  1. That's one bad "fix". You can just put that DLL in the game folder, that way only KotOR uses the old one and you don't cripple performance of everything else...
  2. Because it is no general problem and does work with some driver/card combinations, albeit less than KOTOR1: the drivers that worked best with KOTOR1 crash the game after movies in KOTOR2. The changes Obsidian made to the game engine clearly didn't help stability any.
  3. Might want to disable anti aliasing/anisotropic filtering, they tend to cause problems with ingame videos for ATI cards.
  4. Good call, thought the thread was gone for good.
  5. Same problem here, I can only connect to www.starwars.com and its subsites like www.lucasarts.com through a proxy, and the patcher won't connect at all. It's a bad router along the way but I have no idea what to do about it as my ISP said it is none of theirs and they have no influence over it. Typical convenient, unhelpful support reply. You can open a DOS window and type TRACERT WWW.LUCASARTS.COM to hunt down the bad router, maybe your ISP is more helpful...
  6. Well that reply was for the other guy that claimed the UK update wasn't available at all. Anyways, no doubt a manual updater will be available "soon". Might want to invest in a modem though in case other publishers follow the trend Valve started with Half-Life 2, online activation.
  7. That's not much better as cat 5.4 doesn't help at all and hardly anyone will find the ATI thread now and it did have some very useful info, namely what versions work for no lag and for gloom and that you can simply copy the DLL to the game folder rather than having to downgrade your driver. I found that very helpful. Alas, people will have to make do without that now and start countless new threads about the Dantoine slowdown. Good job, moderators.
  8. Well at least you *can* use the updater, I've been unable to directly access any Lucasarts sites for over a month thanks to some crappy router on the way. Luckily I have the US version and was able to DL the manual patch from another site, if I had to rely on the updater I'd be rather pissed by now.
  9. Shows that ignorance is still rampant... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wonder what genius deleted the stickied huge thread about working ATI drivers. Good job, not.
  10. You don't even need that many parts, all you need are the fixtures, BD will make a green lightsaber. Guess he is carrying around a green crystal in his pocket. I built mine on Nar Shadaa, the first planet I visited after Telos. One part came from Visa, the remaining two I found in Nar Shadaa or maybe 1 was from Telos, can't remember.
  11. Nope Only the USA version (of 1.0b) is available There is the 1.0a available in all languages but does not fix anything <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh yeah, and what do you think ftp://ftp.lucasarts.com/patches/pc/sw_pc_...20_to211427.zip and ftp://ftp.lucasarts.com/patches/pc/sw_pc_...20_to211427.zip possibly are? Both were uploaded early last week. They're not linked from the LA support page but as stated in my earlier post, you need to browse the FTP server to find them. I don't know if you can manually patch with them but the autoupdater should get them.
  12. Just browse their FTP server, they've had ALL language version patches available for days now...
  13. While it's nice that the mod gets some recongition, i wonder how much Lucasarts will tolerate before turning on the break. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They couldn't care less. Right now, the idea is to minimize expenses, i.e. put as many fixes as possible in the pending patch since it will be the only one. Patches cost money, sales of games released 4 months ago aren't affected by patch releases or the lack therof and thus don't warrant any more investments beyond a token effort. No content patch, if some fans make one, great: less pressure on OE and LA.
  14. Kotor 1 runs like a slideshow on Dantooine with 5.4 too, the release notes are total crap. Maybe ATI had Lucasarts test it for them...
  15. Well it did work just fine before, both the 4.2 and 4.3 drivers not only have no slowdown in outdoors levels at all, they also have working gloom effects. No idea why both have been broken ever since. I just know it never took Nvidia a year to fix a bug with their driver so I'll go back to Nvidia for my next graphics update...
  16. And the point of that was? <_< Thanks for letting me know the new ones were out. Unfortunatly it is too late to test them out. The release notes do say that the massive 1 frame per 5 second drops in places like Dantooine should be gone since those also happened in KOTOR 2, there are a few known issues they had from the last release that apparently they have not fixed though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The release notes lie, the slowdowns in Dantooine are still there. And gloom effect still won't work either. Maybe they meant to say the slowdowns will be fixed "soon"... Back to the 4.3 dll for me.
  17. And it was released a month after KotOR, too. The truly funny thing is that the patch is labeled v1.00, though
  18. It's a bad router, ded2-g1-3-0.snfcca.sbcglobal.net [151.164.243.62]. My ISP said they can't do anything about it as it isn't one of theirs. Not much help...
  19. Proxy access works but not well, it's slow and not all graphics are displayed. I couldn't care less about Lucasfarts' forums (though they can be good for comic relief, reminds me of WoW forums) but was checking their site for game updates. Of course, given the amazing official feedback so far (best customer support in the industry after all) I wouldn't hold my breath to see a patch at all, or at least not before Episode III. I'd say said support is about as great as the new movies, if not better... And no, neither of us was banned, being banned doesn't keep you from reaching servers, it just keeps you from posting...
  20. Dang, I still can't reach it, guess my bloody ISP tries to rout me via some dead router
  21. Is it my crappy ISP or has the Lucasarts page been down for weeks now? I sure can't reach it any more...
  22. You hooking your Rig to your TV? 15 FPS looks like a slide show on my monitor <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't feed the troll...
  23. Not holding my breath, ATI have been aware of that problem for a long time. A year ago one of their testers was already confident they'd fix things the next patch, or else the one after...
