Purkake Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 (edited) Machinarium is an award-winning indie puzzle/adventure game with an awesome art style(these are screenshots): The demo is out now. Edited September 30, 2009 by Purkake
Wrath of Dagon Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 OK, I'll put it in my queue, thanks. "Moral indignation is a standard strategy for endowing the idiot with dignity." Marshall McLuhan
kirottu Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 First pic reminded me of Beneath a Steel Sky, which is never a bad thing. This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
vault_overseer Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 that's guys behind samorost, right?
Purkake Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 (edited) First pic reminded me of Beneath a Steel Sky, which is never a bad thing. The art style actually reminds me of the style in the Planescape campaign setting books.(examples of which are really difficult to find...) @vault_overseer: Yes, it's Amanita Design, who also made Samorost. deganawida Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 (edited) ^Ah, good old Tony DiTerlizzi. I love his style. It's what gave Planescape a special place in my heart. If you enjoy his art, you ought to check out "The Spiderwick Chronicles" (the books, not the movie). Though it's classified as young adult literature, it's actually a good little take, and it's all illustrated (and co-written) by DiTerlizzi. Edited September 30, 2009 by deganawida
Purkake Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 Oh, I'm well aware of Mr. DiTerlizzi's exploits. Too bad most of the Planescape stuff isn't online.
Purkake Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 (edited) Finished the demo, the puzzles are pretty clever and I really like the art style. Everyone who has a free hour to try something awesome, be sure to check it out, the demo is only like 40MB. Edited October 1, 2009 by Purkake
SteveThaiBinh Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 That was fun, and very beautiful, but I'm not sure how much fun more of the same would be. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
Wrath of Dagon Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Apparently it's a larger game than appears from the demo. May be it's worth $20 after all. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/10/16...ium/#more-19738 "Moral indignation is a standard strategy for endowing the idiot with dignity." Marshall McLuhan
