Major Flaws in KOTOR
HalasterBlack replied to HalasterBlack's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Did anyone really think that skills weren't useful in KOTOR, cause I thought stuff like skills, charisma, and Force Persuade was pretty useful. But I have no way to support that seeing how I never used them. I just remember being caught in situations where skills, charisma, and Force Persuation would have benefited me. So did anyone really think that skills weren't useful in KOTOR? -
I kinda wonder if you, or anyone actually read my post. The fact that the path only diverged at the last planet you go to, and right before the last location kinda supports my "end of game" theory; theory in its scientific use, as in, proven hypothesis. The fact that there was only minor changes in cutscenes, dialogue, and small story (Bastila confrontion is Light) only goes to prove my statement, so I really don't know what your trying to say overall, am I right, am I wrong, you just have supporting evidence and opinions without any conclusion. But seeing how your only real evidence is pro towards my post, Ill just act like you liked and supported me. Exactly!!

Another one of the Major Flaws in KOTOR is the fact that your choices didn't really have any impact on the storyline. I kept hearing how my choices would alter the story line, but they didn't not for the first 90% of the game. I remember in the very beginning trying to get out of helping rescue Bastila but that bastard get whining about duty, and somehow I could not get my blade to connect to his skull. I remember the great anticapaction of being the leader of the Sith Academy, but to no avail. I really hadly never got any choice much at how the story went. Until the very end of the game, in which I choose evil, and dark powers, and for some reason I was forced to attack my comrades, which I didn't want to do. I didn't want to attack, but their supposedly "light-side" booties attacked me without provocation and I was forced to defend myself. Then when I got back to my other friends and teammates they run from me, and enrage Zaalibar into attacking me, what the heck. If you've played the original Jedi Knight, you realize that Jedi Knight had more choice between light and darkside storylines than KOTOR.

Major Flaws in KOTOR

Humm thats an odd reason to like a ranged weapon, but unconformity is always good so I'll accept it. In actual Star Wars lore the Bowcaster just propels huge lead exposives and Chewbacca's Bowcaster was upgraded to encase the shells with plasma, so only Chewbacca's Bowcaster would have any laser effects. Also interestingly the green color of the blasters are produced by the a standard imperial plasma gas. -
What was horrible about Swoop was how long it took to beat. If you couldn't beat it which I couldn't some times around, you didn't get like 14000 dollars which was a major advantage that could buy you things like the Strengh Belt that added to strengh and all saves.

What made the original (movie) trilogy great...

Yah Luke was a sissy, but nobody really watched the movies to see Luke, they watched them to see Darth Vader, Han Solo, Lando, and Chewie. -

I noticed this as well, everyone kept saying your light side, dark side choices would have impact, and frankly they didn't till the very end of the game, which by the way forced you to kill off all your best characters if you were dark side. -

Are you saying that you didn't use a lightsaber at all? I mean comon your not trying to pull one over on me, are you? You took out everyone in the game with a some dinky pistol or clumsy rifle, right? The most highly damaging ranged weapon I say in the entire game, if I remember correctly, was a disruptor rifle, got off a dead mercenary by Calo Nord on Water-Fish-Planet. It did, I think, 7-16 damage. My current character does 16-40 damage not to mention hitting twice since it's a double lightsaber. I frankly don't believe you when say "only using ranged weapons." At least make your lie a little more believable next time and say something like "the Jehanie Super Zapping Insti-Kill Cannon was AWESOME" -
Well seeing how alot of these character were killed by returning Dark Lord Revan. In fact only Candorus, Mission, and Carth survived. Mission and Carth were also stranded on a dangerous lost planet so since they suck I doubt they got away. This whole topic is suggesting that the main character went light. Which since in KOTOR 2 the Sith are in rule, probably won't be true.

Another I hated about the game, was how the lightsider always got repayed when they did a good deed. Two examples 1) First on Taris, that guy you gave 100 credits to cause he needed it to pay back someone. Yah, you found another 100 credits on the ground. Horrible. 2) On Jabba-Planet when you paid 500 credit cash for a Wraith-Plate, guess what, you got your 500 credits back. -

Multiple cities per planet
HalasterBlack replied to Darth Reven's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Not really, it would just maybe double the amount of area in the game, I really don't see where that matters at all. -
Your logic for Korriban is flawed seeing how Korriban was created in the comics and not by George Lucas at all.

Yah, the fact that Dark Side power couldn't do any damage, and you could throw your enemies like ragdolls with Force Wave, was a bit ---horrible. -
I think that yes alchemy and sorcery should be added to the game. I also think that sith weapons such as Sith Swords (treated by the force to be sharp and work against lightsabers), and those razor disk shooters that the Sith used telekinesis on to guide the razor disks to the target, and the Sith amulets(gloves) that turned dark side power into fiery explosive energy.

In the old Sith Empire, Teranteks were used to guard important Dark Side locations, like a Sith Lord's tomb. Actually they looked like large wolves (horse size), and I believe KOTOR got the wolf-like Korriban creatures and teranteks mixed up and those created both of them, because I remember incountering wolf-like creatures on Korriban which are supposed to be teranteks but they made teranteks be a totally different creature.

The best part of the quote is the fact that it is D&D. The original KOTOR was based on the Star Wars D&D rules and so will the KOTOR 2. Aren't flamers great?

Major Flaws in KOTOR
HalasterBlack replied to HalasterBlack's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Unfortunately you are wrong, dueling feats adding plus 1 to defense and plus 1 to attack to maximum of plus 3 to defense and plus 3 to attack. Which means that a dueler will fit about 5% more often but due half as much damage. -
If not for these problems that nothing to fix except time and testing, KOTOR would have been on my all-time best 10 list. 1) If you didn't play with either dual-bladed or dual-weapon approach you were significantly weaker. Dual players did twice as much damage and hit almost as much(about as 5% less often) as single weapons. This really screwed me over the 2nd time I replayed cause I did half as much damage and hit just as often, even with dueling feats. 2) Ranged weapons, unfortunely in KOTOR were next to useless. Everyone whos played KOTOR and been forced to use Carth knows how he misses half the time, and when he does hit does next to no damage. Dexterity should have added damage like strength did, and ranged weapons should be better than they were. 3) If you have played using dark side powers to the end of the game like I did, hoping you would get your Darth Vader on, you were sorely disappointed. It did not make any lick of sense that I a Dark Lord of the Sith at level 20 could not choke 95% of the population of the Star Forge cause they were *Immune*. GOD, I hated trying lighting those wimps into submission only to recieve the message *Immune* (by the way you just inflicted NO DAMAGE and WASTED your turn). Meanwhile my friend Travis, was busy inflicting double the normal amount of damage with Master Speed and triple the normal amount compining Master Speed with Master Flurry. However I was forced to suffer cause I was a Dark Side Jedi Consular with Single Blade and Dark Side Powers and close to no feats. Overall) please make an attempt to make all classes and profession chooses in the next game worthwhile and equal. P.S. I am now going through the game as a Jedi Guardian and already have twice as much health, inflict twice as much damage, and am having a jolly time
