Sorry, I keep forgetting WSJ is blocked. I have a subscription.

Why Are Americans So Distrustful of Each Other? - WSJ Hint: Politics. Political leaders (one in particular but no one has a monopoly on this) falsely convincing folks political opponents are literal enemies and all the societal institutions (sports, media, schools, churches, stores, etc) that we all rely on are actual combatants in a culture war being waged against one group or another. And based on some of the comments coming from incoming Biden Admin people Biden's call for unity runs only one way. So don't expect any improvements.

Congressman cracks open beer in farewell U.S. House speech Sounds like a good dude

My favorite hypocrisy so far came from the mayor of either Austin or San Antonio, I forget which. After admonishing his citizens not to travel he takes a private jet to Cabo. In fact one story had him making the announcement from Cabo. Most of these guys I bet it really chaps their ass to have to apologize. Who were the stinky plebeians to question what they do?

I got the number off the news broadcast on POTUS Channel 124 SiriusXM. It was during the Michael Smerconish show this morning. I like his show. If the facts are incorrect either I misunderstood or they were reported incorrect by CBS radio Or a little of both. I assure you it was not intentional nor hyperbole. Edit: It was over a dozen people from different households at the party with Newsom. Not 600. I either miss heard or misunderstood or ran two stories together in my head. Not intentional.

The fine folks of California are halfway to recalling their governor. The petition for a recall election has passed 750,000 signatures. Newsom is one of the biggest corona lockdown hypocrites, but just one of many. While he shutting down and putting restaurants out of business in his own state telling his citizens they must stay home and wear masks he goes to a fancy birthday party of 600 people wearing no mask at a restaurant whose average meal costs more than the unemployment check of the people he’s put out of work. Hey one thing you have to love about California is they know how to dispose of troublesome governors.

No your account with whatever exchange you have will be credited. Minus a fee. Moving it elsewhere is something you’ll have to do yourself. -

Not that I’ve ever heard of. Wouldn’t know though. I’ve only made one transaction. I bought the one I have a never did anything with it or tried to sell it -

To buy and sell crypto you have to sign up to an exchange. There are several but I use Coinbase. You create a virtual “wallet“. And yes you could use it just like a currency if you were doing business with someplace that accepts bitcoin as payment. Or any other cryptocurrency. There are several. One even has the backing of the US treasury. But you can sell the asset back to the exchange like any other security -
It’s not a con. Trump really thinks he won. Is it sad or absurd. Or both.

That decides it... I'm holding onto it. If it goes over $250k you will hear me screaming wherever you are. I could retire right then and there. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/as-bitcoin-busts-out-new-records-these-market-watchers-see-250-000-and-even-400-000-on-the-horizon-11608206197?siteid=bnbh -

Bitcoin prices top $20,000 milestone and continue to surge to record highs - CNN I'm getting very nervous about this. I bought one bitcoin two years ago when the price was $3600. I figured it was a crapshoot and I just wasted $3600. I mean you are literally buying nothing. Now nothing is worth a lot and I'm wondering what the top price of nothing is. When do you get out? -
US politics these days is a big shiny package with nothing in it. All butter no bread. I guess this was inevitable.

One of these days I would really like to get to their museum in KC.

She’s already won a second term and defeated a challenger in the process. Kind of doubt she’s going away. However, the DNC can see that she faces primary challengers and then the road will get much rockier.
-
I wonder how long the hoary old greybeards of the DNC (the ones who control the money) will put up with AOC and "the squad". Ocasio-Cortez takes direct shot at Pelosi and Schumer - POLITICO

OK cool I added it to my to do list. The last one you recommended to me was pretty good. I came to completely different conclusions than McMillan did but there you go.

Just Moneyball. None of his others

In reality it does not have anything to do with me really. There is very little the federal government can do to me or for me. Providing I don’t break the law or anything crazy like that and excepting any major domestic policy change. Not planning to break the law so... So it boils down to politics just being something interesting to talk about. As Grom pointed out (as you did too) its one thing to tell them off on your way out the door. It’s quite another to do it while you still have a career in front of you. Amash did that so he ranks higher on the respectable scale but now he’s out of Congress so not much that I can do fo him. If he ever runs for office again I’ll write him a check. What the hell. I make political campaign donations very infrequently. There are a couple of charities I favor and would rather write checks to them.

There wouldn’t be a donkey there

Perhaps Gromnir is right. Perhaps they are not all utter scoundrels and villains, lacking integrity or moral character and engaging only in transactional relationships. Perhaps they are not all arrogant moral busybodies who seek to torment us endlessly with the smug approval of their own conscience and sense of superiority. Perhaps Justin Amash and Paul Mitchell can show us there is still some decency and courage and conviction to principle to be found in the halls of the US Government. Or perhaps they are aberrations at best and at worst the exceptions that prove the rule and my previous description fits 95% of them to a T. I am leaning towards the latter explanation but I am still hopeful I will be surprised.
