cavemandiary Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 (edited) I really like the paladin after the latest patch, so much in fact, that i made two of them in my party; one for tanking and one as an offtank. The idea was to get dual auras (dmg reduction and accuracy) and dual lay on hands. This has allowed me to skip the priest in favor of either a rogue or barb (i chose barb). The lack of aoe healing is solved with healing scrolls and shod-in-faith shoes on barb. Paladin 1: shieldbearer with herald gives +15 deflection partywide for most of the fight. tank, pale elf, sword/shield Paladin 2: darcozzi 2h with high con and heavy armor makes him a solid offtank that deals decent damage when attacked. Like a lesser, more durable barbarian that can support. Moon godlike for the heal. Has anyone else tried this? Edited June 30, 2015 by cavemandiary 1
Torm51 Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Currently running Duel Paladin on my PoTD run for tank and off tank and so far am having the same results. I however have not gotten rid of my priest. Maybe I should. Have gun will travel.

I however have not gotten rid of my priest. Maybe I should. Many of the best priest buffs (armor and accuracy) do not stack with auras. Devotions for the faithful is godlike ofcourse, and many of the priests utility spells are good too. I just prefer to try out new comps from time to time, so my current one is: 2x paladin Barb Druid Wizard Cipher So far im lvl 8, with the hardest fight being the wailing banshee on top of the lighthouse on Ondras goft ( 4ppl got KO'ed)

I was under the impression that Auras should be stacking with virtually everything (except other auras).
cavemandiary Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 Pretty sure, atleast in 1.05 my auras would get suppressed when casting the two lvl 1 priest buffs that add +4 armor reduction and 5 accuracy/10% dmg (sry forgot name) Has it changed?

No idea, I haven't actually played in weeks now. I'd check it, but at this point I'm just sitting and waiting for 2.0 to hit before I pick the game up again. I put it away after the end of Durance's quest chain right at the end of the game, in sheer disgust. Anyone else care to corroborate?
Nobear Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 (edited) I can also corroborate that they don't stack. Also, Herald suppresses equivalent item enchants for some players (including me), but apparently not for others. I and others have written about this, but I don't know if the devs are even at a consensus about how it should work (i.e. should it stack, and should it be party-wide). To check if this affects you, you must enter combat to notice if it does, because the Outworn Buckler effect only activates in combat. In addition, the chanter's chants that boost defenses also suppress item boosts of the same type. This doesn't seem consistent with the idea of sources from items vs spells. IMHO a chant should be considered a spell. PS: to the OP, keep in mind that the paladin with Zealous Focus should have relatively high Int for his aura to cover your back row. Depending on your formation, this could require over 20 Int after buffs. You do have the 4 Int resting bonus, and can easily get 2 Int from an item to help you out. The other paladin can have lower Int, assuming you don't care so much if your back row is well-defended. Edited June 30, 2015 by Nobear
