I wish the first writer could have kept thier job and finished the lost mom quest.

I got a full refund, so posting here did help. On top of that I learned a few things and got a different perspective on some of my own intolerance and bias. This was a post worth making.

In case you missed it... I have stated repeatadly that nothing in the game should be changed... but that marketing could have done a better job to inform consumers. None of the gay storylines were even hinted at in any marketing material. Everyone deserves books, movies and games that speak to them, I agree with you... but that should never be done in a secretive way. It felt like.. haha, we got your 6p dollars for this game.. now that you have started playing it and cant normally return it... lets start the real show.

I ended up getting the remainder of what I paid back, so I did end up with a full refund. I hope others have a better experiance than I did and enjoy this game with a bit more awareness than I had before I purchased it.

I misread that, my bad. I dont normally find pixels all that attractive to begin with so I generally go with whatever romance option adds the most in game advantage to my charcter.

Yes, I in fact do have gay friends as well as two gay siblings... and I cant list how many times I have heard ewww gross during straight kissing scenes in movies. No, I never play as a female avatar. The one game I tried with only a female option was Horizon Zero Dawn... and I couldnt get past playing as a girl in order to play the game.

If... at any point when marketing the game, they had showcased the lgbt inclusive questlines... I would not have purchased the game... and would have gotten some jellies elsewhere... You make it seem like I knowingly bought something with a complete awareness of an agenda beforehand just to complain about it... I dont know about you, but I dont have 60 dollars to throw away just to make a point.

Feeling mildly disgusted... as I am fairly sure an lgbt person is whenever they are forced to be part of a straight love story in one form or another.. isnt the same thing as being afraid of, threatened or intimidated by... It just isnt my thing. For me its about an equal level of revulsion of thinking about the fact your parents have a sex life and thats why you exist... there are some things you would just rather not have a mental image or awareness of. I do have a bit more empathy with the gay community after having to deal with my own mild revulsion with the mild revulsion or annoyance they have to live with every day.

Most of the time... you have a heads up on the bias or agenda being pushed. Not once in all the marketing material were gay themes brought up or showcased. Like I said, they shouldnt change a thing... other than to give a bit of a heads up so consumers can make an informed purchase.

I just want to say, how much I appreciate how everyone is being so polite and eloquent on a topic very personal to so many. Thank you all for being such adults.

I was actually semi ok with Pavartis orientation and storyline.. until Ellie doubled up on the lgbt stuff... then when you get told by the company guy that he had a special relationship with the original Capt that you replaced... it was basically three strikes and I was out. The company guy even had every stereotype going, even the lisp.

You know.... this is actually a really good point. I hadnt thought of it that way. If Pavartis was the only gay storyline... I dont think I would have read so much into all the other references. I was a ****ty friend to Pavarti.

As to not finishing the quest line for pavarti... you are left feeling like you were being a bad guy making a cruel choice... it wasnt even an indifferent option.

I dont want them to change anything, except to maybe give a bit of a heads up that the end product is pushing a particular agenda. I got the capitalist parody from the trailers and forums before I bought the game but I had seen no threads at all on the huge lgbt bias built in to the game. Now that the game has been out a few days, you can find whole web pages dedicated to celebrating the lgbt inclusivness.

I will stick to avoiding being involved. Let everyone be who they want, with whom they want but dont try to trick others into being involved. That was my peoblem with this game... it was more focused on pushing an agenda vs telling a good story. Thats fine, and I am sure many enjoyed it but it wasnt for me and I just wish the gay themes had been mentioned in any of the promotional materials. It wasnt because marketing knew it would cost sales.

If there were one gay companion, it would be reasonable and even acceptable to most people. There are quite a few, not subtle at all hints torward various npc and companions sexuality. If the Pavarti questline had any other positive conclusion you could choose that didnt lead to you doing a galaxy wide scavenger hunt to prepare her gay date... at least the option would be there so it wouldnt feel so forced. I have no problems with people being who they are. I do have a problem with agendas being pushed through media. I recently gave up cable entirely because of the overwhelming pandering done through so many shows now. Sure it saved me money, so no complaint there... You are absolutely right in that I am personally from the generation that looked at interracial marriage and said.. so what, its no big deal... leave them alone and let them be happy. I would gladly say the same thing for the lgb community if it didnt seem to be a constant surge of demanding attention seeking coming from all forms of media. I do my best to not pass on my bias, so hopefully they can be more accepting of this weirdness I just cant support... but while I am doing that... it would be wonderful if I was allowed to enjoy tv shows, games, even books recently.. without an lgbt agenda being pushed. Pushiness breeds intolerance... not acceptance. That is why I asked about a refund from the game creator and publisher and from Gamestop. Agendas should be clearly marked on the package, since you dont get to return games or movies once they are open. Let consumers make an informed decision on what exactly they are buying and see if your product still sells as well as you hope. I keep suggesting that lgb should be added to the esrb, just like other adult content is.

The game lets you choose your companions, but with such a limited companion roster it is awkward.

Im really surprised I wasnt flamed for this thread, at least so far. I did just return the game to gamestop and got half of my money back so thats something at least. I know everyone loves to see themselves in thier movies and games. I get it... but this game felt like a massive over correction from not enough representation to over representation almost to the point of parody.

A lot of the writing panders quite a bit. There doesnt seem to be any valuable reason for it but its shoehorned in pretty far into most plot lines.

I had been looking forward to this game for quite a while... but I feel lied to. In none of the promotional materials does it mention a strong bias toward promoting lgbt stuff. I am ok with a little here and there because that is life especially considering my biological mom IS a lesbian... but this was over the top. The Captain you replaced: strongly hinted to be gay. Your first and third companions: gay Your first companion's personal quest: entire gay lovestory quest line. Seriously, after new vegas I was expecting more from Obsidian. I loved Veronica and Arcade... but they didnt feel forced upon you. You could let them join you or not and still have a large pool of companions to choose from. I would take the game back to Gamestop but they wont refund it since its open. (Edited for typos)
