  1. I'm not suggesting anything about women gamers. Where have I said anything about what female gamers might feel? Can you point that out please? And I'm not asking about true objectivity? Where did that come from? Also, I don't know what the difference between objectivity and true objectivity and does it even exist? All I've said is perhaps it's better to ask women about how women are portrayed instead of asking men on how women are portrayed. And you still haven't answered my questions, so I'll ask again: 1. Wouldn't it be better to get a women's perspective on the issue on how women are portrayed and what they say in a Bioware game than asking a man? 2. Wouldn't you agree that asking a woman is better? You are being pedantic now with what I am trying to explain, yes I agree women should be asked But obviously if you are going to ask women what they think about how women are being portrayed in Bioware games we have to assume they are female gamers. And you seem to not like the word objectivity, what is a better word? Why do you feel the need to ask women gamers, I agree with you but why the issue with objectivity..would the word "informed" female opinion be better"? So in summary, if you are saying you want women to comment on Bioware games they would have to be female gamers who have played the game. Not sure why you are concerned with the words "female gamers"
  2. Jadedmeister, I can't comment on the Netherlands but in South Africa we Pet Psychics and Pet Behavioral experts ( Pet Psychologists ) who do claim to understand what is going on in the mind of pets. So don't dismiss the fact that pets have feellings and thoughts too that correlate at times with ours
  3. And considering nearly half the gaming community are women, wouldn't it be better to get a women's perspective on the issue on how women are portrayed and what they say in a Bioware game than asking a man? Wouldn't you agree that asking a woman is better? Okay, so you suggesting that women gamers may feel that the comments from Isabela might be inappropriate on some levels? In other words we need to get a women's perspective in the interests of true objectivity? The problem being you guys have chased away most female members from these forums so we are only left with active male members
  4. Interesting post. I know you know this but within the Sunni dominated Western friendly countries in the ME like Qatar, Jordan, UAE and Saudi Arabia there are people who fund the likes of Al-Qaeda. But the governments of these countries are opposed to Islamic fundamentalism because they have been targeted themselves and these countries have helped the West in there fight against the more radical Islamic element. But if these countries were seriously threatened by an invading ISIS force I am confident the West would directly intervene. If not due to political alliances but in the interest of oil security which makes sense
  5. I would like to see women answer this question to get their view on this. Even better, ask this to women in real life Bruce and see what reaction and answers you get. Once you have this, you can tell us how you went from a women's perspective. I look forward to your report and results on this. We are talking about an RPG and how the sexes are portrayed and the dialogue lines they can use. This is not RL, I would think this would be obvious my friend
  6. Yeah its a great game, I played it for the first time about 18 months ago..plus it offers Romance
  7. But that's because both Isabella and Merill are idiots. Or maybe Isabella is a non-idiot (but not smart, either; I mean, just imagine the sorts of putrid ecosystems she's carrying around down there,) sadist who wants to encourage Merill's idiotic behavior in order to savor the terrible consequences. Agx I want to ask you and Calax something and be honest with your comments. Why is it when we have your archetypical male character who espouses all "male" characteristics like being overly sexually confident we don't feel the need to raise or discuss this but when a women character does the same we consider this lascivious and worth commenting on? Double standards? Are women not allowed to say things like "I want to bed every man who can help me with objectives in life" without us being concerned about these comments I don't consider either of you guys sexist as I've read your comments on SJ and equality issues and I think of you guys as liberal. So my point is more of a general one In summary I think unnecessary attention is given to Isabela's comments because she is a women making them and a male character acting the same way wouldn't get the same criticism
  8. Yeah I'm relatively impressed with some of the lady NPC that can join your party, they aren't an Isabela but there backgrounds and objectives look fun enough I'm playing through DA2 for the first time and Isabela... is kinda one note to me.... Everything is "Sex" or how important she is. And overall her 'long term' goal is kinda boring as well. Sure, she can be hilarious with Merill but other characters have more depth to them. Although they don't seem to have the depth that was put into the DA1 companion. Her liberated and sexualised personality was one of the many things I liked about her, also those pirate boots...yes those pirate boots There's a difference between liberated and sexualized person.... and "Basically only talks of sex for the whole game" But that's not true, she also spoke about her aspirations to get her own ship and return to the sea and she supported Merill . She also discussed what her objectives were. I am not nitpicking but there was more to Isabela to just sex talk
  9. I'll certainly be buying it. BioWare games have always given me my money's worth and then some. I think possibly this is because I try very hard to enjoy games on their own terms as the games themselves present them, instead of forcing them to stagger under the too vast orb of my own expectations or marketing hype. Well said, that summarizes why I am seldom, if ever, truly disappointed by any game. I look at games in there own context and also I ask a simple question " am I entertained by playing a certain game". If the answer is yes then the purchase was worth it. Of course if a game like BG3 is ever released then I would expect it to live up to its predecessors
  10. I can add two more people to your poll who vowed never to buy another Bioware game again, one is Majek. And the other one I won't mention because I don't want to hold him to his vow if he relents and decides he wants to purchase another Bioware game People should be like me, I never say never. I use words similar to "unlikely"
  11. Its good that you moved so swiftly to prevent said murder, what would happen later when kitty gets older and reflects on its life. Imagine the guilt Cats hunt - its what they do. They're obligate carnivores and as they can't produce etinol, taurine, and arachidonic acid IIRC and they have to get it from the flesh, organs and/or bones or prey. Or cat food. But while you can take the animal hunting out of the cat food, you can't take the animal hunting instinct out of the cat. But murder is murder, and what about the long term psychological consequences when Kitty realizes all the lives that he/she has ended? Just because Kitty is an animal this needs to be considered...don't you think?

