Farrer did try to make the imperium function though. Show it as the ugly place it is, but also show it as something more than a breeding pit for cannon fodder.

What Dune books are you reading?

Well, yes, kind of. I have the Kindle Edition of a 2019 re-release that apparently is either out of print again or really hard to get, prices on Amazon are 80€+ for the three books.

I read... Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune and am somewhere like a quarter into Heretics of Dune, which I stopped until I'm done with LotR. Or maybe a bit longer, not sure yet. I'll definitely will finish reading it, but there's only so much teenage Duncan I can stomach.

It gets worse. There is always Chapterhouse Dune.

But just when you thought you had reached the epitome of bad, the son writes the prequel garbage.

 

Then again nothing can protect people's work after death. Terry Pratchett thought having his hard drive publicly destroyed would do it. Then they brought out The Watch series.
