  1. Meh. Level Atton to either 5 or 7 - his Sneak Attack feats will come in handy, especially if you raise his Wisdom and give him the 'Finesse - Lightsaber' feat. Used with any of the paralysis powers (Push, Horror, Stasis), Atton becomes a one-man wrecking crew. Why, the Twin Suns fell to mighty Dark Atton in mere seconds....
  2. Well, having erased kotor2-somethingorother from my system registry and reinstalled K2 to find that it (sort of) works, I began a new LSM profile. All went well, except for a shortage of droids around the Peragus administration console - none down in the lower area with the two plasteel cylinders. Also, Atton and the Exile appeared well outside the fuel lines upon leaving the Harbinger - turns out that you need to keep T3 alive if you're ever going to get him (which of course means rushing past the droids and making sure he's still in one piece before entering the pipe). Despite these glitches, things went well up until Telos, where upon reaching the Entertainment module, I found only one mercenary accosting the Sullustan. Killing him did not trigger the Sullustan dialogue (script for forced dialogue most likely requires the death of both mercs), so I deleted all my Telos saves, and reloaded from the Ebon Hawk. Everything ran perfectly, until reaching the Telos Academy. That's where things went mighty sour. First of all, Atton has a 50/50 chance of loading either directly beside the Handmaiden, or in his Force cage - however, he's still able to rejoin the party after shutting down the cells. Second, half the doors are 'missing'. That is, they're still present in the sense that they block my passage unless I can find an object like a Handmaiden Sister or a Plasteel Cylinder to click on, which magically allows the Exile and party to walk through where the door should be. T3, however, is completely inaccessible. I cannot move my party members near enough to him to 'push past' the invisible, unopenable door. Therefore, I am trapped in the Academy. I've tried deleting the Academy saves and loading the Military Base saves just prior to boarding the shuttle, but so far, it's done nothing. Patching didn't work either, so I'd probably do well to uninstall, clean registry (again) and reinstall. It may also be of interest to note that the patch succeeded in patching up to 96% the last time, crashing while attempting to patch the file after swkotor2.exe. If it helps, I've never had a perfect K2 install - disc 3 and four often have problems continuing installation, and often request the previous disc for verification purposes (files apparently do not match ). It's rather disappointing - KOTOR gave me no problems at all, save for a single incident in which the Sith Base door on Taris was absent, ruining any chance of progressing the plot. Restarting, however, 'fixed' it. Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  3. K2's ending was a bit disappointing, especially compared to the high-stress, switch to solo mode and move the party, one at a time, to the next SF area while somehow surviving wave after wave of puny Dark Jedi feeling of K1. However, the improved combat/skill system is/was a real boon to the game, and allows for immense modding opportunities (provided anyone can get the game running =\). Still, there were many things that should have been left in, despite the rush. Influence should have played at least a minor part in the endgame, as well as alignment. Bah. I'm feeling old and tired now.
  4. Bah. Embracing the Dark Side entirely, allowing it - that is, your brutal, malicious urges - to drive your every thought and action is utter absurdity and is little more than spiritual erosion. Freedom and power have nothing to do with the ability to murder your enemies more quickly and painfully than others. To take the banner of the Dark Side jokingly is to desensitize oneself to the horrors of antagonization and terror-mongering ("Cower, piggies, or taste my steel! Hahahahahaaaa!! ") and cheapen oneself in the process. Conversely, the ways of the Jedi seem to accomodate and facilitate their own martial presence; their teachings are contradictory - inner peace and harmony, avoiding conflict, and simultaneously becoming cold, detached, and remorsless killers in the name of 'wisdom' and 'justice'. Their rigidity also perpetuates the Dark Side's existence - those unable to accept the rigid doctrines invariably turn rogue, and often, to the Dark Side. They become the polar opposite of what they once were, becoming beings enlaved to passion and indulgence, consuming all in excess, as if they were attempting to make up for lost time. Besides, one cannot suppress their emotions and exhibit compassion simultaneously - charity of that sort must be indoctrinated, and most likely guilt-based. Both extremes are irritatingly self-defeating, and perpetuate chaos, destruction, suffering, betrayal, and war. Anyone who has seen the power of moderate dark and light - even in terms of support characters in-game, or reflected in world/SW-galactic events - should be able to envision and theoretically embrace the concept of balance... and that't not brutality one moment and atonement the next, either. One may be emotional and still possess moral compass. One may live to do battle, but shudder at the thought of ever taking life. It's about taking accountability for the fate of the galaxy... or at the very least, for one's immediate surroundings. Stay rational, but never enslave yourself to any form of mindless dogma for the sole reason that doing so will absolve you of any responsibility or accountability for events directly or indirectly under your control. ..Hmm... that all seems so serious. I am preachy... so very preachy.
  5. The path of the Jedi leads to an unfulfilled life - a life in which one rejects experience itself for the illusion of enlightenment. One must be willing to reject the struggle and pain and conflict that can strengthen and enrich one's life, at least through retrospect. One is only as great as their experience. Pacifism itself is insufficent for all occasions and situations. The Dark Side leads its slaves on a bloody path to self-destruction. Murder, torture, betrayal, antagonization - be it upon the smallest insect to such a scale as the galaxy itself - in the name of self-improvement, of power. While it is more than possible to harden onself to suffering and the suffering of others. The Dark Side twists its followers to discard their attachments to others, to ignore and often reject the common ties between biengs - for example, to murder a friend because they 'failed' you in some way - the utter lack of regret for hideously brutal acts of self-indulgence and vanity. Such things are a weakness as well as pacifism. I'd never be willing to sit idly by while someone wraps their hands around my throat solely for the pleasure of taking a life, and I'd certainly never perform the latter action. I'd take the path of neutrality - much greater 'freedom' from ideological restrictions, and much less regret. Closest to the Dark Side I'd go is threatening people and allowing mysaelf to feel angry, though (almost) never allowing myself to act violently upon it. My lightsaber is blue, thank you.
