[BUG] Cipher - cannot choose skin color
Ah, my bad. I wasn't aware they had set colors. Is this also true of the hair styles? Godlikes have a couple hair styles each.

The music! Good or no?
I think the music is good. Some tracks could use a little extra mixing, but overall I felt it fit and was complementary to the game.

Backer beta: Developer Impressions
Yep. If I remember correctly, in BG2, killed enemy mages (randomly?) drop some scrolls that you can't get anywhere else (or at least not as early), so even if there were zero combat XP in that game, powergamers would still make sure never to miss an opportunity to fight mages... Well placed xp "items" and encounters enhance the exploration aspect, too. As was the case in the Gothic games with their books and lecterns hidden in hard to reach places.

You can have a 20 year beta as long as I can ride on turtles.

Backer beta: Developer Impressions
BG games don't make it on any comprehensive lists of dungeon crawlers. The city of Baldur's gate itself was far larger than any single dungeon in the game. Too much story and dialogue to be a dungeon crawl.

Backer beta: Developer Impressions
With regards to combat xp... add in very rare "oddities" like in Underrail* that can drop from combat encounters. Otherwise, I see no real need for getting xp from every combat encounter. You aren't going to learn something every time you fight, nor is every fight going to challenge your physical and mental boundaries. *A great example of a well thought out attribute, leveling and xp system.

Backer Beta Information [Not Live Yet]
Exactly. Other self-funded classic RPG project - Age of Decadence - used this approach, sharing its working beta with backers as it expanded. At the current stage the AoD backer beta includes about 2/3 of the game's content, AFAIK, and it's pretty awesome. The game is available for pre-purchase on steam, and a big working beta is a great incentive to buy into the project well before release. (although the game itself is only for hardcore CRPG players, it's pretty unforgiving). Yes, but AoD has been in beta for like 4 years.

Stuck character bug, more observations
I get this sometimes, usually when characters are equipped with ranged weapons, but not always. They will get stuck in reload or aiming animations.
