  1. After few tests I don't think that this challenge is possible without chanter class (only if you want simple complete game without clearing all tough fights). I tested Troubadour/Devoted and can complete near all (High Level) fights without problems

Chanters solve summon/healing/penetration problems and has unlimited resources

The biggest problem is long fights like Ukaizo where bosses have high Armor/Life, with low deflection

Druid + Fighter/Paladin is also good, but you don't have enough penetration and invise/withdraw spells

Skaen + Fighter can done a lot of fights, but don't have enough healing for long bosses fights

Shifter + Monk can't handle boarding fights with a lot of ranger enemies

yeah this is what i was afraid of, the AR vs Pen screw u over in this game

  2. I wonder if a combination of Monk (Helwalker) + Priest of Wael could work for this challenge.

Monk for the improving your fists damage (Transcendent Suffering) and the all the other monk goodies including the huge might bonus from Helwalker while the priest could supply all the defensive/buffing side.

race could be Nature Godlike but the attributes are difficult to distribute :).

Problem is that u will go down very fast with this combo, especially as a helwalker. U'd have to rely on Barring Deaths door + Salvation of time to keep u alive. It could work but it will be very difficult before lvl 16.

  3. I understand the doubt guys, i do and that is exactly why i wanted to make this character. Its not an obvious multiclass choice and i wanted to test it and from the brief testing i did i really enjoyed it. Once i am finished with her i will post a better OP and i will show some gameplay.

Priest and Cipher spells work together very well btw, Psychovampiric shield is a quick spell and it debuffs enemy will by 20, makes it easier to land and possibly crit with Borrowed instincts, borrowed instincts amazing acc buff will help my priest spells and hit harder. After borrowed instincts and if im fighting a grp i will use Secret Horrors followed by Shining Beacon, Shining beacon will hit them hard on their already debuffed will and with my buffed up ACC and it will also further debuff their defenses by -10 wich stacks with any other debuff ive tried so far. Divine marks for example also target will, this spell crits really hard on single targets, ive had it hit for 146dmg and as a bonus this spell also debuffs deflection lol. So as i am nuking and hurting i am also debuffing them into oblivion. Wich is so much fun!!

  4. The only problem I have with this character so far on my solo playthrough is her lack of healing, wich is funny because priests are generally considered to be healers O_o

Concecrated grounds heals for basically as much as the paladins aura, sad **** because one is a passive and the other requires a spent resource, casting time and recovery time >_<

  5. <p>

Lifegiver is good, either on its own or multiclassed. Unless you use lots of Druid summons, it plays pretty much like an animist with stronger heals. Druids get some really good heals, so Lifegiver's benefit is nice.

Some thoughts on multiclass synergy, if you go that route:

    • Barbarian: Frenzy is good for any caster. Lots of good passives.
    • Chanter: Always good. Summons from multiple classes are incompatible anyway, so your subclass choice becomes painless.
    • Cipher: This is fine, and IIRC the couple of physical attack spells a druid gets generate focus. Not sure it beats top-level spells.
    • Fighter: You can shift and murder everything with fighter powers with the best of them, but constant recovery may be a touch wasted on you.
    • Paladin: Basically always good for the defenses and FoD and passives. Note that, if you go Bleak Walker, you can grab the Corrode and Burn passives for even better penetration, something only multiclassed paladin/casters can do.
    • Priest: Skip it unless you have something fancy in mind. A universalist is better off going fury or animist. You don't need more support power.
    • Ranger: Pass. You've got your own DoTs to worry about.
    • Rogue: Good for similar reasons to fighter. Avoid redundancies in your affliction package and you'll be fine. Trickster is the best way to grab wizard defensive buffs, if you want them.
    • Wizard: I'd avoid it. A single-classed lifegiver will do pretty much everything that a sorcerer can do, except better.

I wouldn't necessarily say that wizard would be a bad choice even as a support/healing multi. Tho u prolly know me by now and that I always try to see the benefits even if they are small :p

Question is, does draining wall increase spiritshift duration? :p

Also a wizard can very rapidly buff mig, int and action speed :)

  6.

Rogue can only pick dirty fighting and the uncanny luck. Wich is 10% and 5%. Berserker get 30% from frenzy alone.

Alright. So, of Brute and Swashbuckler, which one would you pick?
I'm a big fan of rogues especially combined with a fighter so I would pick rogue :)

Great dmg, persistent distraction, Riposte, Toxic Strike, massive dmg modifiers. What's not to love?

If I was planning to use a certain weapon for its on crit effect such as Last Word for example I would pick Berserker

  7. Yeah but you had to cast two salvation of time spells. This would take alot of time wouldnt it?

What is the cast time and recovery for salvation of time?

