Forza Motorsport also didn't sell very well, i think it's because the Xbox was dead at this point (X360 announced at E3).

  10. I dont see how this is a proof of anything. It's a fact The Movies bombed, Activision dont even want to publish the console versions anymore. Geist is also a failure (as a game and as a product). Rare is a really large studio, Kameo probably had more than 100 developers working on it at some point, it had massive delay (it was supposed to be a Gamecube soon-after-launch game), there's no way it's profitable.

  15. STALKER found a publisher because of this media blitz, it took them 15 months. Everyone talked about it because of the graphics, if they had waited mid-2006 (game release Q4-2006 or 2007) to release screenshots of an average looking game - compared to UT3 powered games, X360/PS3 games - from a relatively unknow east-european developer, who would care about it ? There are dozen east-european FPS in this case, i'm sure STALKER will sell more than them. Maybe Microsoft would have bought Interplay instead of Rareware if BIS had showed and marketted FO3/BG3 sooner, who knows ?
  16. Is there any game that suffered from bad sales because of an early announcement ? marketting people dont understand this industry. A weekly update about the game development and a few concept art every months cant do anything but help the game.

  18. 5-6 hours doesn't bother me if it's pure greatness like Beyond Good&Evil ... plus it's the only game my girlfriend played and finished. King Kong is short and not very good - exept the parts when you play as Kong (bad framerate in those sequences).

  21. An alliance with the most evil person in this industry (in 1996 EA was still a good publisher, now it's an evil empire thanks to this guy), that doesn't sound good to me. The doctors never cared about games, they were just lucky Interplay gave them the d&d licence and a lot of money to make BG when they just wanted a publisher for their mmo project.
  22. to put thing in perspective: Ragnar Tornquist - producer on Dreamfall - recently said the game will have to sell more than 500k units to be profitable. Funcom's dreamfall team is around 35 (norvegian) mans strong and the development began in 2003 (release date should be Q2 2006). I'm pretty sure JE is a sales disapointment given the marketting push they had from Microsoft. It's in the same situation as the Forza franchise: they had a bad timing for release but the press and gamers liked those games. Microsoft see them as part of Xbox identity and i'm 100% sure they will have a sequel. They know that if they sell more xbox360, they will sell more games, and to sell more consoles they need good exclusive games. ICO also sold 500k copies, most likely didn't make any money, but a sequel will be released this christmas.

  24. i'm already in love with this female jedi, congrats to the character designer ^_^. I really hope there isn't any fanservice in this game.
  25. i hope they tweak the gfx engine, that was the weak point of Kotor.
