  1. After giving up on this build in an earlier playthrough (I was having trouble keeping the character alive), I tried again in a very tanky group, and this guy is now rocking. It's utterly amazing how many guys this guy is CC with the two mortars and their huge AoE radius. As a plus, he's also the top DPS. I think some form of a mortal AoE character will always form a part of my future playthroughs.

Yeah the game was much easier when I played him. Whiteleaf were very strong then

  2. Oh, wait; this build seems to require no - or little - Wound expenditure? So I don't necessarily have to pick Helwalker?

You want to keep your wounds for the +10int. This build should be less good now then when I played it, atleast on solo after the nerf on whiteleaf. Bosses and multiple ranged enemies would be a problem. Also Stunning Blow can no longer regen more mortification then u spent on the attack. The concept still work tho ofc but I wouldn't play him solo any longer

  3. Now now settle down folks. Brilliance is a very OP buff considering that the only other way to regen resources is to spend empower points. Nerfing brilliance because of BDD, salvation and Ascended is wrong tho, also nerfing BDD because of brilliance is equally wrong. Make brilliance regen only PL1 and PL2 abilities? Not that I really care but I'd honestly be suprised if devs don't nerf an immortality combo while they do things like nerfing every proc in the game down into lottery RNG lvls. It's just a question of how severe it will be and what they will target.

  4. So, thoughts on the belt and swapping out the Cloak of Greater Protection for the Giftbearer's Cloth? (I think it's 20 History to make it better than a CoGP, 10 History for it to be equivalent?). For the belt, I'm considering The Maker's Own Power (A heal and +1 Might, as well as some Crush armor rating - the build lacks any physical armor otherwise).

I'll pick up The Red Hand and play around with it. I do like the way my character wears it. The extra Penetration and innate Veil Piercing might help it win out over the Essence Interruptor.

Edit: And maybe take Mind Blades instead of Iron Will? +15 Will seems like it'd come in really handy though.

Mindblades are one of few must have cipher spells. It is used Vs 2-3 targets. Amplified wave is used Vs bigger crowds and given ur high Int score I'd use Detonate Vs singletargets rather then Disintegrate cuz those 20dmg tics won't be thrilling

    Get over it princess.

If people are going to have a cry whenever they are called an idiot then that is just a reflection of there insecurities.

Go down to the local hardware store and buy a bag of cement and harden the Fck up

I know right? Hardware store here I come!

On topic: Fighters Unbending is so strong that I can grab fighter to multi with only so I can get unbending. Anything other then that from the fighter tree is pure bonus. The stances for example are quite nice. I'm not particularly exited about fighters active offensive abilities in terms of effectiveness vs cost, but thats what I'll pick the other class for.

  6. No idea, didn't test it with WotEP for a long time. However: post 1.1 Spirit Lance still applied Soul Annihilation to the whole AoE (but every hit has a different raw dmg number - no idea what's going on there.

Are the raw dmg numbers very small? Back when I tried it with the Poraiga Halberd I got the impression that the total raw dmg pool were split amongst the targets.

I made a ridiculously high dps single class ranger here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/103542-single-class-build-arcana-archer-ranger/

Have a glance at the video

Sorry, but that has nothing to do with rangers. Any class can do massive dps using scrolls. Scrolls are expensive, some of them require very rare resources and using them every fight isn't realistic. Also most videos are showing convenient melee enemies with low deflection/armor which can be easily pulled together giving the false impression the build will wreck anything when it's clearly not the case.
It is the combination of twin arrow with frostseeker Wich is doing the heavy lifting here. Avenging storm is the only dmg scroll I use because it works so well with twin shot and frostseeker. The number of frostseeker AoEs that trigger on packed mobs with driving flight and twin shot is where the dmg potential is coming from. So yeah, it has everything to do with rangers. If you don't know how to pack mobs wether it's solo or in a party then no its not gonna be anything special.

If played in party wich is what I recommend in the description then Avenging storm scrolls can be completely replaced by combusting wounds wich is even more potent then avenging storm. Besides, storm scrolls use materials wich are easy to buy anyway.
