This is a common problem. For me, it is most likely to happen when I control T3-M4, but can at times happen when controlling the Exile... You can't prevent that from happening. The only way to unstuck your character is the one you use: save and reload. (the loot should still be there after reloading but you can actually get it even when you're stuck. Click on it, you'll see. You can also open footlockers and such...) Fortunately it doesn't happen that often.

It's time for KOTOR fans to unite!
Togruta replied to irishballista's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm with you. But TOR is already produced and set to be released in a few months. It'll kill the KOTOR storyline probably by telling us that our beloved Revan was killed like some punk by the Sith Emperor... I think LucasArts is aware of the fan disappointement but simply doesn't give a damn as long as the game sells and that it pays their secondary residence in Barbados. But yeah, it angers me too. If they wanted to make an MMO that bad, they could have at least created another franchise and left the KotOR story open for those willing to finish it properly. Obsidian for instance. -
The droid merchant is just in front of the doc's house. You really can't miss it... He looks like those protocol droid who act as tour guides on some of the planets you visit... As for the glitch, it is actually NOT a glitch. HK units are programmed not to attack each other, therefore when HK-47 is in your party he does not take part in the battle and stays several yards behind (and rejoins the party afterwards) This does look rather awkward but you have to remember that the HK-50 storyline wasn't properly completed and refined by the developers...

I don't have much of a problem with using the mouse... Do you check the radar before aiming and firing? Coz if you don't, yeah you could have a hard time (well, not that much...) hitting them all in time... Do not move the mouse around constantly, chasing them randomly. Pick one, wait for it to approach the Ebon Hawk and fire. Their attack maneuvers are always the same. When you get the gist of it, it becomes piss easy. (you can actually destroy most of them in the first second, since they all start right in front of you)

I'm with you here. But personally, I enjoyed the game thoroughly even without the Restored Content. I also agree that K2 had better writing, better character developement, better immersion, I enjoyed the dark and serious atmosphere, though K1 had a more epic story, more likable characters, and was a finished product. That's why, just like you I would have prefered Kotor 3 to be made by Obsidian. The Star Wars universe definitely lacks this kind of more mature, intellectually deeper material... But K3 will NEVER be made. They might keep the franchise alive and one day release another RPG with entirely different characters and storyline. But K3 as a sequel to K2 is dead and buried, since TOR is expected to close the Revan/Exile (most likely in an unimaginably disappointing way). LucasArts has done nothing but rape the best thing that happened to Star Wars since Episode V... Sometimes I wonder if George Lucas isn't just jealous of a franchise that clearly outshines his prequel movies...

I don't think tech support even exists anymore for K2... Anyway they couldn't help you. This is a bug and since it wasn't fixed in any patch, it isn't fixable at all. As I said, it's only a moderately annoying bug... You won't have to control T3 for more than 15-20 minutes if I recall correctly AND you can actually avoid fighting other droids... It's a bit ridiculous to say that this bug detracts you from progressing into the game...
-
Scrap that. Just ignore him. It's not that big deal, even though Gerevick does deserve to be killed slowly and painfully...
-
I disagree. This is a terrific mod, I can't imagine playing without it, if only for the HK factory. The only major bug associated to it was the Red Eclipse glitch. But even that was fixed in the latest version. I'd say it's probably a corrupted save, a missing file or something. I don't know how far back you went when loading an earlier save... Try loading before you even landed on Dantooine.
-
It's not supposed to prevent the cutscene from triggering. You can't prevent the bug, you can only fix it. Once the cutscene has triggered, save/quit without ever boarding the Ebon Hawk, and then perform the edit... The EH will no longer be under lockdown and all will be back to normal...
-
This bug occurs when you play with the Restored Content mod... They had this bright idea to add triggers for the Red Eclipse quest all over the Nar Shaddaa Landing Pad instead of just one at the exit of the Refugee Sector... As a result, the quest will re-trigger each time you hit one of those spots... (don't get near the swoop tracks) First, one way to totally avoid this is to download the *latest* version of the restored content mod (1.7), in which this particular bug has been fixed: http://deadlystream.com/forum/showthread.php?t=240 (won't be compatible with your current save, though) Now, the only way to fix this problem if you have it is to edit you save with the KSE... DO NOT ENTER THE EBON HAWK once the bug is in effect . Under Globals > Numerics > locate the line "351Nar_Bounty_Board" and change the 0 to 1. and also 301Nar_Red_Eclipse_At should be at 0. Apply/commit change (always make a second back-up save every time you use the KSE)

