Theories on Why Revan Failed as a Sith Lord
Zachech replied to Dyan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Revan and Malak didn't seem to be Sith. They were just fallen Jedi. And we still don't really know enough about Revan's plans and life before and after the events of the games to know if he failed or succeeded. -
I used to always play a pessimistic, evil human sorcerer who was really weak and pale and sickly and arrogant and a super powerful magic user. brown hair, brown beard, minimal weapons. but I got tired of that. my latest character was a half-elf rogue that never really got time to play much. dang. i need to find some people that will actually carry through with a game. i haven't played a real RPG in a long time, I'm always the GM.

Don't they say in KOTOR2 that Bastila dies? Or something? I think when you're talking to Malak, and you say something like "Bastila didn't join you," and he replies with something like "not at first, but eventually she did and died?" or am I making this up? I think it would be interesting, but where would it go? Maybe a prequel, ending with her defeating Revan, anything before that she would be too young. And KOTOR3 should be more centered around Revan and all the unanswered questions.

what the hell seriously lock this topic it's just a spam hive

wow, you guys are retarded. the whole point of sci-fi is having stuff that isn't normal, that may not make sense, etc. it's a chance to play in an imagined world. maybe in the future money is gotten rid of, and people work and harvest food for the whole race out of moral duty and the desire to help their people. maybe racism and classism is gone and the government makes sure that all have enough to eat. maybe magical pink dragons fly around sneezing food onto people. that's the whole point of this kind of stuff. you can make however you want. lighten up. also, in answer to the comments you are thinking of making to this, yes I flamed, yes you think i'm overacting and being hipocrtical since I said lighten up but appear to be worked up, whatever. lock this topic, moderator.

poverty is defined by not having enough money to buy what you need. so hmmmm......get rid of money, and there is no poverty. takes no magic.

Creating your own PnP rules system
Zachech replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
I use a hitpoint system mixed in with some other variations, such as location. when random, the location of an attack is picked by the amount of damage done. what i mean is if a character attacks and deals 30 damage then i say the attack hit a more vital area, where as 1 damage is a mere skin scratch. characters can also aim for a specific location if they want penalties to their accuracy. location also has other effects, so that large damage to the arm for instance can cut off an arm, etc. large amounts of damage always cause bleeding damage every turn thereafter, and bleeding damage from different wounds stacks up. so basically what I have is lots of hp and weapons that don't do quite as much damage proportionately, but as a fight goes on different wounds impair a character in certain ways and all of the penalties and bleeding damage quickly causes a character to be defeated, rather than hitting the character enough times to lower their hp to 0. in real life you don't take twelve hits and then die, you might take 3 and then start to lose your focus and your cool as you bleed all over the place, and then eventually the 4th strike will kill you. in general in my RPG's I try to combine the generic, restricting D&D rules with more sensible, White Wolf type rules mixed with just some plain storytelling to make stuff a blend of rules, sense, and smoothness. -
in response to one of the earlier serious posts..... 1) about poverty being erased being complete fantasy.....wow. first off, you're pretty pessimistic, second of all.....hmmmm.....sci fi? science FICTION? Maybe it doesn't have to be completely normal? I don't know, I don't know, just a thought!!! 2) for the second time, not grim and completely dark doesn't mean UTOPIAN. It doesn't mean there's NO evil. It means that there is evil and conflict, but the overall theme and feel of the game isn't dark and foreboding and tragic, and it means that there is a more positive mentality in the people instead of a negative one. 3) bawls
-
I don't meen utopian, I just mean that the setting is grim and the overall theme isn't tragedy. Like, Star Trek says that war, disease, poverty, all of that disappears within 50 years of making first contact. There's still strife and battle out in the galaxy with the klingons, romulans, cardassians, borg, what have you, and the villains can be completely nefarious, but in the end the overall theme is an enlightened, wise, and happy in the face of sadness kind of thing. where as star wars is a complete tragedy full of corruption, poverty, war, and men who believe they are invicible and end up killing themselves and everyone around them. it's not until episode 6 that there's any peace and tranquility and brightness, and even then, anakin is dead, yoda is dead, obi-wan is dead, the imperial remnant is still around, etc, etc.

I actually hate that dark setting of the future that everything portrays. The universe is set with more of a Star Trek feel: when after all of the terrible, dark things happen and Earth is ravaged by war and all that, everything works out in the end. "The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives." That sort of thing. I'm not talking like everything is good and no conflict and hippy, I just mean that the feeling of the universe isn't one of perpetual ignorance, strife, oppression, etc. And thanks again for all the comments
-
it's not really magic, just extra abilities. like clerics of certain gods have certain attribute bonuses or skill bonuses or whatever.
-
it's more along the lines of stark trek, but there is "magic" too. there are psions, and clerics who are given a little bit of power from their deities. All the deities in this setting are aliens, though. plus there's so many aliens with special adaptations that it still has sort of a fantasy feel, just pushed into the future. I'm thinking of making it CE 2700ish in the milky way. thanks for the ideas, keep them coming!
-
So I've had this fantasy RPG running for a few years and now the "Sequel" I'm working on is a sci-fi epic (it's my own design, not a game system like d20 or anything). Basically, after so many years of dishing out stories, I seem to be fresh out of ideas for an overall storyline. Anyone have any basic ideas for a major storyline or even for some side quests?

luckily the air speeder breaks down after afew uses and forces you to walk aroundso that will rigger th reight suff sorry about thespelling my cat is sitting on my keyboard ansd keep biting me as i ty to type
-
ok yeah I'd been airspeeding around so when it broke i had to walk (which is really annoying and a considerable problem in both Knights games) and that triggered the stuff. thanks
-
no one attacked me I did do a swoop race and won
-
I've paid him 2000 credits. Maybe I just need to wander around and talk to more people and get the exchange on my arse.
-
ok yeah then I killed the other guy not visquis. and no one attacked me when i went back to the ebon hawk. and i've seen the cutscene where the wookiee chokes that girl.
-
You mean left the planet? No. I just went back to the ebon hawk to see if that would trigger anything, but nothing happened. i'm still on the planet however.
-
I've done everything on Nar Shaddaa, but nothing has happened. I haven't found the Jedi, or been given the chance to complete Vogga's request of killing Goto. I read a walkthrough and it talks about Viquish or something, but I think I killed him in the refugee sector. Help!?!
-
yeah I put the video settings to a little above default since i exceed all of the reccomendations, but that shouldn't cause it to be a lag factory, should it?

Coolest/Funniest Dialogue
Zachech replied to Dark_Lord_Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I found it amusing after you pick the Handmaiden when everyone goes back to their respective rooms and Atton makes a remark about how he doesn't have a room and that he'll sit in the ****pit like he always does. I also liked the line "I wanna hold your gland" in the Crystal Cave on Dantooine. -
I have windows XP, 768 MB RAM, Radeon 9250 graphics, 17 GB of hard drive space left, yadda yadda everything is in the green on the scan, but the game is still pretty laggy. I think it may be my virtual memory that is causing the problem, but I don't really know what virtual memory is or what it does. It says I have 384 MB of virtual memory "currently allocated." What should I do?
