  1. Well, if stats reflect companions as a character, it would mean that all of them are mediocrities not worth speaking of. Not a good way of looking at it, eh? Why not go further? Why would you select the skills and talents for the companion? If the player remains unchecked, he can ruin the character by, say, making our tank character an archer! Outrage! Oh, and while we're at it let's prohibit you to meddle with their equipment, it ruins the immersion! (DA2, I'm looking at you). I do understand obsidian, they probably wanted to make sure that all of the classes are self-sufficient, so that they could be versatile. But that turned them into the jacks of all trades, masters of none. The only good enough companion I've seen was Eder, since you didn't really need stats to tank well, as long as you're fighter and you pick the talents and skills you want. But everybody else is just not that good.
  2. You can respec your own attributes, and you can respec the attributes of the adventurers that you've hired in the tavern, but you are not allowed to change the attributes of the preset companions (Eder, Aloth, etc)
  3. Today I've hit the 100 hour mark in Pillars of Eternity. But out of this 100, I've spent at least 90 either without any companions, or with the custom made ones. I haven't done a single companion quest, my only knowledge of them comes from their first dialogue. I just can't have an inefficient companion when I can make the custom one and optimize its stats as I see fit. So when it was announced that 2.0 would make it possible to respec your companions, I was really hyped. I was more hyped about it than about the DLC. Finally, I thought, I might explore all the characters with their unique stories! I can finally do their quests! I can enjoy the party banter during the dialogues! Boy, was I wrong. When I've tried respecing my Aloth and it didn't let me change the attributes, I went to the bug report subforum!!! I haven't even thought that it could be something other than the feature not working correctly! And over there I've found out that you can only respect your main character and the custom ones. I've been so mad ever since! I did accept it during the 1.0 because there were no respec mechanic in place back then, but I'll never understand this arbitrary restriction regarding the preset companions now. You may say that the game is easy enough for you to complete it with the preset companions even on PoTD, and I would agree with you. But I won't ever have a 12 Might Wizard in my party. Or 11 Might 12 Int cypher. Or the 19 Resolve priest. Or any other mediocre companions. Sorry for the rant, but I'm truly disappointed.
  4. Description: If you talk to Eder (the dialogue that triggers him to join your party) after completing the "Lord of a Barren Land" quest, favoring Kolsc, Eder's dialogues won't be adjusted to the fact that Roedric is dead and Kolsc is a new lord. Mostly it results in phrases in line of "I'm the next one to hang" (even though he's standing right next to the group of people who just removed the corpses from the tree) and "Kolsc is on the run" Steps to Reproduce the Issue: 1) Complete "Lord of a Barren Land" quest by killing Roedric 2) Return to the gilded vale 3) Talk to the animancer dwarf for the first time 4) Talk to the Eder
  5. I really like those three: 1) Fighter - main tank (thanks to the defender modal ability) 2) Cipher - range DD (Pretty much the best range DD in the game with huge range of awesome skills - what else would you want?) 3) Chanter - either offtank or range DD (I prefer him as an offtank because of all of his debuffs) All of them properly minmaxed, of course Considering that during most of the encounters you could position yourself really good in the doors or other similar bottleneck-friendly locations, I fill the rest of those with one (or several) of the following: 4) Paladin - offtank/support. Auras, some reasonably good skills (+3 DT aura, single-target heal, ressurect, cleanse). If I feel that I need someone extra on the first line, I always pick paladin 5) Rogue - Range DD. Best range DD after the cipher, in my opinion. Plus, there should be someone to fiddle with all those locks and traps, right? 6) Barbarian with the pike. The best second-line option, if that's what you want to do 7) Priest - range DD. I tend to just drag him around, using his skills only once every couple of hours in the tough fights. But still, that's a good safety measure to have
  6. I've started a cheat run to see, what could you possibly get (in terms of NPC aggro range, quests and notable drops) by doing a 'chaotic evil' run, killing everyone on sight. I've encountered 2 quest bugs, hindering my progress. My fiddling with stats might've been the cause of those two bugs, and I'm too lazy to check if that's the case, so I'm reporting those bugs anyway. PoTD difficulty, with trial of iron and expert mode on. Here's 2 bugs I've mentioned: 1) Impossible to advance "Visions and Vispers" quest because if impossibility of rest at the inn. Steps to reproduce: 1. Arrive at Gilded Vale 2. Trigger the automatic cutscene - dialog with the magistrate 3. He sends you to the inn to rest (and updates the quest, saying to do just so) 4. Enter the inn 5. Kill the innkeeper before resting Now, you can't advance any further, because you are required to rest at the inn to trigger the dialogue with the animancer dwarf. And without that dialogue, you can't get to the Caed Nua. As far as I can tell you can only trigger the rest menu by dialogue with the innkeeper, and I haven't found any interactable beds on both floors. 2) "Buried Secrets" quest doesn't finish properly. Steps to reproduce: 1) Enter the temple of Eothas 2) Speak with the NPC and receive the quest 3) Kill the NPC - questgiver 4) Quest is NOT automatically failed 5) Proceed to the lower level of the temple and interact with the body (by reaching for the soul) 6) I've selected option among the lines of "your betrayer is already dead, I made sure of that" 7) Dialogue ends, body can't be interacted with no longer, bones can't be picked up, quest doesn't end. At this point I've murdered every NPC in Gilded Vale and Raedric's hold (including Kolsc and the NPCs that take the bodies of the hanging tree). What surprised me is that I can't enter Caed Nua normally (it just doesn't appear on the map even if you use the east exit from Black Meadow. I'm essencially stuck (and I'm really glad it was a test run and not the real one)