It is very quick, don't remember exactly but I think I had around 0.3sec cast and around 2sec recovery with my stats, and I wasn't even on captains banquett at that time. But you don't have to use both salvations right away, u can keep one for a second Ascension and by that point u will have even more action speed (if anything is even still alive)

Scordios Trophy is amazing for ascendants for this, let's u save a lot of time, with each shot u gain stacking action speed and once u reach ascended u can start casting right away because pistol don't have recovery

  8. It's affected by int and it works with salvation of time, on lvl 16 with a lot of empty gear slots (including neckslot) I reached 53sec ascension and ~56sec arcane veil by using two salvation of time. (At lvl 16 I had to use an empower to get the second). It's good stuff :)

Before u Ascend and use SoT, drink a potion of Repulsive Visage :D

Having Terrify pulsing for a long time while spamming mindlances at the terrified enemies is a very satisfying feeling!

  9. First of all, this post will be heavily edited as i play this guy further, but he has been tested at higher lvls using console to lvl 16 to test if the concept would work, and it did. As of right now the character is lvl 13 and is a blast to play.

I am currently at work, bored to death, wich is why i thought id start this post and i could edit it later when i get home, but because of this i cannot at this time be 100% accurate on my attributes or spells picked per lvl but i will edit that in when this character is all done.

Class: Mystic - Ascendant/Priest of Wael

Race: Wood Elf (not important tho)

    Attribute dist. priority:

    Mig: Medium

    Con: Low'ish

    Dex: Medium

    Per: High

    Int: High

    Res: Dump

Skills: As of right now not important, that might change later but its doubtful.

    Key gear pieces:

Weapon slot 1: Scordios Trophy + Nerian's Ward (Vs singletargets)

Weapon slot2: Whisper of the Endless Paths (vs groups)

    Head: Whitewitch Mask

Chest: Fleshmender + 1 weaponslot (The Regen HP regen is much needed)

Gloves: Using 10% hit to graze gloves atm, cant find them on Wiki, later i might switch them out for something else.

    Neck: Charm of Bones

    Cloak: Cloak of Greater deflection

Rings: Marksman's Ring and Ring of Greater Regeneration

    Belt: Trollhide belt

    Boots: Ahu Taka https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Footprints_of_Ahu_Taka

    Pet: Abraham

Food: Captain's banquett, Mohara Wraps, Glazed Chops or Brew Battered Ysae

How do we play this? First, before we pull we place a spell trap on the ground in front of us, the burn+blind is solid (searing seal), then we wait so we get our resource back. Pull with borrowed instinct, before u get borrowed instinct pull with the pistol so we get two rapid shots asap. Activate shield modal if enemies have good acc, cast Litany for Spirit (Accute, +5 int +1 PL) and then Arcane Veil, keep shooting until Ascended. When we Ascend we cast another arcane veil incase it ran out, then hit urself with Salvation of Time x2, enjoy ~1min of Ascended with massive deflection and hit to graze conversion pluss very high action/recovery speed from Scordios + Captains banquett. If u want to use potions or buff scrolls, use them right before u ascend. psychovampric shield + secret horrors + shining beacon - Mind Lance spamming is an amazing combo!
Keep pistol modal on at all times, we have enough ACC so we dont have to worry about, and we rather have the speed to build up action speed for spell casting rather then pistol shot crits.

This character is very defensive while also being very offensive, its a great mix =)

While i play this character i will record some fights and make a video to show how i play her.

I will edit this quite a lot during the next couple of days :)

  10. Something is going wrong here...

After having a really easy early-game with the Devoted/Trickster things are going out of hand after he reached level 13 picking up Unbending.

Can it really be that this skill gets stack over stack making the char (nearly) unkillable as long as you take care of magic dampener or heavy healing reduction?

Most of the time i can just run into the middle of the pack with unbending + disciplined strikes spamming crippling strike and death blow or just watch how the enemies get punched down with one crit after another while my character always stays at full health? Even if i run out of resources or healing reduction ticks in: Jump and Smoke Veil always keeps me save. Reset and strike again.

Maybe i should switch my rules to Single-Class only. Or wait until Obsidian has released all of their own bonus challenges.

Yes unbending doesn't work as the tooltip would make u believe, it does indeed add stack over stack or how to put it. The only things that can stop a character with Unbending is Arcane dampened and constitution afflictions. Also certain bosses that don't come with many weak adds to proc more unbending.

BTW I only finished port maje on my naked guy, I'm little burned out on the game right now and mostly playing Fallout for a while :)

Also the thought of all that ship combat discouraged me, I really really don't like the shipcombat due to its heavy RNG system.
