I have never really cared for the politics and cultures of races in games. I want to see untamed wilds and bizarre ecosystems. Give me old ruins and utamed jungles with strange, wonderful, and dangerous creatures. Towns and cities are the most boring parts of any game.
I find the cities and politics to be the best bits of RPGs. Guess you cannot make everyone happy.

Yeah, it is hard to judge, but it is certianly not a runaway success. It would be interersting saleswise to see what happens when each of the DLCs land (especially the last one). In this day and age with game libraries the steching into the sky, I think there will be a lot of people sitting on the sideline waiting for the complete/ultimate/whatever version of the game to go on a deep sale.

I have heard good things about Fantasy Grounds, but I haven't tried it myself.

We are now voting about its effect, and of course "Wild and Unpredictable" is currently in the lead with 49 percent because "LOL RANDOM" is catnip on the internet.

Just rewatched the last 10 minutes of the devstream. There is no indication that Vatnir is only a sidekick. In fact, they actually call him a companion. What they did say was that he would not have a companion *quest*.
So yeah, but all indications, Vatnir will be a full-blown companion minus a companion quest, but who cares that much about the last bit?
Could you possibly link the dev stream? I could not find it.
Sure, you can find the stream here.

New companion/sidekick, new items, new pieces of lore, new ending slides. So if they havent increased the level cap what other incentives are there for people to buy the expansion apart from more story?
Are the more spells, abilities ect ? new game features?
But apart from that, what has the DLC ever done for us?

Obsidian seems to be letting the community give their opinions on a single item (to be included in a later patch) via Twitter polls.
Greetings Watchers! Because we love you all, we want to work with you to create an item in #Deadfire. Over the next few days, we'll be putting up polls for various aspects of the item. The winner of each day will then go into the item in an upcoming patch! Stay tuned!
The first choice is already up and it is what the weapon type should be (Wand, Pollaxe, Morningstar or Hunting Bow). It ended up being a bow.
The second choice is up, and it is about its appearence (Engwithan, Animancer Technology, Huana Tribal and Undead). Animancer Technology ended up winning.
The third choice is up, and it's about its effect (Speed, Power, Hindering Foes, Wild and Unpredictable).

If you go to the tab with the DLC you can unlock the keep-up-to-date checkbox and choose the patch version you want.

For my own amusement I have begun making a manifest maker.
I know it is at the bottom rung of what the modding community needs, but it's quite relaxing and I am learnig a few new things about C# MVVM.

The Ixamitl Plains obviously - my Watcher would like to visit home.

Where in the world wouod you rather have them sell it on?
DriveThruRPG as they are a site whose primary purpose is to sell PDFs of Pen and Paper role-playing game?
They are my go-to place for RPG PDF's, and the same for my gaming group.

If it has to of those two options I'd definitely choose option two. I'd rather have any hypothetical PoE 3 be set mainly on a continent.
Furthermore, I feel Obsidian should entirely remove these mini-management systems. I feel they tend to be half-baked for the amount of work that has gone into them. I am fine with being an adventurer, I don't need to be a Lord, Captain, Guildmaster or any other organization head. If I need a management fix there are other games that do that far better.

Remember, this is the company that is so afraid of their product looking easy to pirate that they initially refused to distribute PDFs of their games (which, incidentally, meant piracy was the only was to get PDFs, almost certainly costing them sales), and after years of complaints only finally concluded that they would distribute their gamebooks over Steam.
Steam.
Wat.
Seriously? This is so stupid a choice that I am at a loss for words.

I found this thread on the games Steam community, perhaps it will help.

Bg2 sold 5 million copies.
Where do you have that number from? Do you know over what period it sold 5 million copies? Because, irrespective of BG2 qualities, it was released around 18 years ago, and there have been numerous rereleases of it since then.
Tyranny & Pillars should share the same world.PoE as an IP is owned by Obsidian, while Tyranny is owned by Paradox, so that is not going to happen (and honestly I would prefer for them to be seperate).

Hello everyone,
I have made this thread to get an overview of what kind of bespoke tools/applications people think would help the Deadfire modding community.
I have made a Google Document to keep track of all requests – please feel free to add more applications or edit it.
Here is what I have come up with at the top of my head - some of these are infeasible in practice, but I felt it was better to be exhaustive than to prematurely remove tools that might potential help the modding scene:
Conversation editor:
An application that can edit or create Deadfire conversation files.
Map Editor:
A tool, or toolchain, that makes it possible to create new maps for Deadfire.
Vendor editor:
An application that makes it easy to edit existing vendors or make new vendors.
Class editor:
An application that makes it easy to edit existing (sub)classes or make new ones.
Ability/Spell editor:
An application that makes it easy to edit existing spells and abilities, or make new ones.
Item editor:
An application that makes it easy to edit existing items, or make new ones.
Quest editor:
An application that makes it easy to edit existing quests, or to make new ones.
Manifest editor:
A simple tool to create and maintain the manifest.json file in mods.
What tools do you think would help the modding community?

I may have missed something, but I do not remember where the "Ship Merchant" part was mentioned, only the "Deck of Many Things" bit. Does anyone have a source where this is mentioned?

There is a mod that silences the narrator's audio (though it has only been tested up to version 1.1.0).

Didn't inXile use it for Torment: NumaNuma? I know that they licensed some of the tools Obsidian developed for Pillars, and I recall the dialogue editor being one, but I could be wrong.Maybe Obsidian should license their conversation toolset via Unity and make a little extra dough.
They did, along with much of the PoE engine.

Hmm, so is it possible to mod in trinkets yet?
// I have no idea whether it was already possible, but seems like a nice thing to have.
It is already possible.

But doesn’t Eder love animals more than most people (Even when they’re trying to kill him). If anything, him thinking you’re an animal is a compliment in a way.
No, it does not. Even if it is meant as a compliment it is still inherently belittling and dehumanizing (or, in the case of Eora, I guess dekithizing).

At this point we don't even know if there is going to be a Pillars of Eternity III.
The first of the three planned story DLC is scheduled to hit in late July, and the last one in November. Once that, AND the console versions are out, we may begin to read the tea leaves - but doing so now would be fruitless.