Question about feats for my character...
Togruta replied to AsILayDying's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Exactly. Really, the game was designed for you to play with lightsabers and force powers. It's almost as if they purposedly designed blasters to be lame and downright awkward to use. They're only there for your companions to provide supporting fire... -
Question about feats for my character...
Togruta replied to AsILayDying's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You should really focus on feats related to lightsaber/melee combat. Max out Flurry, Power Attack and Critical Strike. Also add Finesse:Lightsaber, and Lightsaber Specialization (but maybe you get that for free as a Guardian) Ditch those stinking blasters, you're a JEDI for Yoda's sake! Toughness/Conditioning really aren't necessary for your main PC, only add those when you have maxed out important feats and are left with spare points you don't know how to use... Only add Two-Weapon Fighting if you're certain you're gonna use two weapons consistently throughout the game, or else it's a complete waste... I don't think there are any *Heavy* Armor that doesn't restrict Force Powers. Armor that don't restrict them have a distinct medieval knight look and it is stated in the description that they allow to you use powers. That said, I can think of only one moment in the game where I actually needed an armor. Most of the time, you'll want to wear Jedi Robes. So Armor feats are OK, but optional. As for powers, Energy Resistance and indeed most defensive powers are completely useless in my experience and a waste of points, especially as the game progresses. Why? Because by the time you reach level 15, your PC pretty much becomes Terminator and wipes out any opposition in seconds... Master Energy Resistance absorbs 20 points, which doesn't make that much of a difference when you have 250 vitality points or more... Add only Force Armor. I think you should get more offensive powers... I mean, they are too much fun to use... and in a room full of Dark Jedi, your lightsaber skills won't be enough to save you. Light/neutral/defensive powers: Force Wave (great for "crowd control"), Stasis Field, Destroy Droid, Master Valor, Master Heal, Master Speed, Battle Meditation... Force Immunity can be useful at the very end for a light-sider. Don't be afraid to use those -
Can't start the game, video drivers?
Togruta replied to Dirts McGerts's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
When the game crashes on start-up, it usually involves a problem with the mss32.dll file. You need to replace the mss32.dll file in C:\Program Files\Lucasarts\swkotor2\ with the same mss32.dll from KotOR 1. If you don't have KotOR 1 installed on your system, you can download a mss32.dll file from plenty of sites... Now, I answered you, but I probably shouldn't have since this is a fix you could have easily found yourself had you searched this forum and others... -
Look: http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=...2188ee12107320c Some other people encountered this glitch. Apparently "I'm broken, so very very broken" is some kind of message the devs put into the game to warn you that the game is... well, broken. Going back seems to be the only solution...
-
I don't think it's possible to fix this using the KSE. The game files themselves are likely to be corrupted. And unless you know what you're doing, you could create other problems by trying to fix this one. Why don't you just go back? As I said, it's not like you have to replay the whole game... It's only: warehouse> Jekk Jekk Tarr> Goto's yacht> chatting with/killing Mr. Moustache. It can be done in a few hours...
-
Bad StrRef=Bad String Reference This essentially means that your save is corrupted (damaged 2da file and such)... I dont think there's anything you can do besides loading a previous uncorrupted save. You're saying you have a clean save at the warehouse? It could be much worse... The warehouse is not that far from the end of Nar Shaddaa... From now on, save a lot, and each time in different slots to avoid this kind of inconvenience.
-
Well, I can agree with you on that... Personally, it never thought it was necessarily up to BioWare to develop KotOR3... Indeed, from an artistic point of view, it would make more sense for it to be made by Obsidian since it's a follow up of the game they created and would answer the questions they raised. And also because I expected KotOR 3 to have the same gloomy atmosphere and hopelessness that characterised K2. THAT SAID, this argument is rendered kinda irrelevant by the fact that you produced a sequel to KotOR 2 in the form of The Old Republic. One that is completely based on storylines introduced in KotOR 2: the True Sith, Revan's disappearance in the Unknown Regions. Had BioWare simply said: "KotOR 2 introduced story arc that we are not responsible for and it's not up to us to finish what they started", most fans would have accepted that and instead would have harrassed Obsidian until they produced the sequel (which I'm sure that they would have eventually). By making TOR, they have 1). not given us the direct sequel that we wanted, one with Revan and the Exile being central characters and ALIVE; 2). destroyed any chance of us ever seeing that sequel being made by anyone, by still bringing K2's storyline to a conclusion, but not in the way we expected.