  6. I apologize for the double post, but I must now admit that I was not quite at my wit's end when I posted last. I know this to be true because i am now at my wit's end! I uninstalled, defragged, then reinstalled TSL, repatched, and attempted to play, having made sure not to erase my old saves and config. TSL crashes while attempting to load the intro videos, with the classic, Send/Do Not Send error message. So, I uninstall, reinstall, and don't patch. Crashes identically as before. Once again I un/reinstall, then reboot, patch, and try to load again, this time having deleted my saves and config. This time I make it past the LA/OE videos, and experience a crash as the main TSL splash screen loads. At this point, I uninstalled and reposted. If anyone can help me through this conundrum, I'd be more than grateful. I also have K1 installed, and would rather not delete *every* instance of "kotor'" from my HD, and would rather not tinker with the registry for fear of a registry hive failure/corruption. Still, any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks again.
  7. Well, haven't posted in a while, but hey, I figured this is as good a place to begin. First of all, the patch crashes/aborts during the final 95% (if I'm not mistaken) of the patching process; specifically, I get an 'old file contents do not match...however a file of the same name exists; no update because file contents do not match' message, much like the OMF:BG patch crash (but that's another story). In addition to the patch failing to properly perform the duties for which it was so thoughtfully designed, the Exile's Footlocker on the Harbinger has loaded backwards. That of course means that I cannot access it and the precious, precious Armband within. Furthermore, I'm getting an odd glitch when 'traveling' from the Harbinger engine room to the Peragus Fuel Depot. First, Atton and Exile appear amidst a pile of droids, well outside the intended fuel line in which T3 and the severed couplings/whatever are found. After dispatching the droids and heading inside the fuel pipe, I get Atton's 'it's a maintenance droid' line, and some XP, but no T3-M4. Heading through the pipeline and back to the Harbinger, and then back to the Depot does nothing - in fact, the T3 wreckage disappears, leaving jsut the case of parts. Considering the nature of the items my Melee-focused Consular, darkside-until-Sith Marauder (then sudden LS shift ) Exile has found, specifically, multiple expensive pistols, armour suits, and particularly, a Trandoshan sword and a Gammorean war axe, both of which are equipped... let's say I'd rather not restart, only to find the glitch reappearing in another profile... not that those weapons have staying power, it's just that I prefer keeping potent weapons on the Exile up until Nar Shaddaa. I'm at my wit's end... I may uninstall (though I'll not be looking forward to the 4-disc-with-possible-crapouts-during-final-disc installation) and defrag, though I doubt that'll do much.... Any advice regarding these three issues would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
  8. Last time through, I played Guardian/Weaponmaster, L.27 Light Side, Single saber (Lightside Exile crystal +4 str, +3 dex, +4 wis, +7 dmg vs. Dark Side, +3 Light Side damage, Pontite crystal, Pontite lens, Expert deflection emitter, +5 dmg energy cell, viridian blade), Dark Jedi Knight Robe with Biorestorative underlay Mk.V., GNS Strength Enhancer (+4 str), Jal Shey Meditation Gloves (+2 dex/wis/awareness). Exile's armband, Matukai meditation band (+2 wis, DS resist 30%, Will Saves +2). Overall, truly exceptional gear, gleaned through luck and merchant inventory manipulation (save, check, load, check, etc.) I activated Force Enlightenment, switched to Juyo form and used Master Flurry. My first round stripped it of 3/4 of its health (I had a few bad rolls). The beast dealt 308 damage (at which point a nudge from a gizka would have been lethal), but my second round dropped it. While I've always found the fight to be savage and rather tense, it's rarely long. Only once was a character of mine defeated by that thing, but then again, I was trying to use the Force against it... Beast trick may be useful, though I've never tried it personally.
  9. I'd have to say I got a few more laughs from Jolee Bindo than I did from HK-47, though that may simply be because I never bothered to take HK along for any missions, nor did I havethe skill to repair him. K2 HK was rather entertaining, though. Still, there's fun to be had with Zaalbar on Kashyyyk. I was actually rolling on the floor, a stitch in my side, from the results of the "he says he wants to rip your legs off and beat you with them" dialogue branch with the Czerka slaver, though I can barely remember why I found it as funny as I did.
  10. It's too bad about Bao-Dur's armor and robe limitations; his remote isn't that much of an advantage... I prefer to raise his wisdom, and give him unrestricted powers like Destroy Droid, Heal, and Stun. Darkside powers (in the rare times I actually play DS): Insanity and Scream. I usually equip him with the Krath Holy battle suit (I think), and give him a pair of deflection-geared sabers, with maxed jedi defense feats and force redirection power. It's too bad that lightsabers disable forcefields... Bao-Dur might have been more useful otherwise.
  11. Greetings. I figure I should make my introductory post here, so here goes: I go by Wraith Straddon in KotOR/TSL. I have gone by many online names, but speak little of such things. My personal interests include drawing/inking/CGing, guitar, and writing. I am 20 years old and currently employed as a 'general' labourer.
