At transitions the game tells you repeatedly they get used up when actually using them. But that never happened in my game, regardless of the patch level. I'm virtually drowning in tools by now. Absolutely no biggie, but a curious contradiction between game description and reality.
May 9, 201510 yr I have a recollection that the rope and grapnel that I used to reach the pair of gloves near Gilded Vale was consumed.
May 9, 201510 yr Author I haven't noticed items not being consumed except for that one instance, though I generally never use chisels as I have 18+ might
