I cannot decide how to best use the durgan steel, so thought id ask for input.

My current setup is:

Eder: Bittercut (durganized), (ranged backup Fellstroke) / Argwes Adra+Bagradrs Barricade

Kana: Shatterstar (durganized) (ranged backup Aedrins Wrecker) / White Crest Armor + Last Tower

Durance: Whispers of Yenwood, Exceptional Arquebus / Golden Scales + Ilfan Byrngars Solace

Hiravias: Gyrd Haewanes Stenes (melee backup: Drawn in Spring) / Wayfarers Hide + Larder Door

Grieving Mother: Leadspitter (durganized)

PC (Cipher): Stormcaller

I have enough durgan ingots for 3 more enchants. I was unsure about durganizing lead spitter but figured the crit change+mult bonus would be worth it. I am not quite sure whether shields and armors are worth enchanting?

Funny you should question whether or not to “Durganize” armor; I only use ingots on 1 weapon

How I do it:

1) do you get a soulbound weapon?

2) are you a caster?

If a character answers yes to either question, they don’t get an ingot.

So who does?

Eder (weapon)

Kana (armor - he’s used two handed weapons and those require 2)

Pallegina (armor)

Devil of Caroc (body)

PC (shield)

In my last playthrough, I still had too many so Eder got hooked up with armor too. YRMV

Well, the effects on weapons seem quite drastic, offering higher attack speed, improved crit chance and damage. I am also unsure about whether better armor /shields are likely to come along etc. Does durgan effects always stack with everything else?

Right, but if the character is wielding a soulbound weapon or castings spells...so what?

I’m not sure what you mean by “come along”, so I can’t help you there.

As for stacking, I don’t know. The items I’m applying the mods to don’t have the properties naturally, so I can’t say

Sure, if the weapon is soulbound, its easy to decide :) But for example ciphers fuel their "spells" through doing damage, so enchanting their weapons can make sense. My concern regarding armor, was that i was still unsure whether i should wait for better armors to show up later in the game. However, for now i have enchanted Argwes Adra (on Eder). He is my primary tank, so i find it unlikely that he will want to swap armor.

If you want Edér to use scrolls and if you don't want to take Unbroken (doesn't stack with Second Chance, both get triggered when getting knocked out) then there is no strictly "better" plate armor. You can check the wiki if there's anything you'd like better though.

Your original post said your PC cipher is using Stormcaller. Stormcaller is a soulbound weapon and can’t be enchanted. So I’m not sure what your point is (other than to argue with me).

At no point did I say “don’t durganize weapons”. If you have a build where that makes a lot of sense, then by all means, be my guest. However durganizing weapons simply for the sake of doing so seems like a waste to me. Your results may vary.
