My treasury is always empty no matter what. I heard people had this problem awhile back but i thought it was fixed.

 

Quick edit: A herb appeared in the chest, but no tax money (or does tax money go straight to you?)

Not all those that wander are lost...

The treasury is less than impressive. If you build the garden and the Curio shop, you get random ingredients off and on. If you send your guys on adventures when they're available they bring home some quids and maybe a scroll or two if you're lucky. If, however this travelling merchant is named, visits the stronghold and you buy something, the item lands there too. Taxes, as far as I understand it, go directly into your cashbox without going through that chest.
