Pengw1n Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I'm sure there's been mentions of it before - but now there's both a banner, and splash on the front page about it, which I don't recall seeing. As well as being the headline in the newsletter. Nice! Maybe Paizo was waiting for the phone milestone? 1
Pengw1n Posted September 19, 2016 Author Posted September 19, 2016 (edited) Incidentally - I visited my local store to pick up some Pathfinder stuff and they said interest in the physical game had declined heavily, due to the app being superior... (pretty much a quote) And here I was doing the opposite. Edited September 19, 2016 by Pengw1n 1
Hannibal_PJV Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 (edited) Well pathfinder has long history as a board game, and it is quite shelff heavy game. It eats a lot of space. So it may be declining, but it still have quite strong fan base and the next big box is coming out soon. I Expect that the app and board game version still support each others. I don't beleive that They eat eachothers. The app is superb for solo playing and soon reasonable good for multiplayer too, but there still is difference to cather together with a friends and play together some physical game. I think that declining in popularity is just normal situation to the physical game at this moment. So don't worry man! There will be new adventures in the Pathfinder for some time at least and Also hopefully new digital too. Edited September 19, 2016 by Hannibal_PJV 1
Bajie Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Yes, the app is superior when your friends don't want to help cleaning up after sessions ^^ My route is backwards also, got the app for free, love it (even if not complete), bought the physical game to return the love. 1
Morningkill2 Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I bought the game (full), tried to played it a few times, but it's a (physcal) game which is very tiring for me (more than more complex games), not sure why. I think the app is far superior, so much I'm not even sure I'll buy the other boxes (which I was planning for). Also, it's a looong game, I have difficulties finding two - three people interested in playing 15+ sessions it (in my experience, two-three hours is the maximum I can play it) And seeing how often I lose on the app, 15+ is I think quite low. 1
etien Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Would disagree; for me the card game is superior because of the physical handling of cards dices and stuff. And also because you can implement your own house rules; The apps is great though; eagerly waiting for AD4; AD5 and AD6 like everyone
Pengw1n Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 (edited) First table top glimpse of the new set. - slow loading at times. At least somewhat related to this thread Edited September 28, 2016 by Pengw1n
Celedhring Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 The app is great because it sorts out the whole prepping and cleaning up, so you only focus on the best part of the gaming experience: actually playing the game. Meanwhile, the physical game has the unbeatable asset of the social experience of sitting with your friends and have a great time with them while you play. So both can coexist. 1 Chest count: 136
