  1. Making becoming a Jedi brutally hard makes sense if you trying to keep their numbers low and save them as a special reward for the most hardcore and dedicated players. Unfortunately it also makes it hard to keep people paying subscriptions to a Star Wars game where everyone wants to be a Jedi and everyone believes they're special.
  2. What!? Having factions is a bad thing now? You can't keep them all happy, who you side with will affect the game, it's called roleplaying.
  3. Hm, they think they can beat WoW: http://www.videogaming247.com/2008/10/24/w...casarts-and-ea/
  4. A couple of million subscribers wouldn't be unreasonable for a quality SW MMO. That's $30 million a month, not a bad haul.
  5. Not sure about that, I don't remember threatening him, but I did get rid of him. Actually ME did a decent job of implementing Renegade at first, when it was just verbal choices, but later in the game it's pretty much either do what's sensible or kill someone for no particular reason. Thus at first I was getting nothing but renegade points, but by the end I was almost entirely paragon.
  6. That's not exactly what they said. They said the MMO is expected to have enough content to cover the next six games down the line. That looks to me more like a statement on the planned scope than a factual declaration of future plans for the franchise. I don't believe a KotOR 3 will be made, but they could squeeze it in if they wanted to. They clearly stated that instead of doing K3, they decided to do the MMO, because they could reach "a wider audience", translated as they think they can make bigger gobs of cash.
  7. Based on the setting information, I think that's exactly what they did. How can KOTOR III be made (assuming you're referring to the Revan going off into the unknown regions plot) now, after this MMO takes place 300 years after the events of KOTOR and states that Revan left and never returned? Just because Revan never returns, doesn't mean there's no story there. The problem is, they already said the MMO is a replacement for KOTOR 3, and can be played single player. I don't believe it'll work that way, so at some point they might reconsider.
  8. Whether they were fun isn't the point though. The point is you don't really need to pull a gun to tell someone to get lost, unless they don't take the hint in the first place.
  9. You're right, the Renegade was mostly a jerk, instead of a ruthless person acting for the greater good like I was hoping.
  10. Yes, ME story sucked, but what does it have to do with AP?
  11. Hey, that's not a correct summary of K2, Kreia wasn't the one who killed most of the Jedis, and the Exile just followed her plans, not interrupted them. At least it's good the MMO is set 300 yrs later and says nothing of Revan. That leaves room for the real single player KOTOR 3, there's still lots of interest in that one, and they can re-use the assets from the MMO to make it.
  12. Let us look at the pictures from the MMO and then consider these: Step forward my ass. Don't know what you mean:
  13. Higher res textures? How are the graphics a leap backward?
  14. Graphics look good, I don't know what you guys are complaining about. Very much a next-gen KOTOR feel, something photorealistic wouldn't work as well. Character models do look too cartoony, but hopefully that can be refined if there're enough complaints.
  15. You get reputation with various factions, which affects how they treat you and how certain quests play out, but I'm not aware of a personality meter. There are various approaches you can take, like suave, professional, or forceful.
  16. If they listed them together, everyone would know what it is, so they're listed separately, the same way they were announced. There's no doubt it's a KOTOR MMO, people laid off from LA said so, and even Riccitiello himself confirmed it already some time ago.
  17. With the exception of sniper rifles, nope. No iron sight at all. It simply zooms in towards the invisible cross hair. And you know what? Gearbox said in their forum that its a FEATURE! Geez. Sigh. Their reasoning does little persuasion in convincing me that its a flawed design. I finally tried the demo. Looks like it may be possible to play the game without digging in, and thus using iron sights only. One problem is, unless you're zoomed in, iron sights don't work like before, the crosshair is way to the left, so you can't really aim through the sights. Also zoomed in sights don't look realistic anymore, they don't drift at all, and recoil is very wimpy. Not sure about the sound, sounds much worse but I have a far inferior sound system connected to the 360, I just realized how much I need to upgrade. Also health is gone and checkpoints seem to be more frequent, other than that gameplay seems mostly in tact.
  18. That's total bs, hard difficulty should be available from the start. Can you confirm if iron sights can be used while in-cover?
  19. I think they want to spread them around so you don't use them up too quickly and then have to restart the level. Oh well, it's still a game, I suppose if people carry weapons, they should expect to get injured and thus would have first aid around.
  20. Awesome, it would make more sense to me to bring the healthpacks with you, but that's a minor point.
  21. Here's Riccitiello's current view of DRM: http://kotaku.com/5063443/ea-boss-nobody-c...totally-hate-it Claims 99.8% of players don't care.
  22. Soul searching in metaphorical sense. I know EA has no soul.
  23. I think EA is doing some serious soul searching on that issue, they got quite a lot of push back both on Mass Effect and Spore.
  24. Their main similarity is that each one can do whatever the hell he wants, there's no law for him.
