The D&D look is at least somwhat part of the intent. Maybe a too desperate attempt to attract the attention of gamers? I know many gamers (P&P or CRPG) who don't want nothing to do with reading comics. Even comics that is exactly the kind of comics they would enjoy. You practically have to twist their arm to get them to pick up a comic and give it a try. And even if they end up loving it, you still need to twist their arm to try another one. This is in part my way to try to "twist their arms" into at least taking a look at the damned book. But it does not mean that it actually works or is even a good idea. Which is why in part why we are here. Thanks for the feedback and encouragement. It is greatly appreciated.

Wow. You deserve special commendation merely for your attitude if nothing else (though cover B is extremely worthy of applause as well ). It's almost like you're the complete antithesis of Weiser Cain. Your very competent demonstation of vestige proportionality further cements your polar opposite status to the infamous Weiser Cain. Way to go, Zhen! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks... I think.... although I have no idea who Weiser Cain is. Once more thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. Did not post the back cover since what I am most concerned at this point is knowing what the reaction to seing the cover on the stand might be. But every little bit of feedback helps.

No need to excuse yourself. I am not looking to stroke my ego. I am looking for an honest opinion. Thank you for taking the time to help me out.

Zhen needs your help dear folks. I am about to publish my very own very first fantasy comic book, and would need your feedback concerning two possible versions for the cover of book one. 1) Which cover would attract your attention the most. If you can, explain why?? In other words, which one would make you go "Woah!!" like your friend Neo the most. 2) Which one do you prefer? And again, why? 3) Which one would do the better job in convincing you to grab the book off the shelves and buy it? And of course, Why? Thank you greatly for your help. Cover A) or cover B) Once more, thank you.

IWD is great. But seriously, I love all the IE games. IWD 1 & 2, BG 1 and 2, PS;T, But there are those who don't like them. Or who love BG but hate IWD. If you decide to try them, I would suggest in this order. IWD, BG, BG2, IWD2 and PS;T. Why?? Because once you have played BG with all the different kits, it is hard to go back to IWD. I have seen many hate IWD because it did not have kits and other features like BG2. And why PS;T for last??? Because it has the best story and the best spell effects of them all despite having older graphics. I remember being dissapointed when I played ToB because I felt that it was three steps back compared to PS;T. Of course what I did not know at the time is that it was realeased even before BG2. But that is just my opinion.

Short List of Good Story-Driven RPGs?
Zhen Dil Oloth replied to Plano Skywalker's topic in Computer and Console
I have a 15' monitor as well. I wish I could have a bigger screen, but I have a laptop. So no 19' screen for me until I get desktop. When I first started BG, I could not manage my party very well. I was a complete newbie and did not know about scripts and AI. Heck I did not even pause at first. I was playing 6 characters in real time. No need to say that my characters were dying a lot. After a billion trips to the temple to raise them, and once my party was broke from spending all that money raising my party members, I decide to let them rot. So before long I ended up playing BG with my main character only. Eventually, I stopped playing solo and started using the pause function and the AI/scripts for my party members other then my main character. By now, I can play a full party in any IE game in real time. But it took a lot of playing time and practice. Don't give up. It is worth it. BG is the biggest/longest saga I know of when it comes to CRPGs. And it is a great experience. Don't miss out on it just because it is difficult at first to manage a full party. You will get used to it in time. Arcanum is a good game.... once you know how to bypass the bugs. Hope you like it. -

Short List of Good Story-Driven RPGs?

BLASPHEMY!!!! (w00t) (w00t) But seriously, if you don't want to micromanage your party, you can use the AI to control your party members other then your main character. Or you can play the game solo, meaning you do not accept new party members. You only play witgh your main character. Otherwise, you can just forget about playing any party based game then. So no PS;T, BG, BG2, IWD, IWD2, Arcanum, ToEE, DS. Prince of Qin for you. You are pretty much left with single character games. Fallout 1 and 2, NWN, Morrowind. No I won't mention Diablo 2... oups. " Although you do gather a party in Fallout 1 and 2 and NWN also. But you do not control any other character then your main. But you have at the very least to manage their invetories. So depending on how much management you want/don't want to do, even those games may not be for you. -
Short List of Good Story-Driven RPGs?
Zhen Dil Oloth replied to Plano Skywalker's topic in Computer and Console
Damn!! I had forgotten to mention that Diablo 2 had the best cinematics of it's time. Although compared with what was done in later game, it probably would not seem very impressive to a new Diablo 2 player. Agrees. Lionheart and ToEE had lots of potential, but were nowhere close to fullfilling it. But then had their good mements despite that. Heck! some are throwing rocks at me for daring to mention Diablo 2 or IWD, but no one tried to crucify me yet for mentioning PoR2. Strange. -