  13. http://www.destructoid.com/review-valiant-hearts-the-great-war-277017.phtml Is it just me or does this game not look amazing? Watch the video as well on the link above
  14. Nonek I've said this before and I'll say it again, you really write well and make your posts both exciting and interesting. Its a rare talent What do you do for a living if you don't mind sharing?
  15. I find your shallowness sickening. Just because you do not find him attractive does not mean he should be unable to partake in romance. Perhaps he wouldn't be so forlorn if someone would just show him some basic kindness. Also, I think the ghost part is figurative. You funny, if I knew you were a proud promancer I would take you seriously and respond accordingly But Cole is some sort of spirit, see the link below http://news.softpedia.com/news/Dragon-Age-Inquisition-Gets-Details-About-Cole-the-Spirit-Screenshots-448038.shtml
  16. That may be a valid SJ campaign but the reality is Romance is also about aesthetics..and Cole fails miserably in that department. Also I don't think many people would relate to him since he is basically a spirit, see below "He is a ghost in the shadows, walking unnoticed through crowds. He can slit an enemy’s throat before they even realize he’s there, and slip away, never to be seen again. Those few who do notice him soon forget he ever existed… and Cole isn’t certain that he does exist," Bioware said about the new character.
  17. Yes I did read those links but 20 or so people discussing a possible Romance, and many people not supporting it, isn't a reason to suggest that BSN Romance discussions are about incest or that such discussions are numerous
  18. Its good that you moved so swiftly to prevent said murder, what would happen later when kitty gets older and reflects on its life. Imagine the guilt
  19. The reason he looks dead-ish is because he's some kind of Fade entity (probably) weirdly bound to the body of a dead mage. And he won't be romanceable in the slightest, because he basically has the mental outlook of a child and Gaider has explicitly said multiple times that a romance involving him would be foul and repellent. Just to dispel a little bit of the ridicule. given the numerous demands to romance your sibling in da2, am suspecting that the "outlook of a child" would not dissuade a significant % o' the bsn population from requesting that corpse-boy be romanceable. so, while you has managed to possibly dispel some o' the ridicule, we suspect that very shortly we is gonna be getting all new fodder worthy o' even greater contempt and derision... at least if history is telling us anything 'bout predicting bsn reactions regarding romance. HA! Good Fun! Numerous requests for incest, really Gromnir? Really..... Can you provide some links? A few people asking on BSN is not numerous Hyperbole has always been your strong point..its one of things I find entertaining about your posts

Just to dispel a little bit of the ridicule. Thanks Tajero, that is interesting After hearing that he has just been moved up in my list of potential party NPC Its probably a good thing he can't be Romanced because you know what they say .... "Necrophilia is dead boring "
  21. Yeah I'm relatively impressed with some of the lady NPC that can join your party, they aren't an Isabela but there backgrounds and objectives look fun enough
  22. You're still buying this aren't you Monte? Seems to be a big market for these games regardless of this content and a lot of people keep buying them. Case in point: Perhaps Obsidian should take some pointers from BioWare, by appealing to the mass market instead of a niche market with their next original IP. Of course Monte will be buying DA:I Haven't you realised its cool to bash Bioware games around anything you can then still buy there products when released Oh and I'm not sure if you are joking but the whole mass market target makes sense, that would be a Romance objective for the next PoE
  23. I thought it looked better when it was last posted a couple of days ago! (Last page) Nobody commented on it when I posted it /foreveralone EDIT: nobody other than Gromnir Yeah I hear you, its almost the same as nobody commenting if only Gromnir comments and it can be depressing
  24. ... The west does not understand the middle east. Never has, and all indications are it never will. I think the more salient points is does the middle east understand the middle east?
