I fought the law and the law won
Last summer I found out I was in jail. My girlfriend noticed that I hadn't recieved a GST cheque for some time, so I called Revenue Canada to see what was up. They asked me how had I been incarcirated for, since you don't get government money when in jail. Needless to say I was a bit surprised to discover I was in jail, since I was calling from my living room, which I pointed out to the person on the phone. She told me I had to get all these forms and send them off to some office in Prince Edward Island and whatnot, which I didn't think was very good. So I went to the local MP's (Member Of Parliament) office and spoke to the office manager who managed to bust me out of the joint in about a week. That's my big run in with the law story.

About Van Buren
Unless they can comment with absolute certainty one way or the other, they'll likely say nothing on the subject. Maybes are too risky to discuss.

About Van Buren
If anyone from Obsidian made any sort of comment on even the slightest possibility of acquring the FO license, that comment will inevitably get twisted into "Obsidian are going to get the FO license!" and the rumour mill begins to churn.

In Need Of Forum Moderators?
That's a big part of it. Mods can often only be as good as the company for whom they are modding. If the company doesn't give the moderators a clear agenda and fails to keep the moderators up to date, informed and such, the mods then don't have the proper guidelines with which to moderate. The best mods are ones who don't see the job as a big status symbol, because it's not. Moderators should just keep things relatively orderly and on a more or less even keel.

Obs Vs Bis Comparison/expectation
It's been a long time since either FO or PS:T were released, so holding people to those standards may not be realistic simply due to the passage of time. Styles, inlfuences, theories etc change, so whatever Obsidian come up with now may very well likely not mirror either FO or PS:T. I don't think comparing BIS and Obsidian is fair, either. While Obsidian clearly has a lot of BIS people, it's not the same group and may not even have the same agenda (there are some key people missing). I think comparisons may only be valid after we have a couple of Obsidian games to play. Expectations are inescapably high for Obsidian, and justifiably so. There's some good talent there, and a desire on our part to see some really good (eg PS:T or FO) RPGs made for the PC.

Origin Of Your Name And Avatar
*raises hand* This thread is really interesting, definately the best one of the forums thus far. Hopefully it keeps going as new people join. Might even be a good sticky for the WOT forum.

Don't forget the riot shields, tear gas and rubber bullets.

In Need Of Forum Moderators?
Things could get... interesting. The old Black Isle guard roughly re-assembling after the diaspora meeting with the Star Wars fan base and Bioware kids. There's actually nice potential for a good forum. Or absolute chaos. Though I guess for some people the two are not mutually exclusive and rather go hand-in-hand.

I fear for us The Star Wars fans are legion, we are but a few.

Origin Of Your Name And Avatar
I've been using the Phosphor name for a few years now, since I was involved in the electro/industrial/whatever music scene. Picked it up as a phosphor was a sort of demon or light-bringer in Greek myth and I like the word. I can also claim to be illuminating if I'm feeling particularly sarcastic. phos

Will Project X Be A Good Game?
I'd really have to know what the game is to be able to answer that with anything more than a guess or hope. Even then, I'd need some more information. I doubt it will be crap, but then there are a lots of games that are probably good if you like the type of game it is that I'd glibly call crap anyways.

It's kind of like opening an insane asylum and shipping in the inmates before hiring any security...

Overly Restrictive Posting Policies
I think outlined rules have to be overly strict in order to facilitate room for judgement, though still allowing judgement to be ultimately and justifiably be in the administration's hands. When you look at what goes on in a message board, I think the admins need strict rules to maintain order. And since this is a new board for a new company, I don't think it's unreasonable for Obsidian to want some semblence of order and civility to start things off.

Will This Game Suck?
Yep, feedback does equal fuel, hence the feedback being provided. It's all purely intended to raise ire. These boards are off to a flying start, hm?

This is sarcasm, right? That was my thought as well..

About The Setting
Post-apocalyptic is as over-rated and cliched as traditional fantasy.

In Need Of Forum Moderators?
We definately need some moderators here. The boards haven't been up a full 24 hours yet and already people are bickering and insulting others.

Uploading doesn't work for me, either. I'll have to link to an URL I guess.

About The Setting
I'm fairly ambivalent about what setting the first Obsidian game is placed in, and if it's KOTOR2 that's fine. I can't get excited about KOTOR2 not having played the first one, but if it takes doing a sequel to a high-profile and successful game to get the Obsidian name out there, then that's fine. Particularly if that means it allows Obsidian to do an independent (ie non-licensed) RPG. Though I would like to see what MCA would do with the Star Wars universe. With a good story, good characters and so forth, the setting isn't a prime concern.
