  1. I really had trouble with the mouse/keyboard set up...I've found it a lot more enjoyable playing on the 360 (although I imagine you can use a game pad on the PC?). Once you've got a few points in stealth you get the awareness ability full time which allows you to see which way enemies are facing, if they're suspicious (yellow), oblivious (green) or onto you (red) - it helps a lot!
  2. Played this initially on the PC and I was utterly turned off by the hacking/lock picking skills as they were so fiddly on a keyboard/mouse set up. I gave up even before reaching the end of the first 'tutorial' mission. That combined with the bad reviews pretty much convinced me to give it a miss. Then on the off chance I decided to rent it on the 360 and what a difference! Half way through the game, it suddenly clicked with me - criticals, using skills etc really make the game a lot more fun. The skill wheel is clumsily implemented (which is why it took me so long to actually utilise it), and there are some glitchy issues but I ended up buying the game (it didn't hurt that you can pick it up for
  3. I'd rather have something that didn't crash every 5 minutes. I'd put game stability over graphics any day of the week. Edit: Oh, and a great story. My priorities go like this: Stability, Story, Characters, Lightsabers, ...Graphics.
  4. Actually, correct me if I'm wrong but the original spellings for words like 'Armour' and 'Favour' were the spellings without the 'u's'. The English added the u's some time later (I have no idea why). Being English myself, I hate to admit it of course I prefer the English spelling though, and I prefer the English pronouncication of words like 'vase' and 'aluminium'. Must be bred into me or something. Also, for anyone interested in word origins, you can't beat an Etymology Dictionary
  5. Well whenever it happened, I managed to save it into my last 3-4 files. Looks like I'll have to kill Sion again. It seems plenty of other people have had this bug too, occuring in different places and different times. Talk about odd. Thanks anyway!
  6. Okay, so I'm in the Trayus (sp?) academy and I'd already defeated Sion, but decided to go clear out the proving grounds as I'd not done that area. When I left the proving grounds, I changed my armour to the Nel something or other advisor armour. I'd been picking off the remaining sith when I suddenly realised that all of my healing kits had disappeared. Puzzled, I checked my inventory to discover that all of my items, except those that I had equipped had completely vanished! Even worse, however, when I checked my party window, all of the windows were blank, and under the slot were the large character portrait would be was the line 'I am broken, so very broken.' The game has the latest patch (UK), I'm running from the cd, and I can't understand what the heck has happened. My last good save was just before I fought Sion, but my last 3-4 saves are all the same. Just when I'd managed to get the game running without crashing every 3-4 minutes, this goes and happens. Has it happened to anyone else? Does anyone know if there's a way to fix it? I've not tampered with any of the saves or anything! If you'd like more info, just ask, I'm just not entirely sure what's relevant. Thanks!
  7. Well, I wasn't sure if I'd patched it or not to 1.0a so thought I'd mention the version number. Thanks anyway!
  8. My version is 2.00.424 English, I've tried installing the patch with my firewall turned off and got the same error. I'll try and get a hold of patch 1.0a and see if that helps. Thanks! Edit: Okay, I've managed it - seems the updater didn't like the fact my kotor2.exe was an altered one (no-cd). I've replaced it with the proper .exe and it installed instantly. Ooops. "
  9. Okay, I tried to update my game using the autoupdater. Everything was going fine, iit reached 100% completion and then I got this message: Extracting files from: temp\sw_pc_english_from200424_to210427.zip inflating: Games/LucasArts/SWKotOR2/temp/KOTOR2 PATCH.RTP Patching File Modules\001EBO_dlg.erf An incorrect version of the file was found on your system. The update was unable to complete, since the file contents were incorrect. C:\Games\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\Modules\001EBO_dlg.erf File Size: 728325 File CheckSum: 4fe6606980c93443d3aecc464c2cb726 Get the manual patch. http://support.lucasarts.com/patches/Kotor2.htm The patch has been aborted So I downloaded the manual patch and started it. At 67% I get this message: Patch Error: Old file not found. However,a file of the same name was found. No update was done since file contents do not match. It's the UK patch I'm using. I've deleted the override file as suggested elsewhere on this forum but still no joy. Can anyone shed some light on this situation please?
  10. Bao-Dur, 'cos he's lovely. Carth just annoyed me in the first game, he just whined so much. And yes, girl gamers do exist. I, and many of my friends, are living proof. However, I was once informed by a male friend of mine I was not 'a proper girl' because I played rogue-likes and rpgs.