Absolutely. Come on. At the time, I think we were the only to beings alive who like the game. Okay maybe the only 2 guys on the Interplay boards. Damn you!! Damn you for reminding me how much I miss the IPlay boards. Do you remember the "Bio-banned of brothers"??? Ouch!!! Will have to get info on the Mods then. Hopefully there are some good ones. Weel being in your presence is very humbling. Why do you think I rarely come here now?? Soome of the IE Mods aren't that bad. Did not even know that there were mods with Morrowind. Glad to see you Vol. It hass been too long. -

The first half of Lionheart is pretty much story/dialogue driven, but the second half is not I'll grant you that. But some people liked it despite that. -

Zhen Dil Oloth replied to Plano Skywalker's topic in Computer and Console
The poster ask for story-driven CRPG's and you suggest games like IWD, Diablo, and ToEE? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some people like the IWD story, some don't. While actually playing Diablo 2, yes you do not encounter much of the story, but the cinematic and the background info in the manual do fill you in on the story. And at some point in time, when Plano has played BG more times then he can count, he will surely look for more games to replace them just as he is looking now to replace his RL gaming habit (I know I did). At least he will know of these games. -
What bugs were those???

Short List of Good Story-Driven RPGs?
Zhen Dil Oloth replied to Plano Skywalker's topic in Computer and Console
Fallout 1 and 2 and Planescape; Torment are exellent choices. Baldur's Gate and Baldur's gate 2 and their expansion is also a great choice. It will give you the opportunity to spend 200+ hours playing/developping your character and your party. A feat unequalled to this day by any game (that I know of of course). Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale 2 are good choices too. Although they do not make a huge saga like BG. You play a new party in IWD2. Although you meet many characters from IWD. Arcanum gives you a vast world to explore. And the story and dialogues and freedom to explore are the best part of the game. Although there is quite a few bugs, and the game balance is fishy. But if you can ignore that, you should enjoy exploring the world of Arcanum. Temple of Elemental Evil is a good choice if you want to enjoy a lot of tactical options of D&D combat. Although there are many bugs in this game, and the developpers could have made a much better job at developping the story. Neverwinter Nights is an ok choice. Although I did not try it with it's 2 expasions, so maybe it is much better now. But at the time, I was not a big fan of NWN. Got bored with it very quickly. And the game take about 20hrs to finish. A good example of instant levelling. You gain 1 level every hour. If you like gaining levels fast, this would be your game. Although by now there must be thousands of fan made mods out there. So you could play many of these and have potebtially hundreds of hours of gaming at your fingertips. Although many of those mods are pure crappolla at best. And if you really must, you could try Pool of Radiance 2. There are many bugs, but you can still enjoy it with some of the fan-made patches that were made. Just ask online what the major bugs are and how to bypass them and you will be fine. And I guess I will commit the ultimate sin and suggest Diablo 2 and it's expansion. A fun and addictive game that most companies have been trying to clone for years with little success. NWN must be the most successfull of all the Diablo clones out there. And why not suggest Dungeon Siege. Many did not like it for various reasons. Some said it was too linear. Others complain that all your characters must be "Paladins" (warrior/healers) to survive. But it is a fun game if you like to gather a party, and, dare I say it, the only game with pack mules. Can you believe it?? That alone makes it worth it. (w00t) But seriously, it has a great atmosphere, and the winter scenes are gorgeous. And it has a no loading feature taht makes it difficult to go back to games where there is a loading time between each areas. And it is even better in multiplayer, either Lan play or over the net. And there arfe a few others like; Prince of Qin. Not bad. You can gather a party and the story is not bad. Although the names get confusing after a while. When you are asked to go to Shinzoon. After a while you see many similar names (Shanzoon, Shinzone, Sinzoon) and it gets pretty confusing. Divine Divinity. Lionheart. Nox. All I can think of at this time. -
IWD is great game. Although many played it after playing BG2. And they kept on complaining about all the things it did not have compared to BG2 (ex; no kits). I was lucky enough to play it right after BG and before BG2 and was able to enjoy this game greatly. Also it has the best music this side of the multiverse. My kingdom for a new game just half as good as IWD. Oh well.

The legal status of the old Black Isle games?
Zhen Dil Oloth replied to Yst's topic in Computer and Console
I lost my IWD expasion disk (HoW), and I played bg so much, my play disk died on me. So making a back-up copy of at least the play disk usually is a good idea. And now that some games are discontinued, it would be a good idea to back them up in case they get lost since buying a new version will not be possible at some point. -
What era do most of your favorite titles come from
Zhen Dil Oloth replied to Zach Morris's topic in Computer and Console
The IE era (Fallout, BG, IWD, PS;T). Guess I will have to wait 15 years for a new era that can match this one. Me sad. -
