  1. Yeah, but I see BS in what you're on about. Have you played Mass Effect 2? Whether a person likes the action-focus trend of many RPGs these days, ME2 deserves all the praise it gets. There are niggling issues here and there, but overall it reeks of pure quality. The same can be said for those other games ('cept maybe Oblivion, which I thought was over-hyped). I love Obsidian and I will keep supporting them as a company (I will preorder New Vegas, and likely their as-of-yet unannounced game), but I am dumbstruck by how delusional some people are being. Alpha Protocol has many faults and it deserves the reviews it is getting, especially when you compare it to the competition over the last several years (and I mean the more critical US reviews, Euro reviews don't seem to find as much). And yes, many big-name games (usually popular franchises) seem to get it easier at times. But don't try to pass off AP's deservedly lackluster ratings on some ridiculous conspiracy.
  2. The best bits are the conversations, characters and the chance to impact the story. Pretty much like Obisidian's (and their veteran Devs) track record. It's pretty great how many actions will be recorded and affect dialog (e.g. very rewarding when an important character is impressed with you for not taking lives, or never being seen) Graphics and animations look poor, but I did get used to it after a few missions. Anyone who tells you the graphics are fine, even without considering this is a 2010 game, is delusional. This is coming from someone who has replayed Baldur's Gate 2 and Fallout 1/2 countless time, even just last year, so I am no graphics snob. Like reviews say, gameplay is indeed mediocre at best. At times it was truly horrible, I have to say. Occasionally it has its moments, but I ended up rushing through levels towards the end of the game just to try get to the next 'RPGish' bit (i.e. talking to people about my actions and finding out how it will affect the story). Reminds me of action movies. In most of those films, the poor dialog and story just interrupt the great shoot-outs and explosions, except in AP's case it's the other way around.
  3. Needed more Sis. I dunno if it was only because of the choices I made, but I thought some characters didn't get enough 'screen'time.
  4. I like Obsidian, but it is impossible to deny how low-budget the game looks. If it wasn't for, say, some of the more modern shaders (or whatever causes things like motion blur), you could easily mistake it for a Playstation 2 game from the early 2000s. Might be an exaggeration, but either way the OP has a point.
  5. While I think Obsidian make some great games, you have to admit they have a reputation for releasing games in a buggy and/or incomplete state. E.g. Neverwinter Nights 2 (incl expansions) and KOTOR2 I'm assuming that they have more control over the development of this game (at least relative to when they are developing sequels to the games of other developers for example), and thus there may be less pressure to release the game ASAP or adhere to strict deadlines set by non-Obsidian management etc. It really depends on who pushed for the delay; I'm hoping Obsidian did, rather than SEGA, so they can actually release a bug free game this time
  6. More time for polish and to implement all planned content/ideas is good. No more KOTOR 2s please.
  7. This is great news to be honest. Obsidian games often have great story/ideas etc but are buggy as hell in some way, this gives them a lot more time to polish the game. I've read in a number of previews that the combat needed some work done for example. Also there might be unfinished content (like missions and dialogue branches) that need to be finished. I'd prefer for them to work on those rather than release another KOTOR 2 debacle.
