Whenever I start the game app it tells me I need to "be online" in order to acquire gold. Try as I might, I can't find a button on the game start page to send me online. Could some kind soul please walk me through it?

If you are on iPad , and have an Internet connection on , you should automatically connect to their game server as you start the app. Should like wise be the same for android device as well.

You Also have to,have active google play or game Center Account. It is not about your internet Connection, it is about you game Center or google play account... Confusing... yes, very...

Maybe it's a one time registration process when you need to log in to gamecenter for the first time you run the game? For sure now I can be logged off gamecenter and still play the game fine.

You can play, you don't get gold...

On the main menu page, it tells you if you are logged in or not.

I must have been logged of gamecenter for days now. The game and good rewards function well. Still getting the logged into server message whenever I start up the game. Don't think it's Apple game-center per se, but the connection to paiso/ obsidian

Yes, you appear to be correct. I logged in to Game Center first before I opened the Pathfinder app; it then showed I was "online" as well as began awarding me gold for accomplishments!
