  1. I think my expectations for Kickstarter a year ago may have been somewhat replaced, because I didn't fully realize that in order to get fans to contribute to something, you need to gain their interest level and the best way to do that it seems is to go "Remember that awesome game experience you once had?  We want to do something just like that" as opposed to "I know you want us to create an experience you feel familiar with, but we have some interesting ideas we'd like to try!"

Well, we're in the beginning of the crowd-funding revolution. These are the first steps. People are more cautious and prefer to spend money on things they feel more certain about. I think that once we're used to the idea of crowd-funding, more adventurous projects will be funded.

Trust currently is a huge barrier. This project intrigues me (I never got in to the old JA games even though I probably would love them if I did), but I don't have enough trust in this developer to pledge just yet. I hope they get funded so I can buy the game once it's out and they've got positive reviews by people I trust more.

  2. That dungeon was sweet. I actually never ebat the end fight. I was playing on hardest difficulty and hadn't really geared my party properly (wasn't quite ready for the end). Couldn't beat it. And I've lost my save file so I'd have to replay the whole thing over again, and I'm kinda tired of the NWN2 engine by now.

But I always though SoZ was very underappreciated, it was a nice expansion (though of course pales in comparison to MotB).

  3. Have they removed the account unlock then? Because I know those are still being sold on the GTN for fairly absurd prices. But they could just be leftovers from earlier.

But I will add that getting equipment unlocks is a bit of a waste unless you're going to take part in end game content. And if you can put artifact mods in orange gear and be able to equip that w/o the unlock, it's even more so.

  4. Oh, I agree there. Scoundrel and Operative dps is very clunky. And in end games has been slightly to weak, especially considering their positional requirements.

Things will be better in the expansion, at least where damage numbers are concerned. Not sure about the clunkiness, think that's still there to a degree.

  5. Humanoid, Operative and Scoundrel are not ranged classes in any stretch of the imagination. They're stealth melee classes. They have a couple of abilities with 30m range that they share with Snipers, but 90% of their attacks will have a range of 10 meters or less. For lethality (or dirty fighting) spec I suppose you have a few more attacks at range, but your main attacks are still 10 or 4 meters, which is melee.

As for sniper's being cover based, I don't know. It's true that they have to utilize cover to fire off their main attacks, but cover is just crouching since they have mobile cover. In other words, it's a mechanic designed to make them a more stationary class, not a way to mimic cover based shooting from other games.

  6. My ranking on story would be

    Imperial Agent

Jedi Knight (for it's epicness alone)

Bounty Hunter = Smuggler = Trooper (but I hear it's worse if you have actual military knowledge or experience)

    Sith Warrior

Sith Inquisitor (there's a story twist that makes this one a bit fun, would rank below sage otherwise)

    Jedi Consular

Imperial Agent and Jedi Knight I was really engaged in, and JK starts slowly, but gets more fun after chapter 1. The second tier (Smuggler, BH, Trooper) were ok, but nothing special. The other three I found to be pretty bad, and Consular was super boring (I did play that one last though, so I could have been a little worn, but I played JK second to last and liked that one fine).

  7. I remember getting a tutorial text on that somewhere, but can't remember what it siad other than subdue when it goes out of control. Think it's related to the troops in your army (as in, a demonic weapon won't like it if you're running around with a bunch of elves).
