  1. They are both the only decent characters in a otherwise pretty boring story. I expected more from Obsidian. Still a decent game.
  2. Okay these are pretty nice buffs, still KW and Shieldbearers are still the best orders.. Hope they target Ranger next.
  3. I also think Guts leans more towards Barbarian than a disciplined fighter. A Barbarian can be a master swordsman after all.
  4. Have gun will travel reads the card of a man A knight without armor in a savage land His fast gun for hire heeds the calling wind A soldier of fortune is a man called Paladin Paladin Paladin where do you roam Paladin Paladin far far from home He travels on to wherever he must A chess knight of silver is his badge of trust There are campfire legends that the plainsmen sing Of a man with the gun of the man called Paladin Paladin Paladin where do you roam Paladin Paladin far far from home Far far from home far far from home
  5. Sure mazeltov, that works on easy, normal, hard. I just made this two handed greatsword build on potd and it worked pretty well. Variation of one I already posted. Mig 14 Con 11 Dex 9 Per 14 Int 11 Res 19 Lay on Hands Zealous Focus Sworn Enemy Reviving Exhortation Liberating Exhortation Righteous Soul Strange Mercy Superior Deflection Cautious Attack Two handed style Unstoppable Weapon Focus Soldier With Tidefall it was quite fine. I refuse to dump stats because reasons.
  6. I just feebly state it. I just wanted to smite evil with a carsomyr analogue or sunlight spears ;_;
  7. Potd makes the game not boring. To me its default, for new players stick to the other 3. its not about being "elite git gud", debuffing and intense micro makes potd battles much more intense, when you party pulls trough a fight you rally feel it.
  8. That little aura regen Chanters get would have made more sense on Paladin, but maybe that would have made them too powerful as tanks.
  9. The Light does not shine on PoE paladins. I believe what people say that builds are either too much focused on dps or tanking, a middle ground for all classes would make the combat much more fluid.
  10. Marked Prey and Sworn Enemy have been set to 0 recovery actions, so they can be used and the Ranger/Paladin can immediately act again. A slight buff, nothing major, I dont think they will ever buff Paladins.
  11. I think I am going for a semi tank KWayfarer, I hate dumping stats, I know there is no negative checks so the system encourages stat dumping, but well makes no sense. Mig 14 Con 11 Dex 9 Per 14 Int 11 Res 19 Lay on Hands Zealous Focus Flames of Devotion\ or does deprive the unworthy worth it? Reviving Exhortation Liberating Exhortation Righteous Soul Strange Mercy\ sword and the sheperd is cool in the begging but gets really weak, feeding on weaker enemies seems best. Hold the line Cautious Attack Weapon and Shield Unstoppable\ seems nice may switch it for superior deflection Weapon Focus I already tried tons of different Paladin builds all of them underwhelming. Maybe this one will be somewhat decent at tanking and some damage, also provide some relief to frontliners.
  12. If you're committed to going two-handed, you should definitely grab Zealous Accuracy - there's even an argument for taking it as a tanky solo paladin. 6 accuracy is nothing to sneeze at. But I'd stay away from the critical boosting talent. It's not worth much on this type of character, especially since "hits to crits" works as an extension of the normal Accuracy system. Even in Potd? I guess especially in potd because you face xaurips champions with 76 deflection. The extra DR can be aquired from other boasting stuff.
  13. Does critical focus 5% work on the Paladin itself? I wonder if a two handed Paladin build would benefit better form the extra 3DR from zealous endurance.
  14. Paladins are just uninspired class. They would probably work pretty well in a turn based game. "The game is not and will not be balanced around PotD." Thats what I have been doing wrong with my Paladin, thanks mazeltov I should have just picked easy.
  15. Its true, the stat demand for Paladins is incredible and even if it wasnt they would still be mediocre, If the game had multiplayer they would realize pretty fast the class needs some desperate tweaking. I am torn, I love the paladin orders lore, but they feel so weak. I dont even like Pallegina as a pally companion. Oh well.
  16. Aye. Longknife has tried to do good discussions of it but got sort of attacked by paladin lovers (?) who were equally passionate, but had misinformation on some powers, stacking, aura radius, bugs, cast times (whatever, there's a lot of issues with the paladin) and it devolved into "they can tank well enough" or "LOLZ I beats the game wit' ma paladin" when the underlying issues of bugs, bland play, etc were never addressed. Exactly, and Paladin IS a good class to solo because of those stupid high saves and deflection, and abusing items, but the major selling point, Support, is bad ( I actually think its bad because of the nature of the combat itself but thats another story). As I said I respect Obsidian decision to try to be different and make them Warlords, Marshalls... it could have worked, but with how the combat really performs it falls short. The only way to make Paladin strong is min max since they are so attribute starved, thankfully the game rewards min max, I cant dump Int and dex and forget about auras and max deflection and Might\Con. By this point the Paladin becomes quite resilient.
  17. Longknife is not a troll, Paladins are bland and boring as hell, he has a right to be "passionate" about the class. Problem is too many classes to balance, In my opinion Paladin should have just been a sub kit of fighter ingame, with a bonus special lay on hands or a spell selection for flavour or something.
  18. The only way to play Paladin for me right now is completely ignoring his abilities\exhortations and just pick sworn enemy, strange mercy from KW and a bunch of deflection talents to make me not regret picking a fighter instead. Sweet Athena eyes obsidian, way to ruin such a classic class.
  19. I can respect Obsidian idea of going for a Marshall, Warlord D&D feel, but it just does not work, they are my favourite class in rpgs and the fact they are so mediocre in POE really saddens me. Its not easy to balance a RTWP game, and I feel they would have made a better game if it was turn based with this type of class. I will play this subpar fighter minimizing his weaknesses ( min dex and int, dont care about auras) and maximizing everything else, only wasting a talent on strange mercy which is quite good for frontline service.
  20. People can solo the Adra Dragon on PotD using them. So there's that. Illuminate me with what build? Goblin Orlan tank?
  21. I apologize, I just returned form a rough night when I posted this and my little comfortable place in gaming is always a bit shatered when I see Eder surviving and my Paladin laying on the gorund next ot him. I was a bit passionate because I like Paladins in rpgs, and although I love the game and Sawyers tattoos, they are a very bland class in this game. I know they wanted to go Warlord, Marshall type but even that they dont do as well. But by sweet Athena eyes, give the class a little buff pls. Love you Avellone.
  22. At least give him more uses of FOD, and fix faith and conviction on companions. Also Support abilities are complete crap except for reviving and sworn enemy. And how the hell do I last hit on potd? Give him some spells.
  23. Can we epxet some sort of improvemnt in combat animations and sound. Not that the ones already implemented are bad, just that I expected some finishing moves like in Fallout.
