  1. Patch has worked for me so far. I thought it got stuck at 96% too, but it is just a really big file I guess... total install time was 24 min. I started from my first save off Peragus, I just got to Nar Shadda.
  2. So all of a sudden, your box was too hot? That makes no sense, yet at the same time it does make sense. What I can't figure out is - why was I able to run so long previous to that fatal crash? And now I can not play for more than a couple minutes? I have never had heat problems. I do know that my CPU runs about 135F, but that has never been a problem and I thought that was a normal temperature. I will try adding a fan and see if that helps... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> MSI motherboards - the kind I have - apparently have a issue with overheating. Apparently the longer I kept my computer on, the worse it got. Plaved another 3 hours after the 2 hr run and not a single problem. That was the only thing I changed. Hope it works for you
  3. It still works...played over 2 hours no crashing
  4. I think I figured out the Telos fuel thing. It took a while, but if you get into enough dialogue with Goto, you figure it out eventually. Granted, this conclusion is sketchy at best, but in a very round about way it makes sense. It just wasn't played out very well. Lt. Grenn offers you a reward for finding fuel. There are two options to get Vogga the Hutt to agree to deliver fuel. Goto offers you a reward for stabilizing Telos and finding a fuel source. BUT........ Goto also says that Vogga is not an option because it will bankrupt the Republic. So, there goes Goto's reward. Since there are no other fuel sources available aside from Vogga, the story for that one stops there. Vogga says Grenn would not be happy to hear it from him, so you have to tell Grenn instead. Vogga also says he has begun shipments. Since we know that Grenn might not like the idea of getting fuel from Vogga OR bankrupting the Republic and Vogga has begun shipments it is possible that Grenn would refuse the shipments, we just weren't informed of that. If you were able to get Vogga to deliver fuel, the battle on Citadel Station could change drastically, and perhaps it would not work at all. So either there is a different fuel source that was cut out OR (and this is my personal belief) that quest was not thought out as well as the rest of the game. Thoughts on that, anyone? Anyone from Obsidian have a comment or clarification? Did I miss something?
  5. Yes, there are some flaws...BUT this is the best game I have ever played (since Diablo ll) for a number of reasons. 1) The number of dialogue options borders on unreal. I have been through this game 13 or 14 times. Every single time I play I encounter new dialogue. Not just one or two lines, but many. I play a very thorough game each time (min. 30 hours) so it isn't like I am rushing through and not talking to the rest of my party. I know there is more that I haven't come across, because there are many dialogue options I have not taken. No wonder the game takes up so much HD space! 2) The story is excellent, even with the missing parts. I just stop playing after the Ravager, that way I don't have to deal with the ending. For me it is all about exploring the seemingly infinite possibilities in the rest of the game. 3) Watching my characters in battle is really cool. The fighting movements are really fun to watch, and are very graceful at times. Playing other party memebers in battle is fun, and figuring out other ways to use them to avoid losing influence with others and gain influence with them is fun. 4) The detail in the graphics is awesome, especially if you manage to max all your graphics options - even if just for a few moments. The movies are very cool - I have unlocked 56 so far. There are so many different ways you can play this game, and as I said, even with the flaws...It is a really kick a** game. I can't stop playing it!
  6. All my drivers are up to date. No lagging on Dantooine (only very briefly) so the disable vertex thing isn't my issue. I used that when I had my processor running at 1.1 GHz...that has been months ago now. I do think I figured it out, though. I added a second fan to the inside of my case...I had checked my cpu/system temperature and it was over 130 F... I played for over two hours straight without it crashing. In fact, in never did crash again after that. But, that was only last night, and only for one session. I will try again today and post my findings.
  7. I had very few problems with the game crashing at first as long as I would re-start the game every couple hours or so (on those 10 hour gamplay days) but now after about 30 minutes I get a high-pitched tone and my pc locks up and/or shuts down. Nothing shows up in my event logs or error logs. The game itself does not crash . I have uninstalled/reinstalled my soundcard and graphics card drivers, as well as the game. I have defragmented my hd in between uninstalling and re-installing the game, cleaned my registry, started over with fresh characters and everything. No viruses, spyware, malware, etc. If anyone has a clue as to what the problem might be, I would really appreciate it. Thanks! 8. Next time you watch Star Wars (ep.4\a new hope), notice that the remote Bao-Dur has is exactly the same as the remote Luke practices with on the Millenium Falcon.
  9. Thanks very much. Must have read it wrong the first time. .....time to change the font
  10. This has been driving me nuts. When I installed kotor 2 the first time, I could have sworn it took up 2,800 ish MB on my HD (through add/remove progs.). I had some problems with it crashing after using cheats so I uninstalled and reintalled and now it uses about 4,200 MB. I have only 2 save game files - both brand new (not even off Peragus yet), and now I am crashing constantly. I figure I read it wrong the first time, and it really is that big - or...(this is what I am thinking) did the uninstall fail/leave something behind and now it has messed up the files? Anyone care to share the file size info from their add/remove program list please? Thanks!
  11. You only get handmaiden if you are a male character.
  12. Bugs I have found: Text speeds up, sound gets choppy after extended play. Rebooting the game fixes this until I have played for a while again. Game stutters/gets choppy for a few minutes right after saving - no matter how long I have been playing. Bao-Dur's influence fluctuates, regardless of what you do. One minute his features are red and black, the ten minutes later they are black or grey (and vice-versa) - even if you haven't done anything. This is just confusing. Opening in a window happens now - it didn't the first two times I installed it. I wait until the first screen of options, then you can maximize the window. It has to be the active window in order to have the cursor there. I do not have the 'disable vertex buffer' line in my .ini file anymore. I do not have problems on Dantooine unless I have been playing for a while, then it lags momentarily when facing Khoonda, but that is it. I cannot get it to recognize EAX for some reason. I still have awesome sound from it. Since it appears that I have fewer problems with the way it runs than most people, I put all my pc info below. I hope it helps. I defrag my ram (when it gets below 300MB free) and pagefile sometimes. That may be part of what helps....I am not sure on that, though. *************************************************** AMD Sempron 2600+ (1.83 GHz) MSI KT4A-V (K7) Motherboard 60gig HD with 67% free 512MB Kingston ram Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Logitech 5.1 THX speakers GeForce FX 5500 Video BIOS ver. : 4.34.20.69.65 Bus: AGP 8x Forceware ver. : 71.84 Resolution: 800x600 Graphics: High Shadows: off Waving grass: on Antialiasing: 2x Anisotropic filtering: 2x
