[WM1] Ninagauth's Death Ray effect/description mis-match?

Spell description reads "...and only effects enemies". The spell details don't list the beam as being Foe-only and the combat log shows the spell trying (though failing) to hit my party members. Am I reading that part too literally or is this a bug?
