I've just about finished my first run of PoE2. I want to make another run with either a Bleak Walker/Ranger or BW/Chanter. The problem is, I want my PoE1 character to be the same. I know I can add fighter and barbarian feats without a problem and they can be used just like normal, but what about for those with class resources. Needless to say I plan on using the console and IEMod. The best I can think of is to make a BW, change to Ranger and hope that the game still recognizes my character as a BW, then add back Pali abilities. Ditto for Chanter. I also have Eternity Keeper, the save game editor.

Citzal's Enchanted Armoury seems to, by design, unequip all gear. Considering how nice my gear is, this renders the spell pretty useless, but that isn't what this post is about. If you have an item that adds a weapon or item slot, and you have something in that slot, whatever was there is removed and not put back when the the spell expires. If you had a weapon, for instance, in the fourth slot, then that weapon is put into your stash.

The way I look at it the base defense is a counter to base offense. So its more of a level check. You could accomplish the exact same thing by adding 3*(defendersLevel - attackersLevel). For what its worth, I'd rather see a crit/hit/graze > hit/graze/miss or hit/graze/miss > crit/hit/graze (depending on who's level is higher it either upgrades or downgrades).

Yes. It is indeed caused by Reaping Knives. I don't know if it is reproducible, but I can tell you the order of events that caused it for me. 1) Cast RK on the caster (Not possible without a mod) 2) The result is that instead of focus being added, it is reset. 2a) So if an attack does 40 damage, then focus is set to 40. 2b) If another attack does 30 damage, then instead of having 70 focus, you have 30. 2c) This lasts even after restarting the game, and changing locations 3) To fix it, simply cast the spell on someone other than the caster (normal usage).

This is probably related to having cast Reaper Knives on myself (bad player; bad!), however it could also be related to casting it in general. Since casting it (for the first time in the Nemnok fight) Soul Whip has been setting focus to the damage dealt instead of adding that to my focus total. At first I figured it would resolve itself after combat had ended, but this is not the case. As an interesting side effect, Soul Blade doesn't remove focus anymore, so I can spam it for ever increasing focus and damage. Not that this behavior (any of it) is desired, but it is interesting. On a side note, casting Reaping Knives on an ally seems to have fixed the problem.

I saw a post on the Steam forums and was going to reply there, but decided that it would be better to put it here. Its complaining about the RP feel, or lack there of, with the changes. I have mixed feelings on this. First off, I agree that the changes feel. . .bad. However as has been mentioned, a change was needed. Did they go too far, sure. To elaborate on "bad" it feels artificial, and like I'm not a wizard. Wizardry, versus sorcery, is about learning, and scholarly stuff. It feels like this has been greatly diminished. I think a better solution would have been to give Wizards fixed number of per rest spells (like in PoE1) and THEN give them a grimoire which holds its own magic providing per encounter spells (1 per encounter, per level, per book). You can learn spells from grimoires, which you can cast per rest, but if you want to cast more spells you need to have a grimoire, and you need to swap them. This way you aren't just selling unique grimoires after learning the spells. Furthermore, make it so that grimoires are immutable. Once they've been written too, that's it. Make blank grimoires rare (like one in the game that doesn't have any limitations). edit: To elaborate on why a change was needed you can read through the linked thread . . .or i can tell you. Pretty much Grimoires, a class feature of the Wizard, were lack luster as the result of simply learning new spells and then adding them to your grimoire. Grimoire swapping wasn't a thing. I'm not sure its a thing now either, but it certainly wasn't then. And the unique grimoires, as items, weren't kept. They were sold. Which makes sense since the important part of any book for a wizard is the knowledge in them, but the devs thought differently.

Then why is everyone acting as if it never existed before? The reason you feel that way is because of how everyone is acting. But yeah, presumably its so the gods could make a meal of mortals. This does not make sense. If this were the case, then there wouldn't have been anyone to make the wheel. ------------------------------------------------------ Someone has mentioned a post by Sawer. What post?

