  1. I'm surprised nobody has brought up Fallout:Tactics. For all that was wrong with that game, I thought they did a great job at the RTwP thing, so much so that I was never able to go back to Fallout 1 & 2 afterwards, since the combat seemed so primitive in comparison. And I'd love it if we could set ranged character to overwatch mode in Project Eternity. My go-to tactic in both Baldur's Gate games was to have my ranger sneak off, attack a group of mobs, and pull them back to the rest of the party, who would then wipe the mobs out with spells and missile weapons. Sadly, that type of gameplay has been tricky in more recent RTwP games, since companion controls have been so wonky and the AI so bad. Also, since this subject has come up several times in this thread, I find turn-based combat to be far, far more immersion-breaking than RTwP.
  2. Well said OP. The one thing I hope they don't take from PS:T is the visual aesthetic. Really hated the color palette and the overall look of the world.
  3. I'm generally pro-romance, but I wouldn't say that I have any interest in "sexualized content." I personally don't care if the romances delve into the sexual element at all. What bothers me, specifically in the context of role-playing games, is when the subject of romance isn't dealt with at all. If there's an organic reason to not have romances, then sure, don't include them. I don't want video games to become like mainstream movies where the protaganist automatically has to have a romantic interest even if it makes no sense whatsoever to the story. But the way most CRPGs are structured, leaving out romances seems like a weird omission. So really, I've been spending months traveling the world with the hot druidess, undergoing shared traumas and saving the world, and the subject of romance never comes up? Seriously? That strikes me as bizarre.
  4. Well, he was ugly and had a crappy accent. If he'd been handsome I might not have minded. The problem was, they gave him an Inigo Montoya accent, but did not make him as cool as Inigo Montoya. That's like false advertising.
  5. For all the furor in this thread, I really don't think anyone would care if this subject were handled in the same way in Project: Eternity as it was in F:NV. That said, I'm really amused by how upset so many people seemed to have been by Zevran in Dragon Age: Origins. A gay man flirted with your PC! What an unpardonable crime!
  6. I'd prefer there be no resurrection system, and also no perma-death. Spells like Resurrection and Raise Dead have terrible implications for story if you actually take them seriously, and perma-death just leads to reloads, as virtually everyone has pointed out. I'm very much in favor of the sort of system where getting KO'ed in combat leads to injuries you can't shake until you visit a healer. Ideally, I'd like there to be a bunch of different injuries you could acquire with different penalties, the sort of injury you get being determined by the type of attack that dropped you. It avoids the reload problem, but it also carries implications beyond just that one single fight. Plus it'll make that visit back to town after exiting the dungeon all the more sweet, as you sell off your loot and finally take care of those accumulated injuries.
  7. I'd love there to be romances in the game. Personally, it feels kind of weird to me when there aren't. I find it implausible that a bunch of people spending months together in close confines, sharing adventures wouldn't mostly end up paired off. Also, just to be a contrarian, I loved the romances in DA:O. I didn't necessarily love the romance mechanics, but I thought Leliana and Morrigan were really well written, and I very much enjoyed the way those relationships progressed. If we could get something of equal depth in this game, I'd be ecstatic.