Have you searched the forum? This sounds like something that can be solved by disabling Vertex Buffer objects. (add the line Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 under [Graphics options] in swkotor.ini) or this: http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showt...amp;mode=linear

What you describe is exactly the problem I encounter every now and then: T3 won't move after battling other droids, but is able to move when you click on a door or a footlocker. But in my case, saving and reloading does the trick. (that is, saving at the exact point where he's frozen, not loading a save at a previous point) If T3 remains stuck after reloading, and even after saving>quitting to Windows>reloading, then it's weird... A solution that comes to mind is simply to avoid the battle altogether and just move on to the next room.
-
When you say he "still keeps freezing", do you mean he's already stuck from the moment you load the game or does he freeze only a few moments after that? As I said, T3-M4 freezes during/after combat, you actually may have to repeat the procedure after each combat... Sometimes, you may even have to quit the application completely. Luckily, you won't have to control him for a long time...
-
Are you playing the Prologue? Because, you know, the Prologue can be skipped... Other than that, T3-M4 can "freeze" after a combat and stop responding to arrow keys... You have to save and re-load to unstuck him.
-
You know, Alan works for BioWare, so he's trying to sell his game... Whatever argument you throw at him, he'll just keep telling you that making The Old Republic instead of KotOR 3 was the best idea in the history of mankind...

You should be able to convert Disciple on the spot before you even left the room where you meet him. Like Mira, he's convertable through dialog options. You can use the influence guide I gave you a link to, but figuring out the answers is not that hard. Starting a new game is strongly advised when using this mod, anyway (it's easy to understand why). I just finished a playthrough with it. It IS a terrific mod. It pretty much restores the game close to the state it was originally supposed to be in, before LucasArts decided to rape it... Yeah, I believe the dark side path is supposed to be more comical than anything. It pretty much turns the game into GTA in space. The dark side path in KotOR 1 ended up being a lot well, darker when you had to The problem when playing dark side is that your force-sensitive companions are influenced by LS dialog options or acts (except Atton), which means you have to pick up LS points if you want to convert them... (unless you turn them into Jedi of opposite alignment, but that makes no sense to me storywise... plus you don't get to see your NPC's cool dark facial features). As a result, you gain Dark Mastery much later than you gain Light Mastery. I gained Light Mastery as soon as I landed on Nar Shaddaa as 1st planet, and DS mastery only on Dxun as my 2nd planet...
-
Yeah, that makes sense... Lootra generally gives you a lightsaber part for finding his wife, but I imagine you had already built your lightsaber by then. I also seem to remember recieving a saber from that quack doctor. The Sith assassins on Dxun also make sense (especially if you exploit the fact that they spawn indefinitely). But I still consider that to be late into the game, especially if your intention is to give one to each of your companions. When I said that lightsabers were less readily available than in the first game, it was more relative, I guess. The supply/demand ratio is not in your favor since you need at least 6 lightsabers, preferably as early as your first post-Telos planet. If you think about it, in Kotor 1 you didn't even need to find lightsabers since all your force-sensitive NPC already came equipped with one... The game developers should have taken into account the fact that you need more extra sabers and made them more readily available... ---------------------------------- You can still get Mira in a DS playthrough if you 1). refrain from gaining DS points until you meet her. 2). manipulate your alignment by editing your save and then restore it. Mira is pretty hot as a Dark Jedi But since you have yet to explore the DS storyline, I guess you'll want to get to know the walking carpet... Disciple is a wimp but has an interesting backstory. Overall, I liked the chemistry the male Exile has with his female entourage better (and Kreia's remarks about it)
-
Wow! You *found* all this? That's insane. I'm currently halfway through my third planet and I have yet to find my first regular lightsaber. (save for the one I built of course) I got a dual bladed in Vogga's secret room and a short saber was given to me by Vrook I believe, that's it. But since I despise short and double-bladed lightsabers... Do you remember at what point exactly you were able to equip Kreia, Visas and Brianna with their lightsabers? I know lightsabers tend to turn up at the end of the game for me, when it doesn't matter anymore... And as I said earlier, I insist on choosing the color of the blade for each of my Jedi companions. Sidenote: I assume you already know that you get a slightly different set of characters depending on your gender and alignment? (you don't get Mira with a dark-sider and don't get Biranna with a female)
