March 14, 20187 yr Ugh... Sorry. Tried looking this one up, and I still can't figure out what '25 % of damage range guaranteed' means.
March 14, 20187 yr It works like so (example): If your weapon does 30-50 dmg then the damage range (between min and max) is 20. Comtessa's Gage will add 25% of that (in this case 5) to your minimum weapon damage. Your new damage will be 35-50. It works like Confident Aim. And like Confident Aim the dmg bonus is multiplicative. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
March 14, 20187 yr Author Thanks. Confident aim's description is a lot more intuitive. I thought it could mean something like that, but it just doesn't explain it in the same way(which is one of the biggest troubles with PoE...). It's a good item, then. I should see if I could fit it somewhere.
March 14, 20187 yr I agree that some descriptions are really cryptic and obscure. And with "some" I mean most. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
March 14, 20187 yr Author 'Adds damage to each attack or spell equal to 25 % of the range between your minimal and maximum damage.' Are Obsidian opposed to something like that?... Edited March 14, 20187 yr by Hulk'O'Saurus
March 24, 20187 yr Comtessa's Gage and Confident Aim work differently. Confident Aim increases your min damage (like Boeroer explained) while Comtessa's Gage reduces your variance by 25%. Example: Weapon doing 40-60dmg Confident Aim (adds 20% to min dmg) - new dmg will be 48-60 (min dmg is 40 and 20%*40=8 ) Comtessa's Gage (reduces variance by 25%) - new damage will be 45-60 (variance is 60-40=20 and 25%*20=5) Confident Aim + Comtessa's Gage - new damage will be 51-60 (first the min dmg (40) is increased by 8, then the new variance (12) is reduced by 3) Edited March 24, 20187 yr by Kaylon
March 24, 20187 yr Yes - nicely explained. When I said "works like Confident Aim" I only meant that it adds something to your min damage. The way it gets calculates is different of course. I actually didn't know how Confident Aim and Comtessa's Gage work together (like - what comes first and so on) - now I do. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
March 24, 20187 yr By the way: I never bothered to check if there are weapons that have a particular big damage difference between min/max. I imagine that for example fists with Novice's Suffering are not that good with Confident Aim or Comtessa's Gage (min damage is only 5 and the variance is only 3 points). But are there some weapons (maybe unique or soulbound) where the difference/variance is especially high? Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