The problem is that this fact is completely ignored. Had the gods brushed it off or acted enigmatic, that's one thing, but for EVERY to act like there was never a time before the Engwithen's Wheel is ridiculous. it is a question only lead to more question why build the new wheel is the old one broke what is the difference other than make adra pillar outside of deadfire stop glowing if the old one broken then how engwithan experiments? the third meeting already have too much exposition shorter one that doesn't answer all the players question are the right direction those meeting are better when player are basicly audience There is a difference between "not answering all questions" and "gaping hole". This is a gaping hole. And as I said, the problem is that its completely ignored. Had the watcher been able to say "well, life existed before the Engwithen's wheel" and then Woedica said "you speak of think you can't understand" I'd be happy. No further exposition.

Edér: What happened?
nstgc replied to Galagraphia's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
This is more of a reply to the OP than anything that came after it. I feel the same way about Aloth. He was my favorite character in PoE1, but in 2 he seemed empty. -
As the end is drawing closer, the number of misgivings I have increases rapidly. The image below really pisses me off. My watcher is pretty smart. Right now she has an INT of 21. I'm pretty sure she would have asked the important question: "What happened BEFORE the Engwithen created the wheel?" Seriously. This is absolutely ridiculous. Life can't just create something that is required for their to have already been life unless that thing already existed! Throughout the entire conversation they completely ignore the fact that life went on without the Engwithen's wheel. There isn't even the option to bring it up.

Who did you go with? I know I'm locked out of the RDC line, and I'm pretty sure I'm locked out of the VTC line. I heard that Maia leaves if you go full Native, and Pallegina (my favorite character in PoE1, and second favorite, after Maia in 2) hates pirates. edit: I'm thinking of save scumming and just saying that my sciency pacifist either decided to go along with the VTC despite Maia telling me not to, or suck it up and come to terms with short term pain for long term gain.

To start with, I have NO problem at all that I must choose one faction to the exclusion of all others. I'm fine with that. Considering how their interests are opposed to one another it only makes sense. It doesn't make sense that with dooms day on the horizon, they will be at each others throats, but that is a different issue that I can write off as "its a game." My complaint is mostly about the Royal Deadfire Company and Maia. I'm playing a Living Lands scientist, who is diplomatic and benevolent. My first thought was Valian Trading Company. But Maia, whom I romanced, isn't happy with that. My next through it to go to the RDC because they, like VTC (if you keep the director), seem to have a long term plan that helps out a lot of people as opposed the Pincipi who want loot, and Huana who seem to just want a power base (for the good of her people, sure, but I can't say that's a very good long-term solution to some larger problems). However, when I'm asked to assassinate the Queen while they bombard an entire civilian section of the city, I'm like "WHATTHE****?!NO!!". At this point they, very reasonably, try to silence me. This is where I start having a major complaint. In the VTC board meeting, Maia spoke up and out about whats going on. In the RDC quest giving dialog, however she is completely silent. She is in my party, and when the kill order goes out, she doesn't speak up on my behalf, nor does she turn her gun on me. SHE COMPLETELY IGNORES WHAT GOING ON. This, I have a problem with. Then, as I'm standing in a pool of her comrade's blood, I go to talk to her, and she acts like NOTHING HAPPENED. This is the second issue. There is a third, lesser complaint. I would have wanted to talk to Kana. I realized that RDC was making militaristic moves into the Deadfire, and this is somewhat unsettling, but I was reassured that Kana was part of that. He seems pretty level headed, and not the "kill them all; write the history books to suit us" type. However when I went to look for him in Crookspore (or whatever) he was nowhere to be found. If I had a chance to talk to him about what is going on and stuff, that would have gone a LONG way to reassuring (and my character) that the RDC was the good guys.

Bug or feature: Fleshmender giving negative armor.
nstgc replied to nstgc's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
Yes. Once every 12 seconds. Well, I can't reproduce this problem so its a non-issue.
