How To Get In The Game Industry?
Yes, I don't know about anything called an Academy. I understand that here in Australia any institute can call itself an academy and strict guidelines apply only to universities.

I loved Firefly, unfortunately, it was on at 3am where I live. However, I watched it on DVD and thought it was great. Looking forward to Serenity: The Firefly Movie coming out here in November, I think.

What Kind of Games Would You Like to Make
Obvioulsy I'd love to see IWD3, BG3, Fallout 3 etc etc. Or maybe an adventure game? why are there no more adventure games? I mean where else can you combine masking tape, a cat and some maple syrup to make a fake moustache?

I am a fan girl for three things: My Cat, Butterpaws: Henry Rollins "If I lose the light of the sun, I will write by candlelight, moonlight, no light. If I lose paper and ink, I will write in blood on forgotten walls. I will write always. I will capture nights all over the world and bring them to you. " And Alienware computers, cause its shiny purple.

Game Tester
Ack. Some people get all the good jobs. Why isn't there a green with jealousy smilie? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think people have a pretty rosy picture of what QA is in their minds. Don't get me wrong - I love working on games, and I love working at Obisidian. I enjoy QA Testing. But it's a lot more than just playing a game and giving your opinion on it. A lot of the time you're doing very mundane, repetitive stuff. Stuff like running through the same level over and over again, completing a checklist of every ability of every unit in an RTS, Checking the damage of every weapon in an FPS (over, and, over, and over again), running up against all the exterior walls of levels to find map holes and stuck spots, etc. etc. etc. There are fun times, too, and every once in a while you really get to sit back, get into your gamer mentality, and playtest. But (excuse the cliche) it's not all fun and games. I still do feel lucky that I have this job, though. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, thats more than I thought was involved definitely. I guess its the start in the games industry that a QA position really represents that I am jealous of.

There are only a couple of options for this type of degree in Australia. I am currently doing a CS degree (majoring in Games Technology) at Murdoch University, Western Australia. I'm enjoying it so far. Most of the stuff this year has been basic, practical stuff, but I'm looking forward to next year when I get to do units like "Games Design" and "Software for Games Development". Of course, the problem with things like internships is that there aren't many Games Production companies here.

I have a question, someone take a look please...
I've done some work with Swift 3D and found it useful doing the basic stuff that I need for my first year units.

What are your favourite shoes
I have about 23 pairs of shoes with me at college, and about 28 more at home. My favourite (at the moment) are a pair of pale green, sequinned ballerina flats. I suspect I am addicted.
