  1. Okay, you really not a programmer like you said in the first post. What you are talking about is a technical problem with the quality of the CD itself, not about the quality of the software which is an entirely different thing. You are mixing these two things up. One: if there was an error on the physical CD media, everyone would have gotten the same problem and most likely would not have been able to install the game. Since almost everyone can install the game, the conclusion is that there is nothing wrong with the CD itself. Two: after we all have succeeded in installing the game on our computers we can have different errors, because they are in the software, not in the hardware where the game itself is concerned and because we use different computers with different processors, different videocards, different soundscards etc. etc.
  2. Fingers crossed George Lucas doesn't decide to make SW parts 7 through 9 then ...
  3. I'm gonna stick them in the dark side of George Lucas ... Not that he has anything to do with the quality of the game, but hey, I am so angry with this game that I start disliking everything Star Wars.
  4. Yeah just noticed the European version too. Still: AARRGGHH, because the second time visit to Dantooine where I (and not only me) get a black screen with only a cursor is not solved. *puts kotor2 on the shelf again to gather dust
  5. US only (argh 1) and judging from the list does not solve the issue with the second visit to Dantooine (argh 2). To summarize : AAAAAARRRRGGHH ...
  6. What you should have seen after the bit of loading was a screen with all your savegame files on the left in a treeview. In that treeview you can expand the game you want to edit and see all the different categories inside the savegame, like inventory, npc, experience, force powers etc. etc. The only things I can come up with why it did not work for you is either: you did not wait long enough, but I cannot imagine that, because it start within 5 secs on my 2.4GHz P4 PC. Or more likely: somehow you have a slightly disfunctional installation on the game (how ironic in a way) and the program does not know where to locate you savegame files. The editor looks inside the registry for the following key that usually is added when installing the original KOTOR2 game: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\LucasArts\Kotor2 at that point an entry by the name of "Path" should exist. The editor then looks for a map named "Saves" inside the path mentioned in the registry. If it can find the save games there (and it normally would) than it should work ...
  7. Or use the Kotor savegame editor @ http://www.starwarsknights.com/tools.php
  8. Another thread with exactly the same problem exists. It has nothing to do with your card. I have the same problem. If I deleted some game in progress files while running the game I am able to enter Dantooine, but the story goes completely FUBAR, so that's no solution. Seems to be some scripting problem. http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...ic=29321&st=180 http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...pic=29647&st=90 http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=30434
  9. First of all: it's not a file, it's a directory. Start a kotor2 game like you normally would do. With the kotor2 game still running, switch back to windows with the alt-tab key combination. Go to the map where you have installed kotor2 i.e. c:\games\swkotor2 and in that directory is a map called gameinprogress. This map is ONLY visible when the game is running as well. The map will automatically be deleted after you exit the kotor2 game.
  10. Building on Lee's sollution to a problem: I got the problem that when I return for a second time to Dantooine my screen goes black after choosing the characters at the exit of the Ebon Hawk. To prevent this from happening, delete the files starting with 6 and the letters DAN in the gameinprogress map just BEFORE you press the OK button to leave the Ebon Hawk. You have to ALT-TAB out of the game back to windows, go to the swkotor2 game map where there is a map called gameinprogress and after deleting the files ALT-TAB back into the game and hit the OK button. It works, but for now I haven't got a clue as to how much it will make a mess of the storyline, because in essence you will have deleted most if not everything that happened on Dantooine before. [edit]Well ... I just met Disciple for the second time (or is it his twin brother) in the enclave, so deleting games in progress is not a real option either[/edit]
  11. Probably mentioned before, hopefully solved in the next patch, in any case trying to offer some help: The first planet I visited after Telos was Dantooine. I did not solve the Redemption quest there. After Dantooine I visited all other planets and solved most quests. Then I wanted to return to Dantooine. The ship lands, I walk to the exit of the Ebon Hawk, choose the partymembers and after clicking OK get stuck with a black screen and green cursor with nothing happening anymore. Now for the "trying to offer some help" bit. I have uploaded my last save game, right before I try to leave the Ebon Hawk on Dantooine and get stuck, in zip format (approx 4MB) at the following url www.xs4all.nl/~aphex/kotor2bug.zip I don't know if it will be of any help, but at least I am trying ;-)
  12. Sharing the pain. I got stuck with the Dantooine bug as well. Tried every different combination of characters to take with me, tried to end as many quests as I could, but to no avail. I have the unfinished Redemption quest as well and it's not the only unfinishable quest on the list. Loved the game to bits, had no noteworthy bugs with it, until ... Purrrlease O-guys, gimme a fix!
