Oh gosh, when Totalbiscuit died I watched the memorial edition of the co-optional podcast and the chat was a steady stream of people just typing "F", and I didn't understand what was going on... it just clicked in my brain.

  2. Korra has croutons of brilliance inside a soup of disappointment. Season 1 was pretty good other than the annoying love triangles, season 2 has the fantastic episodes about the first Avatar but nothing else, season 3 is okay and season 4 I can't even remember - there was a giant mech piloted by Zelda Williams at some point? Compared to the original show, which had maybe two or three meh episodes and was great next to that, Korra just doesn't compare. The worst thing about Korra is that it bleeds potential, but it bleeds it to death.

  3. War of the Overworld+PetDungeon DLC because of Steam sale.

....but I have yet to even download it. :disguise: I'm actually more interested in the pet dungeon then I am any mission-campaigning. When it came to Dungeon Keeper 2 (which is what I think, based on videos, War of the Overworld more resembles), the Pet Dungeon was really my fave aspect.

My Pet Dungeon was one of my fav aspects of DK2, but I was disappointed by WftO. Lemme know if the DLC is any good.

  4. That sucks, for both of you. My mum's got arthritis in both wrists (at least, that's the diagnosis they're sticking with now) and similarly nothing the doctors make her do or give her does anything for her. Makes going to the doctor with a problem feel a bit useless.

  5. My main problem with Steam -as always- is that they have games that have compatibility issues with Windows 7,8 or 10.

Sure, you can always google around for a solution but it is still a problem Valve doesn't give two ****s about.

Yeah this is a massive issue for me. I no longer buy anything more than two years old from Steam, games like KotOR are already a bitch to run on Steam.

  6. Good job Hurl, I really respect ypur commitment and progress.

In other news, human backs are the biggest argument against intelligent design. Tried to open a tiny window above a door yesterday and now I can barely move.

  7. This one's over the limit. Since E3 has came and went, I think these discussions can go into the RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS topic so I'm not putting up a new one. HOWEVER, if someone disagrees and feels this needs its own topic, feel free to start one. :)

  8. Discuss what you're playing here now. Last time, we were discussing Dark Souls as played by Mamoulian War.

More Dark Souls for me. And Stray Demon went down after like 1 hour or so.

Sigh I really suck against some bosses. Demon’s Souls was much easier for me, because if you stacked on spices, you would never run out of spells. And my reflexes are pretty ****ty for going melee all the time.

Anyway, I have found new place to hate. Anor Londo and two archers guarding your progress on a tight way up the roofs with knockback arrows. One bad hit, and you fall down the roofs and “YOU HAVE DIED”.

    *sighs*

    More annoying than Blighttown...

Yeah, it's pretty much agreed upon that playing any sort of magic on your first playthrough for a Soulsborne game is "easy mode". The only game I'd recommend that for personally is Dark Souls 2, but that's just because that game controls like such hot garbage that I can't blame anyone for struggling with it. But hey, if that's what you need to enjoy the game, so be it.

Those crappy archers are infamous - the easiest way to deal with them is to just rush all the way up to the top, approach the one on the right and make him pull out his sword, and then start backing up (but not too much that he takes out his bow again) and then get him to fall off the edge when he tries to attack you. The first time I ever went through there, I did it without a problem...but the second time I went through, it took about 15-20 tries before I figured out what to do.

I'm playing Jurassic World Evolution, since I'm a weak man with no resistance to impulse buying vastly overpriced games myself.

  9. I'm not sure about that, but I do feel (mostly from anecdotal evidence in this case) that a lot of people take drugs that are wrong for them and accept it simply because the doctor told them to take it. Almost everyone I've seen take antidepressants does so as an ongoing thing when most of the time they're better off using them as a stabilizer to help them get back on track. Some people may need it, especially if depression is a form of comorbidity with mental illness, but I think most people diagnosed with depression should not be getting ongoing prescriptions ad infinitum. Ideally I'd want more education on medication use.

Then why the highest suicide rates are among the rich and not the people this guy listed?

I'd be interested in reading a source for that claim, my google fu failed me and gave me only research that said the opposite (paraphrased, number may be slightly off):

    - If you live among people with higher income than you, suicide rates rise.

    - If you make less than 36.000$ suicide rates are 50% higher than anything above.

    - Unemployed people have 78% higher suicide rates than anyone else.

But the research I found was dated, released in 2012. Where'd you get this info?

As far as I can tell, suicide rates among the "rich" have risen more quickly, but that's only because the suicide rate along the "poor" was already so high (and is therefore has a lower rate of rising only) and the rates for the "rich" haven't even come close to catching up despite their meteoric rise.

EDIT: Either way, even if this guy is talking nonsense Reuters claim is much worse. Antidepressants treats symptoms, not causes. They cannot fix anything and more of them are not a solution. It's sticking more bandaids on an infected wound.
