Description:

I chose to scare off the merchant Rinatto in the Twin Elms quest by threatening him. He left town, then was waiting in Elmshore to ambush me with some pals. I killed him. Now, he is standing by the bar in the Celestial Sapling very much alive. He does not say anything when I click on him and seems very unconcerned that he is, in fact, dead.

Steps to Reproduce the Issue:

1. Finish the "Hard Bargain" quest by using the Deceptive/Might dialog options to make Rinatto flee.

2. Go to Elmshore, kill Rinatto during ambush.

3. Return to the Celestial Sapling and find him in the bar.

Hey EphemeralToast,

Do you happen to have a save file before you turned in Hard Bargain? If so, could you please upload that along with an output log.

Thanks a bunch!

Yep, this happened to me as well. No save game, I'm afraid, but I remember it clearly. I tried clicking on him, but he had nothing to say.

Okay, here is a saved game with my party standing right in front of Rinatto before threatening him, and the log. Complete the quest, kill him in the ambush, return to the inn and see him alive in the bar.

Also, here is a related issue: Once you have killed Rinatto in the ambush, the civilians standing around outside the inn go "fake hostile." I have no idea how better to describe this, so here's a screenshot.

You can see that my party has not attacked the nobles here, and the nobles are "green" and nonhostile, but if my party members get close enough to touch them, the nobles "engage" my party in combat, and even perform disengagement attacks, although they do not actually move, perform attack animations, or turn red! Again, this only happens once you have killed Rinatto in the ambush and then return to the inn, so I have to think it's related.

Rinatto is one spooky-ass ghost.

Thank you EphemeralToast for posting up those files. I have entered the bug into our database and forwarded the issue to the appropriate department. I also entered the second bug you mentioned into our database as well.

Keep up the good work!
