Medusa Mask not working

I am using an LG G4, Andriod version 6.0

 

I am currently in story mode, using Kyra (shrine to Lamashtu), Lem (Villiage House), Valerous(Villiage House), Sajan (Catacombs of Wrath), in that order

 

I was doing Trouble at Sandpoint, with the following wildcard powers  - Retailiation, Impending Doom (IE hardest difficulty)

 

I came across the villian (I cannot remember her name, but the one that creates wrathful sithspawns), with Lem.  I attempted to use the Medusa Mask to freeze her, but after I selected it, the only option offered was to cancel the action, there was no confirm check or anything.  I quit my game, but could not use the mask to freeze her and continue the game.  In the end, I just fought her as normal, and continued my game
