While that makes sense, it doesn't explain why lightsabers went from weighing several pounds to an ounce.

I was trolling the idea that was posited earlier in this thread that because the West doesn't assimilate other cultures but resists them the West is somehow inferior to cultures who assimilate Western cultures into their own. I mockingly gave it a completely different root cause that makes just as much sense. I actually disagree with the entire premise, however.

Best Roti is Surinam Roti Massala with Snake Beans. John, whoever he is, can go suck it. I'm so hungry now...

Which gives the fight more meaning. For all the backstory every little detail in the prequels has, very few of them have such meaning as Darth Vader being a badass by fighting one handed, or Luke wearing black throughout Return of the Jedi because he's in danger of turning to the dark side but at the end his shirt falls open to reveal it was always white on the inside.

In the behind the scenes stuff from the originals, Lucas himself specifies that lightsabers have weight. They are heavy, like real swords. The quick kendo style fighting with them swinging around lightsabers like they're bamboo sticks is a weird change.

I believe you mean this when you say weird blender sequence?

I'm looking forward to whatever cuisine the Syrians bring. TN what did you mean by that Troll post ? What ideology is less by integration? You're going to have to specify which troll post.

I should have used your blue text. It was actually delicious and gross and greasy in that way only the most unhealthy junk food can be.
-
Definitely not. We don't even have a McDouble. KFC fares better. They just introduced the Double Down Burger here too - I tried it and it tasted sufficiently American, meaning my arteries clogged up and I wanted to kill myself in shame.
-
Very true. We have the McKroket (it's a burger-shaped wad of ragou covered breadcrumbs and then fried), Germany has the McBratwurst. France has the Royale with Cheese.

Here's the reason why it's not called something else: Because it grew from actual Chinese restaurants organically over a long period of time. It was assimilated into our culture. Most people don't even know what they're eating isn't Chinese food. I know people who have come back from vacations in China and told me how surprised they were that the food is completely different. That's because the culture has been assimilated and changed and people made new things, just like you said we didn't do and was our weakness. Now it's a bad thing? Again, you just make stuff up to be contrarian. You're just moving the goal posts. On the ignore list you go, I don't have time to argue with someone who does so in bad faith. Go talk to Bruce, I'm sure he'll be happy to oblige your desire to argue.

So it's Chinese who change, not you... You assume Chinese restaurants still have Chinese staff. They don't. In fact, the Dutch-Chinese community laments the loss of real Chinese restaurants because most of their children moved on to the better paying hotel industry. I could drive to about 6 chinese restaurants in 10 minutes from my house and only one of them is actually staffed by Chinese cooks. (Unsurprisingly, it's the one with the tastiest food because the westernized variants are ****). EDIT: In fact, a lot of the westernized variants also serve non-Chinese food despite labeling themselves Chinese restaurants. You can get Chop Suey along with Nasi Goreng and Babi Pangang.

Weve already assimilated the best that the east has to offer and continued our advancements. That's why you are trying so hard to emulate the West, without us you would be wandering and lost, like a ship without a rudder. We are here to show you the proper way so your ship doesn't crash upon the rocky shore. Haha, exactly! What is left of eastern culture is what we have allowed them to keep!
-
Again, that's simply not true. If you go to a Chinese restaurant in the Netherlands and order Chinese dishes you get wildly different things than you would in China because they've changed over time. You only think that's true because all you know about the west comes from TV and the Internet.
-
Regarding western culture rejecting asian culture: I'm an awful cook but literally everyone who knows anything about cooking in the Netherlands knows how to make satay ayam, beef rendang, nasi goreng, roti and a bunch of other dishes. I meditate. I do a westernized form of yoga mixed with Cardio exercises. We assimilated and took the best parts of Eastern culture so long ago. Western rock bands have been using asian themes since before I was even born. Even Led Zeppelin is chockful of asian influences. Western music took asian music, repackaged it, and sold it back to asians which is why they can't even tell the difference anymore.

Americans made Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is a better anime than most authentic Japanese anime.
-
Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus get higher ratings in Asia. The East literally enjoys them more than we do.
-
Drinking, gambling and clubbing is what you think equates happiness in the west? That does make it obvious that you see the west as seen through "the internet". Here's the thing, the internet always lies.
-
Psh, the only thing that makes my friends happy is more anime and pocky. Eastern culture is obviously being assimilated.
-
Troll mode: Western culture isn't being willfully assimilated by other cultures, it's overpowering their culture because it's better than theirs. That's not strength, that's weakness.

I believe there was an attempt to exterminate them about 60 years ago, so I'd say "no problem with Jews since medieval time" is an overstatement.

The thread to discuss any game you might be playing right now. Last posts are about a game I... don't actually know what games they're talking about but it is what they're playing right now.
-
I'm playing the "board maintainance" game. It's a pain. Thread closed for length, new part coming up.

For pictures of your games. Last posts: Ugh, yeah, had my first "I ambush you" mission and the only real upside is that I get to at least position my team...starting within reach of enemies just always sucks. I've been putting off the storyline missions forever, maybe I should at least try to get Act 1 done, seems the missions don't scale so that first missions *should* theoretically be a cakewalk by now... I hope... Maybe I'll just wait a little longer...your reports are kinda scary and all...
