I think it was one of the most fun fights I have had. Did it on PotD/Trial of Iron with 5 fighters, all with Int 3 (so basically no will defense) and there was a lot of micro managing (like running away everytime the dragon casts Cloak of Death). Probably took me about an hour to complete it, but I missed all of that "standing on symbols"-thing so probably could have done it faster if I had understood that

Agree that this is the most broken part of the Red Hand. In my experience though it works on all vessels, provided they are a lower level than the attacking char. I've killed all risen kinds, fampyrs, all rothgast etc. on PotD with lvl scaling, with my char lvl 18+.

My favourite custom party was five pretty aggressive characters named Grishnakh, Gorbag, Shagrat, Ugluk and Bolg (2 pure fighters, 1 barbarian, 1 fighter/rogue and 1 paladin). Everyone with Intellect 3 (although Grishnakh was dangerously clever with 5). They still managed to finish the game, including the expansion, at PotD/Trial of Iron but some boss fights took a looong time.

Apologies if this has been asked already, searched but could not find anything specific. What level (approx.) should I be before I attempt Beast of Winter? I tried with a pretty new party, all level 5, and the invitation quest didn't have any skulls on it so I figured it was about right. Got wiped in about 5 seconds in the first fight. Is there anything warning you if your party is way below the suggested level? I didn't see anything.

Very good guide! Made it to level 19 (Solo POTD) without ever engaging in a (character) fight. I did fight with the ship though. After that I probably could have made it to level 20 by visiting all the islands not included in quest and farming traps for XP or something, but it got quite hard to find any experience so I quit. Was quite enjoyable actually. Thanx for the tips!
