:w00t:  Thank you, I think there are several reasons for that.  1) We are serious role players here. 2) Even when we disagree with each other we are still comrades. 3) By posting on the official forums we can drive the developers crazy with all our suggestions as to how to improve the game.  4) We have really good moderators here.

Like...why does Durance start with so many spells? I just met him and it is driving me nuts going through his spell selection in combat. He seems to be a little more complicated then Aloth the wizard. lol. Going to have to get used to him I guess.

Durance takes some getting used to.  Aloth is the weakest character and needs buffing especially when faced with shadows.  I fin it interesting that in my latest play he has done the most damage also been knocked down the most.  In a couple of earlier plays I had him die because I didn't keep track of his health.  Your party members can die permanently even when playing on easy.  Remember that food gives bonuses that are longer term than potions.   Feed your party members before a battle and you can feed them during battle despite what the game says.  Some people recommend keeping Ale, Beer, mead in a quick slot.  Cheese has also been recommended.

Why priests get more spells to start I have no idea maybe someone else knows and will explain.  Priests also need mechanics to set there  seals.

Are priests the only healing class?

Paladins also have healing spells and I think you can give the talent Field triage to anyone.  Which reminds me I need to do that the next chance I get.

I think priests and druids (I think Paladins as well) get full access to all the spells of a level when they can cast at that level, but are limited by a number of casts for each of those levels. Wizards have the whole grimoire swapping mechanic, which I admittedly haven't played around with much. They can only have 4 spells per level in a grimoire, but can swap them via quick-slots in combat to have access to a different saved set of spells...

Chanters and Ciphers both work on a sort of charges-accumulated-in-combat thing, chanters are a time based thing, with ciphers gaining points on hit...

Something like that :p I'm sure people in the strategy forum can give much more detailed breakdowns...

Heya,

Priests have the most healing spells for their class, at least one at each tier, often two (one bigger AOE heal, one more intense heal with less AOE, etc; plus their per-encounter Holy Radiance heal). Also, all casters at level 9 start to have their level 1 spells become per encounter, so you become a healing machine late game (at level 10, level 2 spells become per encounter, etc). This applies to Priests, Druids, Wizards, etc. Druids also have a lot of healing spells with their class, but the Priest has better AOE heals (consecrated ground) and Priests have Revive and Withdraw.

But more importantly to know, all classes have access to healing spells. Lore = Scrolls = Healing spells for everyone, at pretty much all levels. You can just get a Lore of 8 with bonuses and points and you're good to go with most spells, from heals to even revive on a scroll. Scrolls are pretty much broken in my opinion because it gives anyone easy access to really powerful things. Tanks with scrolls of revive? Party is unstoppable.

Very best,
