Generic fantasy setting?
Vulee replied to Metabot's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
"Generic fantasy" is such a stupid term. I see kiddies od IMDB forums call Game of Thrones "generic" fantasy all the time. Hell, some even label Warcraft as "generic" and that stuff is almost as full of wierd random crap as a China Mieville novel. Don't think anyone is is able to explain what "generic fantasy" means, that's just something that kids who don't know s*** about fantasy like to throw around. -
I agree. They have already strayed a little too much from the proven fantasy template, at least for my liking.

You might see it that way, rest of us might see it differently. For me "progress" means death of romance and wonder. We no longer have a world of high adventure and mystery, instead we have a boring place ruled by cold science. You know, the same place from which many of us are trying to escape through books and games. I'm sorry but I do not want that kind of "fantasy".

Do we wont firearms? NO, we don't! We expect cRPG in classy high fantasy setting, not some SF/steampunk/new weird/jRPG junk. Project Eternity should be a successor to series like Baldur's Gate and NWN, not Arcanum 2. Presence of any kind of firearms or other advanced tech will force me withdraw my pledge. These things have no place in high fantasy.
