see a sequel. However, the responses seem better these days so perhaps there will be growing nostalgia?

Yeah I'm looking forward to trying out some of the user created modules next. I've read in places that some of those modules are really very good.
Yes, I've tried some of them; a few are quite good. They can suffer a bit from balance issues though. Perhaps from a lack of play testing?

Still working through the Palace of Ice DLC of Solasta. I'm enjoying it so far. The factions questlines are not mutually exclusive the way they were in the previous DLC, and I'm actually liking that. And they have been interesting so far. Just now reached level 15 with my party.
Yes, I've finished most of that campaign now. It's pretty decent, about on a par with the other Solasta campaigns. I'm not sure how much I want to finished the final slog though. The best part is the new add-on tilesets and other features that are sure to start showing up in user modules. It might even be possible to build an Icewind Dale-like campaign now.

"The Hundred Years War" by Jonathan Sumption, or at least the first volume thus far. It's a lengthy read.

I caught this via a posting on ModDB: there's a kickstarter underway for Undershadows, which bills itself as a 'horror adventure RPG'. Considering the low financial goals and hand-drawn graphics, this game actually seems surprisingly creative and artistic. It's targeted at a young audience though. There's a demo available.

Going back to give Tyranny another try. I'm enjoying it a little more now.

Yes, Shogun was a pretty historical drama.
The live action version of The Tick has been available on FreeVee, so I've been amused by that.
